My really old Sanyo SCP-6200 phone from 2002 could do that and it wasn't the first. That's just basic feature phone functionality and not multitasking to the extent of a PC.

So only split screen is actually multitasking, right?

lol....yep buddy...ignorance is bliss. You just continue multitasking on your iphone. You keep breaking those barriers and get a text while on the internet you trail blazer you......

So only splitscreen is actually multitasking, right?

Your 6p is a 2015 device. So you should compare it to the 6s plus which fixed the problem you are complaining about with Safari. The 2 gigs of ram fixed a lot of ills with the first phablet Apple ever made. With Apple you should not buy a first generation anything. I am so glad I waited for 6s plus.
I largely agree.

Having owned every iPhone since the original, the S models are usually the best. However there's always our personal preferences that come into play. In my case I was so tired of Apple dragging it's feet for years... stubbornly refusing to build a phone with a modern sized display, that when they finally did create the iPhone 6 I bought one immediately.

You already know the answer to that question it has been answered several times for you know. Are you just being difficult on purpose? It was explained and discussed with you already so now you are just being argumentative and childish.

I want Android to allow me to voice navigate to an address in my contacts. That will not happen with google maps.

I can, however, ask Siri to navigate to an address in my contacts and it will do it with Maps.

I can even ask Siri to navigate to an address in my contacts and add two words "via transit" and I get to select ANY other navigation app that is on my iPhone to use.

Please tell me how I can do that with Android.
Did you keep up with the thread and context at all? Did you see what was being discussed and why or just jump in at the end and reply to something out of context? I know you have brought this up several times now in various threads about navigating to a contact on Android. Good for you! :)
The context was using default apps on IOS and not being able to change those default apps to other apps of one's choosing.
So you just bring up something Android can't do? Good for you buddy...way to go..... /s

So now that you brought up siri...ask her to navigate to one of your contacts...but instead use Google Maps instead.
Here's another one....you friend just texted you an address.....click on the link and lets see if you can use Google Maps.
Another friend emailed you a link to a meeting.....click on the link but have it open Google Maps instead of the builtin Apple Maps.
You don't have a choice in which app to use. You cannot change the default to what is preferred.
For me Google Maps and Chrome is better than the default.
Are there shortcomings in Android you bet! But that wasn't what the context was about.

So, as per the original post, do you think the the S7 is a threat to the iPhone ? Would you switch ?

My answer is no and no. Using Google services is not that important to me. Also if I wanted to use different maps and different browser, the advantages of the rest of the system out weigh any nuisances the fact that they are not the default causes.

Is using Safari and maps in those two instances really that big of a deal ? If so, maybe it is time for a switch.

Maybe iOS 10 will let you change default apps. Maybe it won't.

FWIW, Outlook intergrates rather nicely in iOS, but it could be a little better.

Personally I don't think the S7 will make the vast majority of Apple fans switch. Some will because its a new product but really they are both great phones.
I have both the S7 edge and 6s+ switch between them all the time. I would not give up either of them up tbh.
there are things one does better and things the other does better. For me having both is the best of both worlds.

that posts explains how ios multitasking works. so ios does have multitasking right? if it didnt, only one process could be running at the time, is that correct? but thats not true, right?

so what you define as multitasking is actually split screen and torrenting, am i right?

Uh, I can do that on my S7e? I say, "Take me to 'insert contact name' house" and it pulls up the contacts address for verification, which I then click on and Maps pops up with the route. Maybe this is something new with Marshmallow?

Realistically generally speaking whatever the latest model would be the best given that there are some improvements one way or another over the previous model (even if it was the S model).

I switched from an iPhone 6 to a Galaxy S7 and am really pleased with it.

It's quick, well designed and built, there's nothing clunky or awkward about it, all the apps I use are available on Android and are just as slick. The camera is fantastic too.

Is it a threat? I don't know, most people are lazy and given how many people already own an iPhone, they'll probably stick with it because it's easy. But competition is good, and I managed to pick up the S7 for significantly less than I could pick up a 6S on contract

It does work. I just tried it with Google Now as my launcher. "OK Google " take me home and it immediately bring up directionso to my house.

Boy that kinda sucks for you. You had that one thing you brought up so many times and now it works.

Nice write up on Forbes....

Forbes Now: Galaxy S7 Vs iPhone 6S Review: Easy Wins, Big Losses. http://google.com/newsstand/s/CBIwnazo4Sk

As much as I'm generally not a fan of the writer, don't really see much to disagree with. I don't think it should surprise anyone hear the Galaxy S7 is overall a better piece of hardware than the iPhone. They may prefer the iPhone but by all objective measures, it's not better.

So a computing device that sputters in lags is a better piece of hardware than one that doesn't ?

I understand that technically it's a software issue, but it's a package deal. History shows its only going to get worse.

So I buy an S7, buy new Samsung TVs, I'll spend a bunch of money for a shiner device that sputters, and still won't do half the stuff I do with the iPhone 6+. But hey, Google maps can be set as the default mapping app.

For example, the TouchWiz app drawer has the option to sort installed apps alphabetically but should you choose this you’ll have to resort them every time you install a new app as it will just be dumped at the end of the list by default. How did that escape testing?

I love that about TW app drawer. Sometimes I scroll through the app store out of boredom, and install several apps that caught my attention, but end up opening the apps later on. So much easier to just go to the app drawer and go to the end to find what I installed. Don't understand the complaint.

I know I'm going to regret this but...

Taken in a vacuum, phone vs. phone with none of the periphery involved (TVs, computers, etc), let's hear the list of half the things the iPhone 6+ can do that the Galaxy 7 can't...

I'll take the easy one's off the table for you:
- iMessages
- FaceTime

Works for your usage case but logically, doesn't make any sense. If I choose to sort alphabetically, if I install Firefox, logic dictates I'll find it with the other 'F's, not at the end.

I think they should have included the option to permanently put new installs straight to alphabetical order. But I wouldn't choose that option. And also plenty of times the icon is label in short hand, or label with the company's name first which starts with a differ letter, and vice versa. And sometimes I just forget the names of what I installed earlier. So it's much easier for me to find new apps in at the end of the list.

Why do you have to belittle the extra capabilities android has (more than just setting default apps btw)? That is its advantage. That extra bit of polish is ios' advantage

I'm also curious. What can an iPhone do that an Android phone can't? Besides using software designed specifically for iOS like iMessage and face time. I also believe that up until Android 6.0 certain music based connections and instruments could be fully integrated with iOS, but I think Google has addressed this? Not sure on this point?

Can you plug a USB drive into the iPhone and download files? Can you plug the phone into any PC and download any file onto your phone? Can you email any file type? Can you create custom ringtones? Can you put icons anywhere you want on the screen? Can you uninstall an app and not lose all your data associated with that app? Can you take photos and save the photo anywhere you want, share between any app, save in raw format? can you add storage? Can you disable apps? Can you customize your phone, so it doesn't look like every other iPhone? The list can go on and on. The iPhone is a fine phone, just severely limited on what it is capable of. I prefer to have a phone that is more like a computer than one that is more like a calculator.

Since you love google services so much, then you are better off using an Android phone.

I am not married to google services, but since Google wants advertising $$ from Apple users then it makes its services available to me. I can use them if I want to and ignore them if I want to.

Default or not, using google maps is a hey Siri and via transit away from me. You cannot even use Google maps to navigate by voice from contacts in an age when hands free driving is all the rage. Now that is poor implementation.

I will be first to agree that Apple Maps are inferior to Google Maps. But I can still use it hands free and still use it with messages, email, etc. of course, you can do the same with google maps and we both end up at the same destination. But until Google implements hands free navigation from contacts, it is inferior to not only Apple Maps but also to Google Maps on iOS in that one area.
