As a bandaid fix it would confirm that it does work at least temporarily? And if it does work as least for awhile this can be fixed via software I would think.

Time, because it rules EVERYTHING!
A question for the U.K. XS and XS Max users, has anyone using the O2 signal (O2, Giff Gaff, Sky Mobile, Tesco Mobile) experienced this signal problem with their phones? I’m on Tesco mobile and in my house get a bar or two of LTE and would like to have the same if I upgrade.

Anyone? Wanted to move my post to the top of a page, don’t want to start another thread.

Yeah remember though, it was reps at the apple stores who also said that batteries were fine when there was an obvious defect on many.

Until Apple actually acknowledges the issue don't expect any of that to actually do anything.

My experience exactly. I'm on Verizon, and this affects me. At home, I'm in somewhat of a "shadow" for cell coverage -- one or two bars max on my iPhone 7. If I use the phone in front of my house where the cell signal is slightly stronger, I get dropped calls when the connection can't decide whether to use WiFi calling or not. If I'm in the back of my house near my WiFi gateway, where the cell signal is weaker, the connection is always using WiFi calling, no dropped calls and the voice quality is very good. I didn't know that Android gives you the option to prefer WiFi.

Good to hear I'm not the only one on Verizon with this issue. But mine seems to be worse, even in a good wifi area like my bedroom and right next to my wireless router I will sometimes get calls that sound like they are underwater, or I can hear my own voice in an echo. Just haven't had good experiences with it. Since this is a new phone I'm going to turn on wifi calling this week and see if maybe it's improved with the new hardware.

Says a lot about society as a whole as well...the movie "Idiocracy" is becoming a reality. Amazing how eerily accurate that movie was.

The hit movie in that movie was called "A-s." It is no different in my mind than the poop animoji that was so popular last year.

One of my absolute favorite movies, but as funny as it is, it's also truly very very scary.

IMO, -44dbm or lower. Make sure Wi-Fi is off. Dial *3001#12345#* A Main Menu will appear. Select LTE. Select Serving Cell Meas. The number after rsrq0 is your true signal strength. Anything above -45dbm is sub par IMO. :apple:
Uhh - you are saying anything above -45dBm for RSRQ? That isn't right...

"RSRQ – Indicates quality of the received signal, and its range is typically -19.5dB(bad) to -3dB (good)."

http://usatcorp.com/faqs/understanding-lte-signal-strength-values/

I typically use RSRP for signal diagnostics.

For LTE (IMO) anything under -100 is great. -101-110 okay-fair. -110-120 fringe. -120+ lucky to have a LTE signal.

Hmm might have to capitulate on my prior positive experiences with my Max. I had a few phone calls this morning and the other person couldn't hear me until I switched rooms in my house. I have Verizon and usually only have 1-2 bars in my house, this was how my X functioned this last year. With the XsMax it's very odd, it now shows me 3-4 bars in most places the X had 1-2 bars, far as I know checking Verizon's site no new towers have been added to my area and I've already had Verizon out to try and tweak the issue with no improvement. But now with that extra reception it seems the Max is getting worse reception, at least based on this mornings experience.

I really hope stuff like this isn't true: https://www.phonearena.com/news/iPhone-XS-Wi-Fi-LTE-antenna-tests-vs-Galaxy-S9-Pixel-3-XL_id109209 $1100 for a phone and I only have a few days to return it.
Return starts the day received. And for many of us, the clock started on 9/21. If you want a longer time frame to return, you can start a return online to mail in, and you will get longer to return.

So all of us have a bad RSQR value it appears. I'm around -20 on both the X and Xs Max, and I live 3/4 mile from the tower.

Stinks because I absolutely love the phone otherwise.

I got burned with the 4, and if it's the case this year with my Max, there won't be a 3rd chance that I give to Apple. I can always go back to Android.

I didn’t get burned with the 4.

Yes, we had to avoid holding it “wrong” or add bumper to it.
With that it had some of the best receptions. I was able to text or talk in remote outdoor areas (e.g. Everglades).

Better than most other generations, especially the 8 plus or now the XS Max.

If my XS Max would have the reception of the 4 with a bumper I would be a happy person.

so many conflicting things. Can you break down each one and after numbers should be.

I was saying a rsrp0 should be between -45 and - 140dBm
rsrq0 should be between -3 and —19dB as you stated.

There may have been a typo. My apologies. :apple:

In that case, rsrp0 is -112 for me while rsrq0 is -28 and I'm hanging out around 2 bars.. only seen the network drop once all day at work though...

My speed test is abysmal... 3.29 mb down, about the same up. Not sure how this compares to my previous phone...

Not sure speed is factor. More getting any type of signal.

I know you asked for people using O2 signal, but I still thought I'd reply bc UK:
I am with Voxi (Vodafone's signal) and I've noticed I no longer have 4 bars of 4G when at home (I did on my iPhone X). It hovers at 2 bars now, occasionally dropping to even just 1 bar. When out in the City Centre, I get 4 bars of 4G, but nothing loads (never had this problem on my iPhone X in the same places I'm noticing this!)

Man you have people trying all types of things to their $1000.00 plus just to get a good signal............... The only solution is to return the crap and then Apple will get off their asses........
ehh,. they'll still use the initial sale as a "sale" for their numbers.
