I have always use android as my main driver. When I use iphone I always get the feeling the UI is in slow motion (although it feels very smooth).

The scrolling on my iPhone is slow but I do understand that Apple artificially limits it. But it's so smooth. My God.... I had forgotten how good iOS was for scrolling and zooming in.

I would not describe my gone Galaxy S5 as laggy by any means. It was very responsive, and smooth.

My Note 4 has also been a smooth operator.

Yes the Touchwiz UI and experience lacks the fluidity of iOS and is a big clunky in places, but laggy? I wouldn't say so.

Out the box though, I can see why android phones stutter the way the they do. They are so bloated up the rump and garbage apps eating up processes and memory, which will impact performance.

Get that stuff removed, and only have the apps you actually want running in the background. Does wonders.

But yes I do regard iOS as more fluid as an experience, smoother, more responsive, and less laggy overall. The Nexus 6 though, is pretty buttery. Very iOS class in that regard.

I am realizing that bloatware has a lot to do with lag. My AT&T Note 4 lagged quite a bit, but my current Tmobile Note 4 hasn't lagged yet. There are a couple of exceptions. Samsung email app is TERRIBLE, it takes a long time to open, longer depending on how many emails you have. Hangouts is still a bit leggy to open the first time. The recent apps can be slow, but once again it's much better on the Tmobile one.

I like zooming on iphone better. But scrolling is still way too slow compared to android.

I hear you this is true.

After being on android for awhile I can't handle iOS scrolling anymore though. If you are ever going to jailbreak I highly recommend fascy for faster scrolling, I can't live without it now! Essential tweak imo

Nope. Unless you're using a 4S running iOS 8.

Confirmed on a 5S. If I unlock the phone and try to swipe the home screen within .000001 (1 x 10-6) seconds of the home screen being shown, it won't swipe. But if I wait .00001 (1 X 10-5) seconds the home screen will free up and I can then swipe the screen.

Is this why Android is so 'laggy'

I'm curious if the 6 or 6 plus has lag in the multitasking recent apps tab? When closing out apps does it tend to lag like the iPhone 5s?

Something like this where the app is closed but you still see the icons.

Not on my 6 plus current and never experienced it on my 6 before that.

That doesn't happen on my 5s.

Jeesh a lot of responses for an obvious flame bait thread but I will bite anyway...

You need be more specific when saying an Android phone is laggy. With many phones and different versions of skins saying Android as a whole is laggy is a ridiculous statement.

I have the new Moto X and it is far from laggy at all.

I also have a iPhone 6 but have had far more issues with it than the Moto X, namely with the messages app doing bizarre stuff like this regularly.

Thanks for the tip, but oddly enough I'm happy with stock iOS which is saying a lot since the last time I had an iPhone, I would only update to the latest iOS version if a jailbreak was out for it.

The new sharing and being able to use Fleksy as my keyboard has totally changed the experience for me.

Did you restore from a backup? I also have an iPhone 6 but I use Fleksy maybe somehow SwiftKey is causing that? Lol

If possible can you try restoring it? I haven't had an iPhone in 2-3 years so I didn't have a backup for it and as new it is amazing.

Maybe but I'm using my new Moto X at the moment, quite happy with it. Really liked the handoff thingo in iOS though as I all MAC and home/work.

Same here. And whilst the Moto X is very good i find i'm already missing my iPhone. There's a certain polish that iOS and its apps just have.

I fired up the Vine app on Android and it was a very subpar experience. Jerky UI and stuttering video playback. I also prefer the iOS version of whatsapp to Android.

Hard to describe but i feel 'more at ease' when using iOS than i do Android. Even though i love Lollipop/Moto X

Can I ask where ? I honestly have had no lag or stutters on my iPhone 6 plus either. Though I have reduced motion enabled, I never have experienced any issues in regards to performance.

Absolutely no stutters or lag here either on my 6 Plus, blisteringly fast and smooth

Hence I'm rocking both and must say I really appreciate the pair.

I think I'm going to sell my Galaxy Alpha. The Moto X is just a cracking phone and feels just as premium as the Alpha ever did.

Lollipop is impressive and moto's own extras really improve it further rather than dilute the experience.

Ironically I can see a lot of aesthetic cohesiveness between material flat lollipop and iOS 8 flat design ethos too.

Its interesting that they are starting to reach similar design principals, albeit from different starting positions.

The pair (iPhone 6/6 plus and moto X) make a really compelling experience for me, it feels like the best of both worlds and I appreciate that.

I'm not the dexterous where I can close three at once. I swipe up once with my forefinger for each app to be closed.

Yeah I can close multiple apps swiping and don't get any lag doing so either.

Yep genuinely surprised me as I had expected it when going from my 6 to the 6 plus simply because I had read about it on threads, and yet I haven't experienced any. Its all been smooth sailing for me and I much prefer the iOS experience on the plus with the extra features over what i had with 6.

I'm the opposite but I lasted much longer on the iPhone 6 than my other iPhones before returning to Android.

How is whatsapp on the iOS better than Android? The Android version lets you choose whatever notification sound you want but the iOS version can't do that.

Never used Vine but the apps I use that are cross OS's are equally good on both. The "polished" argument is way too old now.

I was doing some reading, and someone said that the reason android is not as smooth as iOS is because android runs in something like virtual box but with iOS, it is run natively on the phone.

"Dont buy the cheapest one on next time..."

Never experienced lagginess (is that a word?) with android. Never bought the cheapest one and expected to get a great experience...

My personal gripe with the Android version is you don't get access to your whatsapp contacts list (not regular contacts) unless you're starting a new message. You also can't quickly view a contact's profile pic without triggering the back button. Not really bothered about notification sounds but i agree its nifty feature that the Android version affords.

Never used Vine but the apps I use that are cross OS's are equally good on both. The "polished" argument is way too old now.

I agree its becoming more and more of an esoteric argument. Because most of the apps are more than equal. But there are still some apps i'd rather use on iOS than Android.

Yep. I'm most likely keeping the Moto X but my workhorse will likely be the iPhone 6. With the Moto X serving as a backup/alternative
