Thanks. So much for that theory of mine.I always keep that setting off and still had problems with Verizon and AT&T

From the Senior Rep I am working with it really doesn't sound good . This is a major issue lets see what 12.01 does when it drops later today. My expectations are very low and they are getting tons of calls about this subject.
Update everyone local Apple store today.
Replaced the phone today at my local apple store same issue this is going back tomorrow for a refund something definitely not right here the genius bar staff was shocked we reset the iphone to brand new tried my old sim card terrible speeds with only 1-2 signal bars.
Move my sim card back to my iPhone X speed back to normal and signal bars showing 4-5.
Not taking any chances with this will wait out.

I have Three UK And EE both UK carriersWhat carrier do you have?
Apple is paying them not to. In fact, this and every thread pertaining to the issue is going to disappear in 3...2...1...Apples phones are getting blown up and yet this is still not on the frontpage of this site
I remember a similar issue not with the 4, but a later model with similar LTE issues. We had to turn off cell network search. Settings>Location services>System services>Cell network search. That stopped the phone from bouncing back and forth from weaker towers
That is indeed curious...Anyone's guess as to why they're dragging their feet on the issue though.
Man...You belong in the Apple board! This issue is easy to fix via software. Apple just needs to adjust performance of 6S, 7, 8 and X models so that it matches XS models and Voila! Everything will be all right!
Kinda hard to do that with the SIM-free model. My max seems to be working perfectly fine. I am using the SIM that came with it, rather than plugging in my old SIM, if that makes a difference. (I once had cellular issues trying to use an old SIM on a previous (new at the time) iPhone.. the issues cleared up when I used the new SIM.)
Posts like the one from OTACORB do give us some hope but clearly this is not a bad 'batch' of iphone max.Fingers crossed for a software fix, but I suspect this generation of iPhones will always suffer from poor connectivity.
if this is a hardware problem I would rather have a note 9 for a year. might be fun anyway to try something different.
I definitely don't want an unreliable phone for when I travel......
