Good opportunity to run the together and evaluate "side by side". Is the XS "close" as far as connectivity to the XR in your experience?

I've been running them side-by-side since the XR released and the XR doesn't get the XS speeds but the XR hasn't left me in nearly as many dead spots as the XS and XS Max. If I don't get signal on my XR I never get signal on my XS basically.

Thanks for the information. Trying to make a choice between them for wife and me. May end up picking up an XS Max and see how it works in my area before getting one for my wife.

Another thing that's interesting... my AirPods (bluetooth) still work if I leave my phone on my desk and walk almost 30 feet away to the kitchen. Definitely nothing wrong with bluetooth on my Max, either. :-S
I didn’t have a problem when they were connected. So I guess it wasn’t really a connectivity issue. The problem I would have was that 20-30 percent of the time the Max wouldn’t pair up with my earbuds or my car. So then, I’d have to forget them and re-pair all over again. Never had that problem with my Plus phone or with the new X. I didn’t even think about it too much as a big problem as I could fix it. But after getting the X, it was just so nice to have it just connect each and every time.

Thanks, that is worrisome. Now I am leaning to XR for trial.

Even with this long thread it still seems to be a split down the middle for whether or not people have issues. I'd say go for it and try it out, worst case you go in within the 14 day window to swap it for a different model.

Have the latest software releases improved the LTE problems, or do they just provide more bars with the same problems? I would like to get an XS Max but want to hold on to my X until I'm 100 percent sure that I will get a good XS Max with no issues.

This is one of the Youtubers who had problems initially on his Max. Apparently he also had some issues on the XR, too, but he says they are both fixed in the 12.1.1 beta.

Nice to meet you I am a Japanese living in Japan.

I have iPhoneXsMAX also malfunctioning mobile communication, the display of the antenna is weaker and slower than the conventional iPhone. Especially the radio wave grasp is bad.

The communication carrier is KDDI.

It is close to what you are discussing.

After a while on 12.1. I do feel that mobile reception is better. Far less drop outs or where people can’t hear me.. I do have a new xs Max being delivered today though. They finally had replacement units in stock.

So it definitely is affecting users in Japan... at least on AU. I've been wondering about that. KDDI/AU is the American equivalent of Verizon as it uses the CDMA configuration if I'm not mistaken.

If you bought the phone via the Apple store or via the internet then you have 7 days to return it and get a full refund according to previous Japanese consumer laws.

I don't know what the situation is when getting a phone from a carrier. Personally I don't think Japanese carriers are going to be very open to giving users new phones for this and will push back against it. I could be wrong though.

Do you live in a strong signal area or weak area?

Some folks have reported that the latest iOS updates have made no improvement in their connectivity issues while others say the updates have improved or completely fixed the problems.

Clearly, the variety of connectivity issues people have been reporting here and on other forums have a variety of causes, and software updates seem to be addressing some but not all of the causes.

Some people are still experiencing maddening connectivity problems with their XS or XS Max units. But my sense is the total number with problems is dropping: the number who were having problems who say they aren’t now (either due to software updates or replacing their device and getting one without problems) is higher than the number of new people reporting problems who previously had not reported them.

None of this helps folks who are still having serious LTE connectivity problems. I used to be one of them and I feel for them. Dealing with these problems can eat up a lot of your time and energy, and there’s the stress of knowing that you might be stuck with these problems for a year or more despite having paid $1200 or more for what Apple promised is the best and most premium iPhone it’s ever made.

But due to a steady stream of minor updates and due to the successes some of us are having with replacement units, it looks like your odds of getting a problem free Max are much higher. If you do decide to get a Max, just be prepared for the risk that you might have to replace your device before the 14-day return window closes. I think that’s a pretty small risk, but it’s still a risk.

Good luck with your decision, let us know what you do and how it turns out.

In spain this happens too.

I hope everyone is resetting their network settings after updating to any software version. I feel this improved things a lot. I know some people are reluctanct because they have so many WiFi passwords but you might find this will improve your lte andWiFi.

Hi

Although the influence is small at places where radio waves are strong, at the part where the antenna bar is small, the communication speed will be lowered due to the influence.

This is what happens to all smart phones, but it is particularly bad in other areas such as tunnels, indoors, areas with weak radio waves such as rural areas, and other smart phones and other iPhones in the Xs series.

Although I live in a good area of radio waves, I am in trouble because I am going to a weak area at work.

Beta 2 16C5043b
Carrier profiles have stablized (Tmobile) between iPhone/iPad 35.0 and even Apple Watch
Really happy with WiFi release and seek even through a reboot. This was also working better in beta 1 also
WiFi calling still take about 15 seconds to pinup.
Transfers between Wifi to LTE and back to WiFi have been great.
Modem Firmware is still getting point releases now at 1.02.16. from previous 1.02.09
Won't know if my connectivity issues have changed until end of week. However they were improved in beta 1
Speed tests have had more symmetrical or same upload/download rates then previously.
Still very hopeful
