You guys seem to get far higher than us in UK

Average home broadband speeds in the US are actually very much lower, but still higher than UK unfortunately (https://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.p...untry-ranking-by-average-broadband-speed.html). Fiber is now becoming more prominent in cities around the US and they have it here in Austin, Texas where I live so I had to take advantage of it!

Second this.. I don’t love many other att products... but the Fiber rocks.

Internet is the first thing I've ever had from AT&T and I just got it recently when moving into the area. Not much more expensive than 150-200 mbps speed either.

I’m on T-Mobile, went from a 7+ to the XS Max on the 21st. On Sunday I was in a spot I should have had a signal and LTE yet I had neither with the Max. I started researching and saw the new issues. I’ve tried the bandaid solutions and while it seems to be okay for a few hours here and there it’s not fixed. My problem is my $300 trade in offer with T-Mobile expires by October 18. T-Mobile won’t discuss anything with me unless Apple makes an official statement. Ugh. So to return, wait, keep my 7+ just in case.
Yeah that’s the problem. I’m pretty easygoing and wouldn’t ordinarily worry too much about this. But the clock ticking down on the return period makes me wish I knew more what’s going on. On AT&T we are seeing weird things on our Android phones too. So I don’t want to jump the gun and return a beautiful phone. Alas, I’m also trying to figure out if the display is impacting my migraine sensitivity. So it’s two things I’m trying to evaluate very fast.

Everything else about this XS Max rocks. I am really impressed with the fluidity of it and the camera and the other features.

So I have an XS and XS Max here next to me and both are on the same wifi network. My XS gets over 500Mbps and my Max is getting 42Mbps. Is this the problem that people are having?
A little bit different. Both your phones should have the issue or neither. With wifi the reported issue is it's not hanging on to the 5ghz network as some people report. Yet your max isn't even using the full speed of the 2.4ghz network. So something weird there.

I agree with you. I love the phone itself! I just don’t want to be stuck with paying more per month for not trading in my 7+ and a new phone that does not function like it should. (Bar wise I’m sitting at 2 consistently where I had full bars on my 7+)Oddly enough I too suffer from chronic migraines. I found for me as long as I keep the brightness down and I’m not staring up and down say at the Max and then the TV I’m okay. I also tend to play my games on my iPad. That helps too. It’s sad we have to think of these things!!

Yeah I reconnected to the network and it seems much better now, but both XS's seem to lag behind both my iPad and MBP in speed tests, usually by around 20%.

For example just got 720 on my MBP and 500 on the XS max.

Also just disabled my QOS on my network and have noticed that now all my devices are running at around 700-800 other than the max which is stuck at around 500-600. Should I separate my 5ghz and 2.5ghz bands with different SSID's and test the speeds again?

In a van down by the river
50 pages, 75,000 views. Apple with their head in the sand. Actually had an Apple chat agent "hang up on me" via chat. Unbelievable.
It would not be wise for Apple to comment prematurely. The best thing to do, is to gather information, try and reproduce the symptoms many people are reporting, and then ascertain if the problem is software related, hardware / design related, or both. Once the problem is found, a potential remedy can be put in place etc.

At this point, Apple is still gathering information etc.

If Apple comments now, by saying people have been reporting problems, you and many others will complain that they didn't say anything else.

If Apple comments that there is a problem and they are still gathering information, you and many others will complain that Apple didn't state when a fix would be available, especially with the return window drawing nigh.

If Apple comments Monday saying the problem is probably due to the carriers, and it is later determined, that Apple spoke too soon and the problem is iOS 12 or hardware, you and many others will complain that Apple didn't do enough report testing to find the real cause.

If Apple comments on Monday, you and many others will brush it off as a media relations stunt to quell the complainers etc.

Yeah unfortunately silence is their best option until they have a handle on the scope of the problem. As soon as they comment, the media will try to milk the maximum amount of drama out of it, so it's best to wait and provide concrete info.

It sucks that many will be in limbo, but if it's a serious concern to you then you can always return now and re-buy later. No point in losing sleep over it.

Is there any clear way to demonstrate these issues with LTE speed? Running speedtest on 5 bar LTE verizon is getting me 150Mbps down with 33Mbps up with a ping of 27ms (in boston). Seems pretty good. Do the people with severe problems get any high speed with good coverage?

Strong reception will have no issue. Go to a place with a weak signal. Compare with another phone on same network.

Just tested an iPhone 8, X and XS all on T-Mobile. The iPhone 8 consistently scored the lowest on speed test over LTE. The X and XS were close to the same results. Over WiFi using 5ghz. They were all the same. I haven’t noticed the XS under performing under any condition. I have several co workers on different networks and they all seem content. I live in the Tampa Bay Area which is saturated in coverage by all networks.

4G and WiFi speeds on my max is fine, getting way better 4G speeds on my XS max than I was on my X.

And my Virgin Media connection with a Netgear R8000 router. This is my top speed even when wired.

Yep. I'll get some ridiculously low speeds like 50 or 60 when I should be getting 150+
