I am, I have 2 pairs of them. Both last close to 2 hours listening to music, last about 45 minutes or less if using either pair for a phone call. Suffice it to say, I don't use them anymore. Replaced both with using either a Bose headset if indoors or Aftershoxx if working out.

I still use gen 1’s (that I got for free).

They are great for the times I need to be on calls at conferences so that I can still hear what is going on at events. Also great to use when I ride the subway.

Was about to replace mine with AirPod Pro's then I read about the rattling issues. Because of that my Gen1 AirPods can stay as they have been great!

Still got a pair here (kinda).

Funny story, my mom's usually a cheapskate and normally frowns upon purchases like, say, $150 AirPods ("Why would you buy such expensive earphones?").

Well fast forward 2-3 years and she's been doing a lot of calls at home with her EarPods (frequently gets tangled). I let her borrow my gen1 AirPods a couple days ago and she's like "Why didn't you give me this earlier?"

She's now taken ownership of my old AirPods and has told me I should just upgrade. 😂

My parents had a “why didn’t you tell us about this” moment too when they first got theirs. And I did tell them But it took them wanting them to get them and then write revisionist history lol.

it’s probably common

My 3-year old 1st gen AirPods barely lasted 30 minutes on a conference call yesterday. Did a chat with Apple for battery service and this is the outcome. I think I'll get better value buying new 2nd gen for $139.

That's what Apple wants you to do (just buy new ones), so that's why they price service accordingly.

Yes I still use my AirPods 1st Gen-don’t use/charge them on a regular basis which is why I’m getting enough out of them when I do use them.

I used my 1st gen for the first time in like 5 months (I also have the Pro) and I was like DAMN those actually had bass and I cannot feel them at all. It was like finally hearing again. Kind of sad having spent so much on the Pro now tbh

Still using the gen1 after about 2 years and 2 months.
Now it gets me about 55 min in a conf call and about 2h:20min of music.
I'm considering upgrading to the Pros but will wait until fall for a possible refresh or at least a USB-C charging case.
Just ordered today the Pros, as there was a promotion here for 230 euros, VAT included. They are usually 290 euros here, VAT included. Should arrive on Monday. Will give the AirPods to my son for his XR.

Are those the bone conduction things?

Which model do you have?

Pros/Cons?

I was gifted a set the Aeropex model for Christmas. Good battery life, ip67 rating, and surprisingly good sound considering they're not IN your ears. That's a plus also as people with hearing aids could also use these and hear what's streaming through them as well as use their hearing aids. Obviously you can hear what's going on around you so situational awareness is a big plus. Great for outdoor exercise.

Honestly, the only downside I've found is while the sound quality is good, it's not nearly as good or immersive as over the ear or in the ear headphones. Still for certain circumstance, they are ideal and my preference.

I do but they are my "backups" for at home, I replaced them with gen 2 cause my gen1's barely last for battery anymore. God forbit there is an inexpensive way to swap out the battery.

lol there isn't though which is one of the criticisms that i do agree with. My trackpad 2 died after a few years and the only option was to "fix" at 75% of the price.

All that said and i bought some airpod pros refurb to be used for work calls. The sealed nature gives it a weird feeling for calls though, the powerbeat pros also have this issue.

I bought my AirPods in April of 2017.

Some days they die after 10 minutes, some days they seem fine for up to an hour.

They're used for calling just as much as music.

I do want to replace them but feel the battery service fee should be much, much lower. For the cost of servicing, I can almost buy a brand new set.

I'm not convinced 3.5 years is a good life, but I know the batteries in these things are tiny. I don't think I should just replace and reward Apple. I'm no environmentalist but this seems a huge waste. I do love them but just not convinced on what I should do next. I'm tempted to go back to EarPods and see how I get on with them.

I love Apple tech but I don't think they're as green as they would lead us to believe. Also, I'm questioning the value for money on offer lately. I have an iPhone X (bought outright a year after release), a Cellular Watch 5 and Gen. 1 AirPods. I'm slowly being priced out of the Apple ecosystem.

My right AirPod was losing battery at less than an hour, so when my wife needed a new computer, we used the educational discount and I got a new pair.

I still use my first gens for casual stuff like podcasts and videos

my pro's for listening to music for extended periods of time

I find unless I Know im gonna listen to music, its more worry free to carry my first gen AirPods around by default

could change with time though!

The fact my left one has gone through the wash and still works, and they've both been dropped a couple times, gets rid of concerns

Bought my airPods in March 2017 and still use them all the time but they will be replaced soon. I get about 30 minutes on a phone call and the right pod is nearly dead. Listening to music I get almost two hours. I thought about replacing them a couple of months ago but I'm cheap and just waiting until they are unusable. Considering how much I have used them I will certainly buy them again but there's no interest in the pros for me.

Yeah I still use mine at home, mainly to save the battery cycles of the Pro's.

They're actually very close in sound for music to the Pro's, so it's not a big step backwards when there's no need for ANC.

Whenever i'm doing chores like vacuuming or mowing the lawn, then the ANC of the Pro's are a must.

Pro's are always with me when leaving the house though.

How do I find out which version of AirPods I have? I think it's the first generation, and I absolutely love them! I have never listened to music so much as after buying AirPods, it's just so easy and no hassle and that is important for me because if its to much trouble I wont go to the trouble and use things often. The only thing I don't like is that when I first use it with my iPhone and then my Mac it wont automatically connect with my phone again.
The battery is still very good on my AirPods, I charge it seldom. And I have never had any problems with my AirPods, it's one of my most successful purchases.
My husband has AirPods Pro and he loves them, but I don't like that they go so far inside my ears- it feels awkward.

Still using them too. Bought about 2 months after release. They only hold about 1-1.5 hour of charge but the case feels like it still holds a good portion of the original capacity.

Maybe under Bluetooth devices - there may be a “Gen 2” reference for the newer ones.

Or if you try to say “Hey Siri” it won’t work with the originals. There will also be a Hey Siri option in the settings of the gen 2 AirPods.

Same with me. It opened up the music world for me after many years of not listening.
The only thing I don't like is that when I first use it with my iPhone and then my Mac it wont automatically connect with my phone again.
IOS14 should bring that feature, but I’m not sure if the original AirPods are supported.

Mine were dropping calls and not lasting terribly long so I used the Ed deal to get a pair of AirPodPros. After a week I sent them back - the originals were far more comfortable and didn't fall out. The new ones weren't nearly as good in this regard, even with silicone ear hook thingies. I'll check out new Bose and in the meantime suffer with my old ones. For phone calls I've been using the apple wired buds which work great if I'm sitting.
