I can somewhat agree with the article. I'm not sure the bezels go away though. At least not as much as people seemingly want. The a10 I think will be a minor increase imo because the a9 was such an upgrade. The dual cameras I think can be a significant leap forward though.

Battery life idk. The 6s plus gets great battery life so I don't see a dramatic increase there at least in terms of battery capacity. Maybe they squeeze in a bigger battery due to removing the hp jack and 2nd gen 3D Touch probably being slimmer.

WWDC will determine I think how much the 7 will be different. It's the software we use constantly so iOS 10 will give a clear picture of things to come.
They could most certainly fit a higher capacity battery, these higher density batteries have existed for years, it's just price was a bit higher so oems didn't use them. With Samsung being able to fit a 3,600mah in the S7 Edge shows that either the price has come down or Samsung was willing to forfeit a little bit of profit. So apple better be willing to do something similar, I expect at least 3,000mah in the plus and 2,000mah in the standard, though if Apple really wants to wow people, can you imagine 4,000mah in the plus? And combine that with Apple's power efficiency, which so far no one has matched?

Pretty much agree with everything he listed, though I want to add multi-window and more customizations of the home screen to that list. And make icloud drive the file manager of the iPhone.
I think it kind of is the file manager of the phone, well it's the closest thing to it and now that they have an iCloud Drive app it's better.

Yup, but it's still missing some features, such as when I'm in Safari I can't download a file to it or save a picture to it, but it does give me the option to do those things with dropbox or Google Drive. And not every 3rd party can see it either.

Well a bigger battery would be nice but again the battery life is very good now. A 3000 mah I guess would translate to a 10% increase on paper. Guess we'll see. I'm honestly expecting a modest bump if any. Lol 4000 mah it'd last forever.

If people get 3000 they'll ask for 3500 and so on. It'd never stop. I understand people want great battery life but I'd hope for battery tech to advance with new technologies.

I do wonder if that plays a part in Apple wanting to seemingly have their own cloud centers.

Just my opinion of course, but that render would be a huge design upgrade from the current generation, which I still find is the ugliest iPhone I've seen.

Those antennae lines... no.

I know it's just a fan's render but God, I hope not. Reduce the bezels a bit, clean up the antenna lines and I'm happy. What looks like a giant piece of glass...not thanks. Of course, just expressing my own personal preferences.

How else will they achieve curved screens, though?

If this rumor is true, the eventual device will probably look a lot more subtle than that render. But who knows.

Aesthetics are always subjective in these things. I've always liked the antenna lines to be honest. I saw them as a continuation of the split panels on the 5 and 5S. Each to their own though. :)

Well, you know my position on curved screens...;)

Just not a fan and don't really see a significant benefit in their current incarnation.

Those look really cool, but I hope they don't go that far. One thing owning the S7 Edge that is frustrating me is the false taps I'm constantly getting. Samsung is suppose to release an update to fix that, but I think a smaller curve would be better. If you look at current iPhones, the glass subtly curves at the edge, I think they can keep that same curve and just bring the screen all the way to the edge. So you still get that 3D effect, but will still have some metals sides to hold on too.

Thing is there are so many levels of curve. It may not be as pronounced and more of a 2.5D edge curve rather than the curve of the Samsung devices. Whatever they go for will have to work with Force ID.

I'm sure whatever Apple comes up with, it'll be much more subtle and practical compared to that render. That render was probably just a fanboy making the coolest looking thing. It's exciting, still, though to see possibilities.
[doublepost=1459194946][/doublepost]Another interesting thing to think about regarding that 2017 rumor is that if it's true, that means Apple is going off script from their typical tick-tock releases. Are they feeling the pressure to show something new and exciting? There's no question even tech journalists are starting to see the importance of the iPhone 7 (Mossberg's recent Verge article comes to mind). Or is it simply because 2017 is the 10 year anniversary of the iPhone?

I agree somewhat that the iPhone 2017 should probably not be as crazy as to the extent of that render (hey, who knows, though! No faith in, Apple? Who's to say Apple can't make something like that render work?), but the point is, Apple needs to begin taking chances again.

Yep. I think that's how most people see those lines as, too. Doesn't mean they look nice, though! :p Just my opinion, of course.

There was something more intentional and unapologetic about the split top and bottom panels of the 5/5S. Something about it was classier and more subtle. Cleaner. The glass portion made the metal portion look better, and the metal portion made the glass portion feel functional. They complimented each other.

The antennae lines of the 6/6S generation, though, break up the one sleek slab of metal into awkward pieces. They draw too much attention to them, and don't really say much. They create this weird framing around the device that, I think, is aesthetically unpleasing. It goes against what Apple has always championed: clean, uniform, and sleek designs. In this case, the breaks do not compliment each other as they did in the 5/5S.

Yeah, the antenna lines always looked kinda wierd. The antenna lines on the HTC one always looked much better.

I suppose I appreciate them from a manufacturing perspective too as I have always felt the way they are moulded is very nice. Then again once you have the phone and have got over the honeymoon phase of starring at it lovingly, you don't tend to think about it again. Mine are mostly hidden in a case apart from the back lines. The edges can't be seen.

It's a bit like the camera flange causing all that whining too. I saw it as a nice little piece of engineering in the way it has a tiny chamfer. It's compensated for in a case anyway. Then we had people saying it ruins the beauty of the phone because they don't like hiding them in a case. Well if you don't use a case you are going to batter your phone anyway, hence ruining it's beauty lol. It's this madness that makes me love forums so much. :)

Agree with the camera bump. That's never bothered me to the degree it's bothered others.

At this point in time in early 2016, the iPhone SE is the best looking iPhone design in the lineup.

You do know that the iPhone SE was designed for emerging iPhone markets. India and China mobile them because of the high overhead cost of the Apple products. This'll make it more reachable to the common can summer.

Google Is The New Apple, And YouTube Is The Future

Apple Needs to Rebuild Its Strength Before It Can Rally Higher

What is funny about YouTube is the how the younger generation uses it. YT has created it's own celebrities.
My 8 year old and his friends were watching TV at my house the other day. A commercial for the Nickelodeon Kids Choice awards show comes on. It is listing all the movie stars and celebrities that will be on the show....no reaction from the kids. They say the name Dan TDM and the boys all jump up and down on the sofa. They were not excited about the action movie stars....instead by Dan TDM who i guess ( i had to look him up and ask my son)is a YouTube sensation with 10 million subscribers. Probably most my sons age.
YouTube is creating it's own set of online celebrities that our youth is more excited to see on than the stars on TV or the movies.

To me, the golden era of the iPhone was the 4/4S generation, and to some lesser extent, the 5/5S generations.

Now, with the S6 and S7, it's Samsung's golden era.

It's nice to not be beholden to only one platform. :)
