Questions for those that have returned their new phones?

If a real fix comes through, will you purchase another new phone or just wait until next year?

I notice that the Apple online store has the 8 and 7 versions still for sale but none of the X’s. Did they sell out of these or did they just pull them off the market? Any thoughts?

If it’s fixed in the next few weeks, I’ll reorder the same thing. (Max Silver 64GB)

If it’s not fixed before the XR launch, I’ll probably get that. It has the old 2x2 antenna and would still be an upgrade for me.

Says who?

Says me.

Your “conclusions” are based on nothing more than some online discussions and blogger posts.

I’m not saying that their isn’t a problem...just that it’s silly to think that any of us can say “it’s a hardware issue and no fix is possible” or “it’s a software issue and a fix is possible”.

I'm leaning in that direction too. But buying at launch is still a crapshoot for any newly designed phone. I don't know why I'm itching to buy a new phone when my iPhone 7 still does what I need. I guess I'm a sucker for Apple and its slick marketing.

But how do we not know an electronics engineer doesn’t comment or someone with expertise. Seems more likely on here than anywhere else.

Same. If fixed, I will move forward with the XS. If the XR is out in time I will give that a look.

Very sad to see iPhone having this issue. I had been a long time Android user until Apr 2017 when I decided to go all in with Apple. Mac, AW, AirPods and a 6s. Decided to skip the first gen and go with the S series. Love the phone coming from a 6S, but HIGHLY disappointed with the performance of the radios.

I had noticed some issues when I was using the WiFi in my house. It would sometimes become unresponsive on the phone despite having "full bars", forcing me to disconnect and reconnect to the WiFi. Wasn't until I started seeing Reddit and various other articles did I realize I had an issue.

I ran speed tests on my wife's iPhone 6s and my XS using our home wifi. I live in a fairly small 1/1 apartment and tested in various rooms side by side. The 6S hit 170+ mbps regardless of which room I'm in. The only time the XS hit near those speeds was if I was damn near on top of the router. If I walked just 5 feet out, my down speeds were cut in half.

When the info comes directly from upper Apple support then it has some weight

I very much doubt that you are in communication with “upper Apple support”.

I was well above Senior level support on Friday and my device is being captured by Apple Engineering today. Not shocked at all that you feel the need to keep on trolling me . You were proven wrong 5 years ago and continue to stalk and follow me on to other sites.

Yes...Verizon “senior management told me they changed their mind”. Sure they did.

And I doubt that Apple had you driving around for a 1000 miles to “help them out”.

And you never posted any “internal documents” from Verizon. Are you kidding? I’d be happy to post that exchange...I have it saved because it was so ridiculous and memorable.

It was the office of the President with Verizon . Not Senior management so you need to get your facts straight . You could at least be a smart troll :) and bring something new to the discussion.

It seems many more people on Verizon are having this issue compared to other carriers. Could it be that the modem is trying to connect to newer bands that are weaker in some areas compared to others? if that is the case, a carrier update could be sent out to direct the new phones to connect to more stable bands that last year's X was using. We may then not get the really fast speeds, but better connection and similar speeds to the X.

This is a good question.

I cannot prove this.. but will share..

I think it was the 6S+ that came with some new bands in the sim-free version. I had a lot of trouble with that phone. Similar issues in that it would not hold a signal and dropped calls. I was on Verizon at the time.

There was a strip of PCH that I took to work everyday, from Seal Beach to Newport Beach. Along that route, right before entering HB my signal would get weak normally. With the ‘new’ sim-free 6S+ (it may have been the 6..) I was dropping calls and losing most of my signal there. I think I ended up exchanging the sim-free version of the phone for a carrier one the issue was so bad...

Not sure if related.. but this made me remember that issue.. it could have been just that phone.. but the replacement worked as expected.

I am on AT&T in NYC and experiencing the problem. I don't think it's impacting users across carriers differently. I could be wrong, but many have posted with issues on AT&T as well.

Silly question, but is this happening to people when a case is on the phone as well?
Tried with and without case - no difference with my Max.

People are posted. I was on AT&T and didn't have any issues.
But the majority of complaints seem to come from those on verizon.
