Oh, really? When has Apple done this, aside from technical limitations?

Siri when it was released for the 4s exclusively. Someone might have already replied with this. But I agree with the original post, if 6s limited it would be more marketing rather than technical.

Non 3D Touch devices are getting the new Rich Notifications via long press in place of 3D Touch in a later build. While in the current build they are only for 3D Touch devices. So you're wrong (which isn't surprising)
How is that going to work since long press is used for other things (like deleting apps)?

And the reasoning there was related to differences in microphone and noise cancellation abilities (not to mention a good amount of differences in CPU power).

It makes sense that the iPhone SE would get rich notifications via long press because that it how Live photos are activated. As for the other devices, I don't know.

Why would it make more sense for an SE to have long press Rich Notifications over a iPhone 6? Live Photos has everything to do with the upgraded camera the SE had over the 6.

Anyways it's already been confirmed that long press for Rich Notifications are coming in a later build for devices without 3D Touch. (IE being able to long press into a text message notification and jump into the conversation view and reply. Just like they showcased with 3D Touch in the iOS 10 keynote. Or long press to get a preview of a link directly from the notification (similar to "Peek") without having to go fully into the phone or app.

So why wouldn't those devices get the peek function in apps?

I love the new raise and wake feature. The best thing is when you are standing. It turns instantly off when you holding it by your side of the body. If you lay it down on a table, there is a 2-3 second gap before it turns off. But if you are standing it turns instantly off <3

Q. With the raise to wake feature, see if you have no notifications or anything, and have a Live photo set as a background does it move like "Time-lapse" background on the Apple Watch? ie. The fish background have the fish flutter as if being 'force touched'.

Sadly, No. Such a shame, would have loved that.

And that's pittance compared to what the 6s got.And in addition I am sure it's going to be even laggier than iOS 9 making for a worse experience

Someone did a hack via jailbreak to prove it worked on the iPhone 4. Do you a google if you're interested.

Why upgrade if all the features are available on last years model?

How did it affect battery life and other aspects of the phone? Just because the hardware is capable, doesn't mean they are omitting that feature JUST FOR forcing people to upgrade. If including that feature will make battery life absolutely horrible, why include it?

It's also a question of how well it works. If there are plenty of times when Siri doesn't pick up what you are saying correctly, or at all, and/or if it takes a longer amount of time to understand and then reply, and/or something similar to that, then the user expeience wouldn't be a good one for many people, and therefore Apple might not want to make something like that available for those devices so that the user expeience doesn't suffer more than they are willing to accept. Just getting something working is basically only half of what plays a role in it all.

All that proves is that the 4 had a microphone and I'm pretty sure we knew that already. This "issue" was run into the ground at the time and people are still parroting it even now. The 4S onward had hardware for noise cancellation that meant Siri could be used in realistic ambient conditions. There is no conspiracy.

So the iPhone 6 NOT having it is just to force people to get a 6s

No. It's not like your suddenly going to peg it if you don't have 'raise to wake' on your phone. No one is forcing you to buy anything. Be thankful that your previously bought product is still getting a huge update, for free. Apple could probably charge for iOS features - people would pay for them. Just look at how many people pay for a developer account just to get the latest beta a month before it goes to public beta.

Don't think that's gonna happen. Currently, when you long press a link it'll show a sheet with options like Copy. So that is simply not possible. :p

Aren't Rich Notifications supposed to include link previews and such?
Well, if you put it in that way you're correct. Although it's a little different I think. For example, notifications from Uber could include an interactive map. Maybe it is possible for developers to 'integrate' link previews for messaging apps. Like, when somebody sends you a link it'll show you a preview. WhatsApp and the standard Notes app do this via a thumbnail along with a title and short description of what's on the page (at least they do in the app itself). So I'd not be surprised if they would be able to implement actual webpage previews. Developers can be very creative sometimes. :)

Kinda hope so by the way. Would be great if I'd receive a link from someone and see what's on the page without unlocking my device. :p

Lol the first part is literally making excuses for Apple.Heres an example.Moving the cursor on an iPhone on the keyboard in previous betas didn't need 3d touch and it worked fine and Apple removed it and made it 3D touch exclusive and many apologists on this forum started claiming Apple removed it as it was bugged.a and now you know what?Google's Gboard keyboard gives The ABSOLUTE same feature by long pressing the space-bar and moving the cursor.I don't even have to press hard even on 6s.

You know what the above translates too?One less reason to buy the 6S

Jailbroken iPhone 6 DOES HAVE this raise to wake feature.Third party devs would do it flawlessly if Apple allowed them to

So basically none of that goes against what I mentioned. Got it.

You don't have to press hard for it to work in the stock keyboard using 3D-Touch, and the results are night and day. I wanted to love GBoard, especially for that feature, but it does not work nearly as well, especially when moving up and down multiple lines. I agree with your thoughts on removing the feature, however, so not disagreeing with your post in general.
