Since you love google services so much, then you are better off using an Android phone.

I am not married to google services, but since Google wants advertising $$ from Apple users then it makes its services available to me. I can use them if I want to and ignore them if I want to.

Default or not, using google maps is a hey Siri and via transit away from me. You cannot even use Google maps to navigate by voice from contacts in an age when hands free driving is all the rage. Now that is poor implementation.

I will be first to agree that Apple Maps are inferior to Google Maps. But I can still use it hands free and still use it with messages, email, etc. of course, you can do the same with google maps and we both end up at the same destination. But until Google implements hands free navigation from contacts, it is inferior to not only Apple Maps but also to Google Maps on iOS in that one area.
I pointed this out already once in this thread. You can use voice to navigate to a contacts place. I have done it numerous times in my S7e.

Additionally, Google maps displays on my Huawei watch as well, giving me graphics and turn by turn navigation. I don't have to touch anything. I just say okay Google navigate home and both watch and phone bring up maps, plus routes and times.

I would easily switch from iPhone to Android, because of being a more advanced phone and a more open minded phone.

Though not an S7e, I tried to navigate from contacts on an MM LG G4. It did not work. I tried the same on my lollipop equipped HTC One M7 GPE and it did not work. I tried on my GF's Lollipop S5, it didn't work. I am skeptical. No one else with an S7e in this thread has said it worked.

Even if it worked, it is still not hands free operation like I can do with Siri and Apple Maps.

I know I'm going to regret this but...

Taken in a vacuum, phone vs. phone with none of the periphery involved (TVs, computers, etc), let's hear the list of half the things the iPhone 6+ can do that the Galaxy 7 can't...

I'll take the easy one's off the table for you:
- iMessages
- FaceTime

I don't know everything that the S7 can or can't do, but I know right off the bat it doesn't AirPlay, nor will it run the Podcast app. Yes, they do have PodCast apps, but last time I used Android, they were lacking content. So it would be back to carrying an iPad everywhere or syncing an iPod.

iMessage works great, doesn't Whats App do essentially the same thing ?

FaceTime works great if the person on the other end is an iOS user. Works great talking to the wife, but not so much for general use.

But see the thing is, it's not phone vs phone, it's the whole package vs the whole package. Samsung or Android doesn't come close.

I'm also curious. What can an iPhone do that an Android phone can't? Besides using software designed specifically for iOS like iMessage and face time. I also believe that up until Android 6.0 certain music based connections and instruments could be fully integrated with iOS, but I think Google has addressed this? Not sure on this point?

Can you plug a USB drive into the iPhone and download files? Can you plug the phone into any PC and download any file onto your phone? Can you email any file type? Can you create custom ringtones? Can you put icons anywhere you want on the screen? Can you uninstall an app and not lose all your data associated with that app? Can you take photos and save the photo anywhere you want, share between any app, save in raw format? can you add storage? Can you disable apps? Can you customize your phone, so it doesn't look like every other iPhone? The list can go on and on. The iPhone is a fine phone, just severely limited on what it is capable of. I prefer to have a phone that is more like a computer than one that is more like a calculator.

Can you plug a USB drive into the iPhone and download files? I am not sure. It would also require a special cable, just like Android.

Can you plug the phone into any PC and download any file onto your phone? Yes

Can you email any file type? Yes

Can you create custom ringtones? Of course you can. You can even do it on the iPhone using Apple's free Garage Band. Since it was something I've never done, I installed GB on my phone and made some from both ripped and purchased off of iTunes music.

Can you put icons anywhere you want on the screen? Sure can, as long it's next to another one, or it's the first one on a row, and the row above it is completely filled. (I use folders)

Can you uninstall an app and not lose all your data associated with that app? Yes you can. Be aware that every app is different, and some might require a little mumbo jumbo.

Can you take photos and save the photo anywhere you want, share between any app, save in raw format? Yes, yes, and uncompressed TIFF, which is very very close. We are talking point and shoot, not DSLR. I come home and my photos are already on my computer.

Can you add storage? Define storage. If you define it like my grandpa did, no. I messed with CF, SD, and MicroSD cards back in the day when I had Windows PDAs and Blackberries. I disliked it so much I purposely got an HTC One that had plenty of on board storage and no expanded storage. iCloud and OneDrive are tightly integrated into iOS. I've got a 64 Gig iPhone anyway. You can get them with 128 Gig. You never have to **** with a card.

The list goes on and on...

I don't know how true it is, my iPhone using friend says he can't download apps over 100mb on mobile data on his iPhone 6, has to be done using wifi. Is that really true?

Yes, it's true. It's a hold over from an AT&T carrier restriction. If they eliminated it, I wonder how long before the people that went over their data allowance started a class action suit ?

Reads like your defending the iPhone rather then discussing it.

And since when has One Drive been 'heavily integrated' into iOS? What a load of twoddle. I use it, and you have to leave the app open for it to backup anything automatically.
It's also a damn site better then Apples iPhoto in iCloud. With that it backs up nicely and automatically but is THE most clunky, difficult, non intuitive system ever to share photos and videos with family members plus it is limited to 5 minute videos. It is absolutely useless but is the only system that backups automatically.
I had to research how to use it to share photos! And I know how to use tech. Incredibly un Apple like, in fact services is one area Apple has never been any good at and it trails behind Microsoft and Alphabet and Spotify by some distance.

Lol. Definitely not! To us nerds, it may be an overall better device, but to the average Joe, Apple devices are the only thing they would buy.
Not necessarily. I've had plenty of customers, who got the S7 Edge over the iPhone...just b/c the Edge looked cooler.

One drive being well integrated on ios is a good joke.

It's comments like this that make me think that people haven't actually tried android to know what well integrated one drive is actually like. One of androids advantages is that it integrates third party services better than ios.

I think people who are apprehensive about leaving Apple have a lot less to worry about in 2016. For every piece of software and service Apple does well, there is a superior alternative these days (besides osx IMO).

Google photos is unlimited and free. It will genuinely give you all of your photos back to your first digital camera instantly and take up next to no room on your device.

My friends were annoyed by the green bubbles, but I deleted my group chats and moved over to Facebook messenger. The gif integration is great, and over all I prefer it to imessage.

I would prefer to not even talk about the 5 alarm garbage fire that is Apple music/iTunes. Safe to say there are better alternatives out there.

I was already long switched over to Google for email. If you haven't tried inbox you should it is brilliant.

The competition has caught up and surpassed Apple in almost every facet. Sure the OS updates roll out faster on iOS. However ask people with 2 year old phones how it runs. In a lot of instances it will make your phone so slow it is unusable.

The last bastion of clear advantage was hardware quality. In 2016 I now prefer the ergonomics of the competition. Even low end phones this year will be rivaling the 6s in materials and build.

I am a long time Apple fanboy, but above all I am a realist. If you prefer the aesthetics of ios stick, around but you really aren't losing anything by switching these days.

LOL now you sound like a Google Fanboy. As I keep saying I use both OS at the same-time & I think some things are done better on one than the other & vice a versa.

This constant need to big up one OS over the other whatever one it is, is pretty tedious by now.

And before people ask I am running an iPhone 6S+ on iOS 9.2.1 & Note 5 on 6.01.

Sorry dude I use BOTH IOS and Android....I am not tied to just one platform. It is easier to see the benefits of other platforms is you actually USE them.

Google services are better than the default Apple software...thats why i want to use them from siri and text and email links.

Sorry to burst your bubble....i can navigate to a contact using voice commands. I can navigate to saved contacts using Google Now commands. I just say "Ok Google" to activate the software on my S7 and say "Take me home" or " take me to Laura's house" and it brings up Google navigation.
This works on my Galaxy S7 without issue. The mass transit i have not tried yet. I don't that where I live....

The fact that you brought up Kies says it all. The majority of users never bothered with that crap software unless we wanted to do an emergency firmwate recovery. The choice not to use Kies for backups of settings and etc exists for us. Now try backing up your iOS settings and etc without iCloud or iTunes. Yes, iOS default backups are better than Android or Samsung default backups. But we have the choice to use other backups services that are even more convenient and robust than iOS backups, even without root.

As far as tinkering goes. I barely tinker(root, load roms, and etc) anymore. 95% of what I do to customize to my liking is already an option out the box.

I refuse to believe there hasn't been at least several things you wanted to do on iOS that you was restricted of doing. Whether it was how you wanted to do it, or what you wanted to do. For myself, I still have issue with apps on iOS still not allowing me to use my celluar data, while the same apps on Android allow me that option.

I have the edge+ and the iPhone s6 plus for work. To be honest I can do most everything on the iPhone that I can do on my edge. The iPhone overall use is smoother and more stable. :(

Well, yes your use case may not call for any of the extra functionality android has. It can still do some extra stuff though, it just doesn't matter that much to many people.

Maybe it works on the S7e, but it does not work on LG G4 with MM. I tried it and it failed. Navigate home is easy because Google Maps saves your home and work addresses. It does not work on my HTC One M7 GPE and it does not work on the S5 with Lollipop.

And there is a contradiction between what you said and what the other poster said on how it works on the S7e. You said that you say the name of the person and Google Maps navigates to that address. The other poster said that after ok google and giving the command to navigate he had to touch the address on the screen from the address book to initiate navigation.

One of you is wrong. The question is who? I suspect you are.

Uh, I can do that on my S7e? I say, "Take me to 'insert contact name' house" and it pulls up the contacts address for verification, which I then click on and Maps pops up with the route. Maybe this is something new with Marshmallow?
I pointed this out already once in this thread. You can use voice to navigate to a contacts place. I have done it numerous times in my S7e.

You are saying two contradictory things:

1. You first said that S7 gives you an address verification that you must touch to initiate navigation. That is not exactly hands free. I can do the same thing with Google maps using Siri. Ok Siri>navigate to Joe Blow>via transit. I get a screen that lets me choose ANY navigation App. I click on the app and start navigation.

2. In your second post you implied that there isn't an additional address verification screen that you have to touch. You implied that it is all hands free.

So which way does it work? Is it completely hands free? Or is there an address verification screen that you have to touch to start navigation on the phone?

Lol well now people have said you're wrong! Lol you have repeatedly called something out that Android can't do. But several people now have reported that it works for them. So come back to my your senses and just move on dude.....try to find something else to brag about.
You're just trying to call out something Android can't do whenever the thread or topic doesn't go your way.......kinda sad really.

Answer the question and do not obfuscate. How does it work with an address that is NOT saved as your home or work on Google Maps? Is it:

a. You call ok google>navigate to John Doe>address confirmation screen pops out>touch that screen>and navigation starts

OR

b. You call ok google>navigate to John Doe>and navigation starts.

It is a simple answer either a or b. I have tried it on three Android smartphone the latest one was an LG G4 on MM and only got it to work using method "a" on one address.

Yeah, I get the same option on my S7e, my 6SPlus actually takes me strait to navigation. Cool thing with Siri is I can just say "take me to my dad's house" and does it, Google now does a Web search.
