Would make more sense the notch in landscape for the iPad Pro as guessing that’s how most people view their iPads.
I’m not sure what the common use is but I only use mine in landscape when watch a film on Netflix. Every other use is in portrait.

I just don’t see the point in notching out any of the screen on an iPad when the bezel doesn’t have to be as slim as an iPhone. The camera bits could be incorporated nicely but I guess Apple are running with the idea and want it to match one of their iPhone models.

I imagine it will have the notch as would need to from the sounds for Face ID which is clearly something they want to market on all major devices.

Oh I understand they are wanting to roll FaceID to the iPad range, I just don’t understand why the console containing the cameras needs to be stored in a notch eating into the screen when a thin bezel is perfectly acceptable on an iPad? Having seen how the same console is incorporated into the iPhone X this seems like a conscious style choice for the iPad rather than a need. But hey, it doesn’t concern me as I have only just upgraded my iPad so i’ll see what they look like in 4 years lol.

It’s not going anywhere anytime soon

They are adding it on the next iPad pros for a reason. It will remain until at least the next 4-5 years I would say.

The Notch isn’t necessarily just for the iPad Pro’s, the whole iPad line up will likely adopt the Notch once Apple can supplement the hardware requirements. The only iPad that may not have Face ID capabilities would be the entry level 9.7 iPad, if they continue to offer this in the future.

The Notch Brigade are like the Flat Earthers of the phone world, despite all evidence to the contrary they will only believe in the notch.

It usually gets pointed out that as the X has sold in the millions and this must be a sign of how great of a design the X is, there are millions of morons out there so it is inevitable that a lot of X's will get sold. The amount of X's sold is not an indicator of good design but rather that people will buy any old crap and think it's great.

Lets point out some other great features of the X;

Construction: Because Stainless Steel and Glass are now considered rare and premium.
OLED Screen: Because colour shift is awesome.
Camera: because you misssed red eye which has been extinct in the camera world for over a decade
UI: Because you prefer multiple gestures to close apps in multi tasking
Face ID: Because you hate unlocking your device when its flat on a table.
Uniqueness: China is coming for you.

Feel free to carry on defending the X though, you will sound exactly like a Flat Earther.

It's hard enough to create a post to upset people who can afford a $1,200 smartphone, but this is amateur hour. Let me guess- this is some community college project for Social Media And It's Impact On Society class, right?

Yes! Notch is here to stay for another 10 years!

My question to all of you?
Where would Apple place all the sensors/camera/ speaker grill without a Notch?

Under the screen technology? I know that's not feasible right now but it may be in the future?

I don't see the notch staying around that long. Not with the way Apple likes to push ahead with or without their full consumer base support.

What do you mean by “under the screen technology”? Wherever these sensors are placed, the screen can’t cover that area right? How would the sensors work then? A camera will still need to see what it’s looking at, which means it can’t be behind something.

I see you have 4 iphone X's. This is like boasting about your loses in a poker game.

Why don’t they put the phone parts on the back like the lens? You would hold the phone with the screen away from you taking a call and have a proper ear piece and microphone to use. That would also stop the screen getting covered in makeup as well! (If you use makeup )

Do you read your own posts? I mean they are funny and all but.....

Of course the notch will get smaller and at some point it will be gone. Most rational people understand that and it's called advancement.. What it does not mean, when it eventually happens, is that it was a failure..

You can continue to run around saying you are wrong to everyone who posts a different opinion than yours but until you have proof to back up your opinion maybe you should be telling yourself that you are wrong..
There’s a strangely well timed article that seems to back me up on this:
https://www.macrumors.com/2018/03/07/iphone-x-smaller-notch-2018-no-notch-2019/

Also I am not saying the notch is a failure, I don’t know where you got that idea from. I am saying it is not desirable and Apple intend to (and are working towards) removing it. You seem to agree with that so I don’t know why we are arguing, the difference (I think) is that you believe it won’t go away any time soon.
