I really hope they add Touch ID built into the screen, as I’m also not a huge fan with how Face ID works as my main option to unlocking my phone, there’s some situations where it’s great but for the most part Touch ID is way more convenient. Sad to say this but I perfer the 8 Plus to the X, flame jacket is on!

As much as everybody talks about having a finger print reader under the display, we also don’t know the drawbacks to it either, because no one has experienced it. Some make it seem like it would be perfect technology that would eliminate the Notch, but I’m sure would have its concerns as well. The Only downside with adding a fingerprint under the display, I think it poses problems with screen protectors and accuracy rates when reading. I think the technology is certainly been experimented with, but it was also rumored even Samsung was having issues with consistency with the finger print reader under the display. And I think Apple chose a different route that they believe is the future with 3D facial mapping, and I don’t know that they ever will implement a fingerprint reader under the display given their future with Face ID.

Sounds like you've either got a defective phone or a defective face (you're wearing it wrong).

If possible, I'd recommend a full OS reset. If not, I'd take it in for Apple to service. You shouldn't be having those sorts of issues.

I completely agree.

Bought an iPhone X 256GB mid July. Didn’t realize the true Depth cameras were faulty cause the slow delay of FaceID was not consistent, yet the Animoji was very ... static recognizing my facial expressions. I barely can grow a beard and it’s not even a full inch long.

Returned it and the next X worked perfectly. Still I feel it was first generation and surmised that shipping may have caused a lOOT of raffling to the store on the first model I had. Wasn’t going to chance that by owning it, even with AppleCare+. Downgraded to iPhone 8.

Second generation should be a lot better.

My biggest issue with the current phones that have a fingerprint sensor under the display is that the sensor is slightly visible. Very ugly and I’m sure Apple won’t do it until it’s completely invisible.

This is my second and they’ve both done the same thing, also both have crackling speakers.

What’s unfortunate, is the Notch/Face ID is well known and has been here for almost a year in November, I’m hoping that those who at least don’t want to accept it for what is, will stop vehemently complaining about it. You don’t have to buy the iPhone X if you don’t want to and they have other options in their iPhone lineup that don’t support Face ID, and there are also other competitors for options as well. But unfortunately with September keynote coming, I do believe that more threads like this will surface with those continuously complaining about how Face ID is a ‘failure’ because there are those who are disgruntled about touch ID being eliminated. I think you have those really don’t realize how advanced this 3D facial mapping technology is or they simply don’t care because it doesn’t meet their standards of what Apple _should_ have done, even though Apple knows way more than we do about protection for biometric security for the consumer.

Face ID on my X works 98% of the time for me. I have no issues at night or in bright sunlight. As far as using Apple Pay, press the home button twice, let it scan my face and then hold my phone up to the reader. All done within 10 seconds or less.

I have read quite a few threads of people having issues with Face ID.
For me, it works about 98% of the time. The one time it had an issue was because someone picked up my phone and was 'trying the Face ID'.

Believe me, we got into why he just picked up my phone, from my desk and started trying. Yeah, I wasn't happy; I don't even know him like that. He's still in the colleague group, not 'friend'...

Try resetting it. I did, this time dropping my face way down as I circled around. I find mine works very well. Sometimes it doesn't so I just type in my passcode.
I be upgrading from a 7+ to a X+ next month. Love TID but willing to give Face ID a go if not it be turned off.
I be happier thou if the 2018”s had TID to

You definitely won’t be happier, I went from an iPhone 7 to the X. And I much rather have Touch ID. I literally hate Face ID. I think it was stupidest thing ever invented. My girlfriend hates it so much she just leaves the security off on her X. I’m just waiting for the s10 or whatever will they call It to come out. And I’ll probably jump ship as long as they add the sensor under the display like the rumors state, but I will say I do like the X a lot other then Face ID. Would be perfect if it had Touch ID.

I’m so opposite. I hated Touch ID on my iPhone se that I left it off. I do use Face ID on my 10

I like FaceID but it does have flaws. For instance, it's difficult to unlock flat on table unless you hover over, and there's some trouble with recognition when you want to discreetly check some messages (below at pocket-level, for example). Still works majority of the time and I find that turning off 'Require Attention' is an improvement.

Waiting patiently for on-screen touchID, however.
