Yes definitely make sure to open up a support case. Its the best way to ensure the issue is fixed.
I doubt any software fixes this problemiOS 12.0.1 seems to have been released. Looks like some modem updates and carrier updates too.

Sounds like you want there to be a widespread issue, and aren't interested in hearing any information that doesn't support a sky is falling scenario.I doubt any software fixes this problem
So far:

Once all the marketing hype and numerous worthless fake reviews are disregarded, one is left with a sense of wonder: is iPhone actually crap and we're all getting blindsided by the distortion field?
None of us on this board are qualified to make this determination.
From reading your posts, you’ve already determined that a full recall is needed.
From the Senior Rep I am working with it really doesn't sound good . This is a major issue lets see what 12.01 does when it drops later today. My expectations are very low and they are getting tons of calls about this subject.
I did not know this setting existed, thank you. I have turned it off and will report back with results later today.I remember a similar issue not with the 4, but a later model with similar LTE issues. We had to turn off cell network search. Settings>Location services>System services>Cell network search. That stopped the phone from bouncing back and forth from weaker towers

Where did you see this? I’m not seeing any updates for iOS or carrier. Not saying you are wrong at all, but just wondering.
They will never, ever, admit to something being a known problem. Unless there's an official notice from Apple (like in the case of the battery recalls, etc.)That’s weird. My rep claimed he hasn’t heard anything and didn’t see any service notes regarding it. Could my rep have been lying to cover?

I got my 512gb X Max unlocked version in Southern / Central Virginia yesterday while on a quick vacation. The phone had some problems with signals, kept dropping randomly, slow, etc. I restarted and now that I'm home in New Jersey, I'm getting insanely fast speeds on Verizon LTE, like 120mbs down.. yet my relatively quick office wifi is stuck around 27-34mbs down. My note 9 is pulling 60+, my surface pro 90+
I always keep that setting off and still had problems with Verizon and AT&TI turned off cell network search per instructions in my post above. My LTE speeds over the weekend during the day were at best 30 to 40 Mbps, with cell network search off, I'm back to 80 to 90 Mbps. May have nothing to do with it, but worth a try.
