Would you buy one of these if it was Apple and unique?

Sorry but this has to be one of the dumbest examples ever offered.. What purpose would the notch serve on a TV?

There is a thread in the MacBook Pro area that asked a similar Q about the notch on a MacBook Pro. That thread also offered a render of what would look like and yes I would buy a MacBook with the notch..

A 55" TV? A notch on that serves no purpose and its just flat out ridiculous to even suggest it.. But it does show how desperate some are to discredit it though.

We can continue on with ridiculous examples of the notch on an in-car GPS screen as well or the notch on a refrigerator screen but that's not really the topic of this thread. The Q asked was IF the notch was going to stay and I think Apple has been pretty clear on that. Get use to it or keep using the 8 line for the foreseeable future.

In case you missed it, here was the original question asked by the OP
just a question: do you guys then the notch will stay in the iPhone in the future or after iphone x they will find away to get rid of it?

I like your stile but AW and iPhone for $1200 ? so cheap? you should pay more

You're trying to be sarcastic but you actually raise an interesting point.

If Apple charged $1,800 or $2,000 for the iPhone X I'd still have paid it. In fact, if this September they announce a new X2 to replace the X and it's $2,500 I'd still pay it.

I'm in the Apple ecosystem and am never going to leave it and my iPhone is used so often in my work/personal life it would be foolish of me to be cheap with the money on something so important. If you can live with an iPhone 6 and achieve your life's goals that's great, go save yourself some money.

That’s good advice as you get the same level of productivity out of an iPhone 6 as you do out of an X. None of the newer iPhones offer anything extra in this department apart from the bigger screen perhaps but that’s comparable to Plus models and they are commonplace in the business arena.

When I have to think between Madsen or upgrade my iPhone 6S+ to an iPhone X when I am on SS ?
what would you do?
there are elderly people that using iPhone to be connected with grand children's and have an AW for health and emergency too

If a Plus model is released and replaces the standard size X as the ‘best and most expensive’ iPhone, would you buy it despite hating huge phones?

For me it's not about telling the world I have an X nor is it about telling the world I have a 1K phone.. I dig the notch because it's unique. During my usage I don't even notice the notch is there. When I do notice it, I appreciate it's uniqueness...

Context Matters ^^^

A long winded deflect is not a answer. For example a legitimate purpose could be:

A apple TV with face ID that only your face could turn on and not your kids.

If you would have said "I dig the notch because of its purpose" you would have a point. But you said "I dig the notch because it's unique", which was point of the premise of why I ask you the question in the first place.

So now that I gave you a legitimate example, I ask again, would you buy one of these if it was from Apple and Unique?

Or are you just going to sidestep it again with a long paragraph deflection?

Hahaha

So we have now digressed into a 5.8" phone screen being the same as a 55" TV? Both have a very large difference in how they are used..

Sorry but the comparison is just flat out silly and if you can't see the difference then there is no sense in anyone trying to explain it to you..

I am amused though that some will go to great lengths to slam the notch on the X.. So far that they make arguments that are pretty insane.

A paragraph of deflection? I answered your question and in just how dumb the comparison is.. What else were you hoping for? Someone to agree that a phone and a TV are the same? LOL

Insanity: Posting the same rendered 55" Notch having TV over and over again and expecting people to agree its a good comparison.

To answer your question. No I would not buy a TV with a notch. Why not you ask? Because my TV is 100% for watching video. It does nothing else and it does not need faceID. My phone is 2% watching video and 98% other and it does benefit from faceID.. See the difference?

No you responded to the question, you didn't answer it. There's a difference, you just can't seem to comprehend.

You also can't seem to comprehend that screens are meant to be symmetrical for a reason, regardless of what size it is.
The fact that can't answer shows how dumb you're comparison is compared to mine.

I'm amused that you would go to such great lengths to defend the Apple Ibrow. So far I find your non answers pretty insane.

( I see you edited your post, to save face. Your original post can still be seen in quotes.)

Well to start your TV render is not even correct. If you want to render it correctly then you'd need to move the notch to the left. or right side of the TV to mimic holding an iPhone X in landscape mode. I'll go ahead and give the render a FAIL for that reason alone never mind all the other problems with your comparison.. Sorry I am still giggling over your comparison.......

The last edit to my post was for spelling error and was made 11 minutes before you posted your response. This is easily seen via post time stamps for edits. Give it a rest already.. Trying to discredit someone with bogus info is common place when you can't make sense of your own argument.

Anyways, we are way off topic so I'll leave it be so the mods don't need to do a cleanup like they did in the other thread that went way off topic.

NFL ratings went through the roof when CBS put a notch on their broadcasts.

I love the notch. I’m a notcho.

Love it!

So maybe back on topic.. The notch is here to stay I believe, so those who don't like are done with iPhones I assume? Apple has been pretty clear it's the future so where do the people who dislike the notch go from here? Android? Oh wait, rumors are saying new Android phones might be sporting it was well.. Flip phones?

This is not hard. Connect the dots.

...thats the whole point....Any render of a Apple Ibrow on ANY sides of the screen is a fail, be it correct or not.

Comprehension is your friend.

Not sure but I hope they go away.

The notch is cool. I don’t expect the ramen crowd to get it.

It's entertaining especially when you get to see a notch rendered on a TV. I would have personally notch'ed out an old drive in movie projection screen.. I mean if you are gonna go crazy with it, might as well go bat #**# crazy with it right?

I assume some are done with iPhones based on the responses and since it's all Apple will be doing in short order. I guess non notchonians can stock up on iPhone 8's and keep them new in box for use later down the line.

I don't see the notch going away. I am sure Apple will find a way to make it smaller but it's here to stay. All of the apps I use have been updated so the notch is not even noticeable unless you want it to be that is..

Why would they want to make it smaller, if its not noticeable anymore as you say?

You did say you believe its here to stay, and you find it unique.

Doesn't that mean you like it the way it is and will be unhappy if Apple makes it smaller?

I've said the notch does not bother me and it does not. If Apple makes the notch smaller then so be it and even at 1mm smaller it would still offer the unique look..

Now you are just playing silly and childish word games. To the ignore list.. Quote me and play games all you like as I'll never see them. :D

I absolutely love Face ID and even if the notch bothered me, which it doesn't in the least, it would be worth it for that feature alone. There is absolutely nothing better than having the phone instantaneously be available to use as soon as I pick it up.

As to the TV comparison: Movies on my 75" Samsung almost invariably are in letterbox format. Is the top and bottom black band upsetting to those who dislike the notch on the phone? Perhaps. But realistically, I would think that Apple or Logitech (Harmony remotes) might put a notch in their remotes for the same type of instant access rather than TV manufacturers putting facial recognition on a screen.

True, but for others (like gamers) out there, and they watch at full screen, so for them it would be a huge issue.

Face ID is nice, but your always going to have those that never going to except distractions in a screen. So until they find a way to put the screen back symmetrical, your going to have floods of threads like this.

I could see this along with it getting implemented into iPads next.. I even saw a render recently where the SE had faceID and the notch. That SE render looked flipping sweet!

Here is a video of the SE render I saw.

The one thing about the Apple Watch, it’s actually heavily marketed as a fashion device. Yes, it’s expensive for the ceramic and Hermes Edition, but Apple truly wants to have the Apple Watch be part of someone’s life with fitness/communication, yet be stylish and a functional time piece in the same respect.

I understand your objections completely for the purpose of gaming or watching video on your phone. For some of us who rarely do those things on our phones, please help us understand why you would purchase the X at all. No disrespect intended.

It is my understanding that the 8 and 8Plus are pretty much identical other than the facial recognition, hence the notch. Please don't deprive those of us who want facial recognition and don't mind the notch since it seems those who do mind, have another alternative. My preference only, but I would purchase an 8Plus for either gaming or video for screen size and absence of notch. I'm just unsure about why there is so much grousing about the notch when the alternative is there.
