If this is a hardware issue how stupid are they over at Apple?

Wow.....
They think people are too stupid to notice. For 2 years, they have been right about that.

i think it will change this year because now they actually stopped making ANY good iPhones. Last few years they could always point to reviews of the Qualcomm phones and say "See? Reception is fine! It's all in your head!"

I noticed on my X a downgrade to my 6S now I feel like my reception on the Xs Max is even worse.

The 8plus is also better than the X.

What is your experiance?

I feel like having more often no 3G or LTE/4G or Even no reception

By reception you mean bars. Or drop outs in calls?

If it is they better take the phone back after 14 days.
Or Apple release a statement saying no issue if you stand next to the cell phone tower to make calls full signal problem sorted.
Or worst offer us a stupid antenna case free of charge guarantee full signal with this case.

How could people not notice that their phones don’t connect to the internet or drop calls?

IDK but they did for years. I posted about this back when I had the misfortune of receiving an intel iPhone 7. It was obvious from the beginning that Intel modems were compromising the reception on the phones, but Apple just hand-waved it away and eventually started only selling the Qualcomm versions of the phone.

I am still waiting to receive my XS Max but I will definitely be returning it if there is even slightly worse reception than my Intel iPhone 7. I don't know how intel could be so inept as to spend 2 years designing a new modem and make it worse but it seems possible.

People will notice it more now that the younger data hungry generation own these phones.

Okay, so I got a chance to test my Qualcomm iPhone 7 against my iPhone XS (non-Max) on T-Mobile Band 2 in a big building where performance is usually poor. The iPhone 7 stomps all over the XS in downstream bandwidth when they both have LTE (6-10 Mbps vs 1-2 Mbps), but the bad news is that the XS will randomly drop to 4G/Edge too! The 7 holds onto LTE in the same situations. The XS couldn’t do any better even when it was on Band 66.

Pings on the Qualcomm 7 are about half of the XS, and upstream is about the same (sometimes slightly higher on the 7). Overall it is hard to be impressed with the XS’s fringe performance on WiFi or LTE. What a shame. Such a great phone otherwise! It is genuinely fast under good signal conditions, but that doesn’t make up for the times when you have no signal and the older phone would have!

Another one here UK version EE
Not a happy bunny at the moment just had two drop calls on EE Brand new iPhone XS MAX Received this morning had no drop calls with my old iPhone 8 plus.
Something isn't right about my signal too only on 1 bar reception hardly goes to 2 or 3 bars.
iPhone 8 on full bars at the moment.

Great. Do a video. For now it’s just another post by a newbie.

For the past two years,

Well a few posts before yours, someone posted actual data speeds

That’s not conclusive. For anyone to take this serious it needs to be a legit comparison where one phone outperforms the other.

You also have a good signal strength. The issue is not when the phone has a decent signal. The problem arises in weak areas. The X will maintain connection. The XS and Max will lose the connection.

Came here after seeing the story on the homepage (and having read a few other articles earlier today).

I didn't think much about it until I actually started paying attention, but I am now noticing issues. I got a XS Max 256gb AT&T on Friday. I have definitely noticed slow loading speeds in apps like Twitter and Facebook when opening up webpages. Cellular reception is definitely poorer than the 7 Plus I came from both at home and work (I have 2 bars at home and 2-3 at work, where on my 7 Plus I have had consistent 4 bars lately). Have not used it to make calls much, but have not had any drop yet, so it could always be a software issue displaying the signal (which I remember happening previously). I was also seeing the WiFi issue other have reported (I am on a Gig/Gig connection at work) and I was getting about 75 up and 100 down. After forgetting/rejoining the network I was back up to 300/300 and have not seen it fall back yet. (Cellular speeds seem on par with what my coworker is getting on his 7.)

Again, this is an AT&T phone so I definitely wanted to report my situation since a majority of issues seem to be with Verizon phones. I reached out to Apple Support on Twitter so we will see what they say.

All of these accounts are, although believable, standing on shaky popsicle sticks without any sort of scientific evidence.

Were just assuming there is no bias when people read about these issues and suddenly notice their device hasn’t been performing the same as before. None of these people have another phone laying around to show how one obviously sucks and other doesn’t? I would but my device seems within tolerance.
