If we're going to discuss professions let me say I manage an IT team comprised of 35 people. I manage security for intranet and Internet. My team develops and tests for both in all four major US platforms. Which brings me to why I have an SGS7, I needed it for testing because the SGS5 we had was rendered useless for our testing due to Lollipop. I Bieber you might see a pattern.

If I have been lucky then I have had a stretch of luck running all the way back to 2009. No issues at all with any update since my 3GS which still runs. Slow, but it runs. Better than my Note 4, probably.

It appears you have terrible experiences with your iPhones. I happen to have terrible experiences with my Samsung devices. Which is why I skipped buying the SGS4, SGS5, SGS6, and Note 5. Would have slipped the SGS7 BUT REALLY NEEDED a device for testing and rather than spending huge amounts of energy and time in the procurement process at work, since the device won't ever touch the network, I bought it to use for testing of external responsive design pages.

Oh and I would never go to a third party for repairs. I only go to Apple. I've got Apple Care Plus. I didn't use it on my iPad because frankly if I do then that takes away my excuse for buying a new one. HA!!!
Just to clarify...the links I posted were from others having issues with their IOS devices. I am quite happy with my iPhone and iPad. But I have had issues with Bluetooth after the last IOS update. I always get my apple devices fixed by Apple as well. IMHO Apple has the best customer service in the world.

It didn't take them weeks. It took that long for the court and posturing to get done. Cellebrite has the process to a very repeatable stable process. What took so long was the FBI analyzing the data from the hack. Then to decide if they still wanted to pursue things in court.

http://www.patentlyapple.com/patent...-they-unlocked-the-san-bernardino-iphone.html
They used cellebrite. If you read their (vendor)website you can get more information about what is available and what is not. I'm not diving into it.

Honestly I think Samsung had an update ready for overall fixes and the April update was out from Google so they packaged it in. I would be VERY surprised if Samsung and the carriers continue monthly security updates.

there you go...again. I have an iPhone because i want one. There....you have it. Or should I use all caps or maybe bold it all for you. Do you assume that adds weight to your statements? Are you mad bruh? Stomping your feet? Got a frown on your face? Maybe you can highlight it or here's an idea...make it all red next time. Yeah that really shows people you mean business and your statements hold more weight than plain or black and white text....

Read my statements again. Try to comprehend....
All security breaches and exploits get socialized....it is common knowledge. The exploits and processes used by the FBI was from an third party external company. If you think this stuff doesn't leak, get bought and get socialized....you need to pull your head out of the sand.

So even though you just posted a bunch of links trying to detail how unsecure iPhone and iOS is, and with you being an IT security professional for a Fortune 500 company, you still use an iPhone 6s Plus as a daily driver sometimes as you say. Because you want to, as an IT security professional. All right then. It's your money and data to do as you wish.

Lol I'm not mad, just highlighting that you still supposedly use an iPhone as a security professional even though you just posted how unsecure an iPhone is.

Yup, I don't pay attention to most of the complaints others have. For example, tons of people had kittens over the Samsung chip on their devices. Meh. It's a non-issue for me. Also loads of people complained about screen issues. I could find no shadows on mine.

I keep track of the threads in case a new issue appears that I need help with. For example, the camera issues on the SGS7. IF I see it in want to know how to fix it. For my 9.3.1, I sought battery drain because I experienced an odd drop. So I looked for it and now it's solved.

Never saw a thing with safari though.

Yeah, this is definitely not going to last or be kept up with regularly, I predict, especially knowing Samsung and just the nature of Android updates in general (I'm happy to have Samsung and Tmobile prove me wrong though!). Any update that we are still getting is a bonus! Which is why I jokingly said "Eat it, Nexus users!" in the S7 thread. :p

I've said this a gazillion times: if updates are that important, there are Nexus devices or even better OEMs (like Motorola/Sony). Everyone is overall getting better at updating, but the best bet is Nexus.

Then on the iOS side, that's one area Apple has down. Updates. There are caveats like older devices not getting some of the features of the latest iOS update, but still, devices are supported for the most part for years, and that's something no one else can or will match for some time. Kudos to Apple for this; when it comes to updates and support, Apple is the leading example.

Once again, the Apple brand... very effective. In this case, against obnoxious carriers.

In the coming years, I hope Samsung exercises their brand, too, on carriers. This is one area they can definitely improve on. Less carrier bloat, faster updates, better overall support and CS.

based on your posts...why do you post in the alternative section....you don't like or own android phones? Why spend so much time in the Samsung threads? You have stated numerous times you don't like ort hate Samsung? Yet here you are in every Samsung thread. So why spend so much time and effort in threads for products you don't like?

I've never said I don't like android, never said I hated Samsung. I spend time in a lot of threads. Various ones. It's odd to me that a security professional with reservations about iOS security would still continue to use iOS devices.

If you notice, I always speak in the first person singular because I only speak of my experience. Take a look.

I post about Lollipop diminishing my user experience. I didn't say Lollipop destroys Note 4s.

A distinction, but an important one.

I find it odd to me someone who doesn't own or like Android devices spends so much time in this section about well.....Android devices. Then....you have stated over and over again how you have a dislike for Samsung and Android. I am sure I can find the post if needed but it might take some time. If you prefer IOS devices so much why spend so much time in the Samsung threads? Why not stay in the iPhone or related threads?

I prefer iPhone right now. I don't own an android right now. Doesn't mean I hate either android or Samsung. About the main criticism I have with Samsung is their power in Korea.

I guess you didn't read earlier I spend time in various threads. I don't feel like I have to own and keep every device in order to show curiosity. Hence these discussion forums.

I guess you didn't read in other threads and posts about my curiosity with phones. When curious...I buy them and use them. I feel like you gain a better perspective about a device through actually using them. There is no better experience than first hand experience. I don't keep all the devices I buy but I try to find a way to keep my some or them.

That's fine. It's your money and time. I'm not attacking you or calling you a hater of anything. Nor do I expect to be called that as well.

I've read your other threads, heavily pro Samsung imo. And that's fine. So I've questioned why keep the iPhone then. But if you want to keep it so be it. But it doesn't mean I'm a Samsung hater or android hater because I ask why.

correct...asking why doesn't make you a Samsung hater. But you have said to that effect here on MR. Once in reply to one of my posts.
I do like Samsung phones. Their phones just appeal to me and I have no qualms about saying it. But I do like other phones as well and proof is in my buying habits and I don't have to justify that to anyone.

This ^

The update was the same we got a week or more ago and we got the march security update.

Essentially you got the same update a week / 10 days later but they updated to April security patch.

We haven't had the April patch and in likelihood won't until they release another bigger bug fix update in which case we could get a May or June security update.

People are posturing over nothing again on the forum just to get a 1up over each other.

It took the Fbi weeks to break into one phone, how fast do you suppose an android can be cracked? Most digital things are not secure, the common element will not be able to hack an iPhone in our lifetimes regardless of the fear-mongering.
And yet they hacked it and are now saying that all devices currently being withheld by the cops can easily be unlocked now.So much for being the most secure device ever.
It didn't take them weeks btw. They just waited to see if Apple took the easy way out. When Apple started playing hardball,The FBI still got the last laugh.
As far as Android goes, even they are all fully encrypted. What makes you think they could have been easily unlocked?

lol...your right by the vast majority ordinary of folks. No they can't hack anything. Nice way to state the obvious.
But then we all don't have all kinds of security in place for the vast majority of folks do we....

The point being if the government wants access to most anything they can get it, except if you own a 6s. And I stated the obvious for a reason.

Nope, not if you have a 6s. See above.

I'm not sure that many of those devices shipped with FDE. I'm sure the s6 and g4 did, wonder if a certain early firmware is required for those. funny how nexus is not on that list at all

so I would say "It can't be hacked by ordinary folks and there are limitations." because truly these are not normal (i mean geeky) folks running adb commands / flashing files on their home pc's

weird how there is no note 3,4,or 5, definitely limitations. this isnt some androidwide vuln, but something in the particular phone bootloader, probably varies between region/variant too

if xda had bootloader unlock vulns (without wiping either, since the point is extraction) on all of those phones (particularly verizon variants) people would be freaking out with joy (well xda doesnt care about the extraction part), so it is definitely not commonplace

I know the s5 for example has recently had a publicly disclosed hardware vuln that requires samsung flash, which i guess is only in 50% of the phones. that list they gave is just way to vague to make blanket statements on android security

who is to say that someone else that hasnt made contact with the gov yet isnt sitting on a 6S vuln that would allow for extraction, we would never really know (the chinese would probably be the best bet since they have been responsible for the jailbreaks on ios 8 & 9 and are obviously getting quite familiar with ios security)

"Its a special cable made for kernel debugging that makes the jailbreaking process easier for hackers (security researchers). They are usually home made as Apple developers are the only ones allowed to have real one. The one depicted is said to be stolen from Apple and given to @Ionic from pangu members

Relevant link based on Stefan's presentation of how to make these pre lightning days (30 pin)http://m.instructables.com/id/Apple-iOS-SerialUSB-Cable-for-Kernel-Debugging/"

normal people wouldnt have this either, but there are extra tools available to compromise ios too
