Has anyone on Verizon tried switching to eSIM to see if their service has improved when compared to a physical SIM?

So there were a few people early on in this thread who said they couldn’t use their XS phones at Disneyland at all. I am in the park for a few days, and I have excellent service all over (on T-Mobile), including inside the majority of ride buildings (except for Indiana Jones, which has always been a no-service zone for me for 10 years).

No matter how hard I try, I cannot get this phone to perform poorly. Still no clue as to what causes others to have issues. :S

Different carriers use different bands. If you could try a Verizon SIM, you may have different results because they use different bands and possibly different algorithms to tell the phone when to switch bands.

At least one of the people I mentioned whose phone didn’t work at the park was also on T-Mobile. I’ve been on bands 4 and 12 on LTE when I checked field test, which are not exclusive to T-Mobile.

And when getting off the hotel elevator it switches super fast from 4G to LTE, no problem.

I reported that back in October. Phone was totally useless at Disneyland on Verizon. When I returned I got a replacement which has been much better I haven’t been back to Disney but, phone is working well now.

I'm headed to Disneyland tomorrow with T-Mobile and the XS Max on the latest beta (.1.2). Will report back.

At first I had minor connectivity issues, but they seem to have organically resolved and I now have great LTE connectivity - it really seems to fly compared to my 6S -- loving that gigabit LTE!

You should go back to Disney and test it as soon as possible. It is really important to test in the exact same locations.

I would love to have the opportunity to test this new phone there but, I don’t plan to go there anytime soon. Only went to take grand kids. Replacement iPhone works great.

I used my Xs Max on AT&T at Universal Studios and Animal Kingdom around halloween, and the only place I had trouble with signal was in Pandora Na'vi river journey and Flight of Passage.

I’m at Disneyland now, on t-mobile, with beta 11.1.2. Signal and speeds have been great so far (80+)

Since we're doing the anecdotal evidence thing, here's mine:

AT&T, my second XS after returning the first for reception issues, running the latest beta (which yes, did make a positive difference, but still has a long, long, long way to go):

2 bars of LTE service
0.13 Mpbs down
0.18 Mbps up

This phone is so far worse than my 8+ ever was. I made a terrible mistake upgrading. Never again am I'm buying iPhone models during their first year of production. (My second XS is a week 34 model, for what it's worth.)

I will admit that if you're service-privileged and live in an area with 4 bars of service, the connection is super-speedy. Unfortunately I like to use the phone as it was designed: as a mobile one. For instance, sending texts in a moving vehicle in DC and Brooklyn? Yeah, good luck with that.

I never realized how spoiled I was with my 8+ until I upgraded.

Hi folks,

An update since my last post (which contained horrific speeds, as seen above):

After moving my XS off of the beta to the official 12.1.1 release, I went to a wedding near Fort Lauderdale over the weekend, and my god, the reception and speeds down there were utterly ridiculous: I was easily pulling in 90 to 100 Mbps. And this was coming from my house in DC, where the week before, I was pulling in 0.13 Mbps.

What's interesting (and I can't explain this) is that when I returned to DC, my phone was much, much better. I'm not pulling down crazy speeds or anything (I'm averaging around 3 to 9 Mbps in my reception-challenged house) but my phone is now usable. I can actually use the thing off of wi-fi.

I don't really think anything changed between the last beta and the 12.1.1 release, but honestly (and thankfully), my phone behaves as a phone now. It's a huge relief.

For those of you who had reception issues, did moving to the official 12.1.1 release help any?
