Hip hip hooray!!!!! I knew it would find it's way back, it was just the matter of time. Love this device!!!! So much for it just working. I think it's time to say goodbye to this garbage device.

Especially when the iPad worked perfect for the first 2.5 weeks owning it. I'm going to wipe it for the 2847th time tonight and create a brand-new Apple ID account and if this does not work goodbye apple. Never buying another iPad again. Apple support is as bad as Dell support. Absolutely useless.

That would drive me nuts. Even my 6 year old 12.9" IPP with 6 year old pencil (original tip!) doesn't do that :/

About 2 years into owning our 12.9" IPP they both started having screen press issues. You'd touch the screen and nothing, then it would catch up. Turned out it was iOS13. 14 and 15 have been much better. So it likely is the OS not tuned to the iPad mini 6 - you'll need to wait for them to fix it.

The only thing is others with mini 6 are reporting no issues like this with theirs and mine was fine for the first 2 weeks. And two brand new mini 6 with this issue? I'll be getting rid of it if we have to wait for Apple to release a fix, screw that.

If it were an OS issue, there would be more widespread reports of this problem and you don't see them here at least. I certainly don't see it at all on my Mini 6.

I knew I should have just bought a new Surface Pro 8 in the first place to replace my non working touchscreen one I have now on Pro 7. You get what you pay for. The only reason why I even picked up an iPad was because of this. Never again. I'm an idiot for believing the iPad pencil hype. Apple won't be making me a sucker again.

Almost certain im going to do this as Costco has a solid deal on a Pro 8 bundle right now. Take out this piece of trash mini 6 and get a device that actually works.

I wouldn't count out iOS being the cause. It wasn't until I ran updates that my first mini started acting up. When I called apple last week they said that they have many reports already made on this exact same issue.

If I can somehow get one at Costco brand new, very very high chance if has 15.2 on it.

I'm now almost certain this is a hardware issue, I'm leaning towards the pencil. I just let the ipad and pencil sit for 8 hours today. Without even using the pencil, I first restored the ipad and logged in with a new Apple ID account. Finished setting it up, took the pencil off, wrote in it with Apple Notes, skipped right away. The fact that it skipped right away using a completely new Apple ID account has me thinking this is a pencil issue. Remember, this issue always comes back after I let the ipad and pencil sit for 5+ hours. If I use it constantly for say every hour, the skipping won't happen near as much or even at all.

Maybe the hardware is overheating. Must be Fisher Price quality parts inside.

Chances of two bad pencils in a row is rare but this is Apple, so not out of the question. I will try another pencil tomorrow.

Sounds like it's static electricity making this glove the problem solver. Have to wear a glove each time to use the iPad lol. This is what you get for buying overpriced iPads. Ya I'm going to put on this glove each time I'm writing on it lol.

lol Apple support is such a joke, even when you talk to a sr. advisor. Where do they hire these people?

Tried a brand new third pencil, skipped right away. Returned it and ordered a new mini 6 from Costco online. It should have 14.2 on it and not force the 15.3 update on first power on. If so will give it a shot, if not I'll just return it.

If that is the issue then I just sell my current mini. I have absolutely zero doubt now that iOS is the issue. Fingers crossed it doesn't force my to update upon first setup like my replacement now did. I'm not entirely certain but almost certain that the first mini I bought did not force the 15.3.1 update on first turn on.

This is really the only option I have left to try now.

Something about how you use the iPad is triggering a problem that I don’t see at all. At this point I’m not buying that it is a hardware problem. Unless you can get someone from engineering to tell you what they changed in the software, I don’t think you are going to solve this. It sucks but apparently most users and Apple’s testers aren’t having the same issue.

The only thing you are doing differently from me is that I don’t use dark mode. Other than that it has to be something specific about how you write. I’m not saying it is your fault BTW just that you seem to be unlucky in something to do with Pencil 2 inking and iPadOS 15.2+ inking. It sucks and I’m sorry to say that I don’t have any advice.

That's my thinking. I have two iPads, and I've written on a couple more, and not once have I seen the skipping issue that he thinks is endemic.

I don't find that at all to be a coincidence. Testing this third brand new ipad (and hopefully on a version 15.2 or older should tell me.

How come it doesn't skip on other devices but it does on ipads?

If you're required to a glove just to use these devices then I may as well wear a ski glove or even better an oven mitt.

Given the popularity of the functionality, if it was endemic there would be a ton of reports on it. Something singular appears at play here, though it's difficult to say what it is.

Just put the mini up for sale. Really wish I bought from Costco in the first place, I could have just returned it and got all my money back on it instead of taking a bit of a hit. Should get the one from Costco this week, really hope I don't have to return it.

When I called Apple the first time to report my issue, they said that they already have complaints on this exact same issue in their system but only the engineers can see how many. It could be 10,000 complaints filed for all we know.

But none others here where issues are readily brought up?

It has to do with the underwhelming palm rejection on iPads. I’m able to scroll up and down In Apple notes with having my palm on the screen and moving it up and down.

If I don’t have my palm on the screen this skipping never happens. So are we expected to now write with our wrists 90 degrees in the air? Either that or a put an oven mitt on?

As I mentioned, it works fine for me with my palm on the screen.

I don’t doubt it was some software change but it doesn’t seem to be affecting a wide group of users which is truly bad for your case. Like I said, it sucks but I have no advice. You’ve already done everything I would do in your situation. Sorry I can’t be of more help.
