I also get the issue just multitasking between regular nonsafari apps that I have previously opened that really shouldn't need a reload

Again the has not been my experience on norther my Nexus 4 or iPhone 6.it happens entirely too much on my iPad 2.

Well I would argue safari tab / app refresh issues during multitasking is a form of lag but merry Christmas :)

Android certainly has its niggles too

Optimized apps for the 6 Plus and 6 barely ever reload on me, which is really what i only use

android phones are absolutely garbage.

i can pin point exactly who uses an android just based off their snapchat/instagram videos. laggy as hell and terrible quality.

my friend she has an S5, sends me the choppiest videos a potato takes better videos.

my friend with an iPhone 5S sends me crystal clear HD snaps all the time on the other hand.

Wow what an insightful and intelligent post! I would love to hear some more fantastic examples of how Android (didn't there was a brand of phone called Android..) phones are "absolutely garbage".

So you have experienced these same issues on the 6+

Yes but it's not bad and it is only a slight hesitation.

Wasting your time with people like that. Just report him and move on. Don't stoop to his level.

Instagram actually has serious longstanding issues on android, there is a huge thread on xda, Dev just doesn't seem to care. Basically you have to prep your photos outside of Instagram to whatever resolution it is that Instagram uses

Never used Snapchat, but my videos are fine when viewed from a computer, probably compression issues

you seem very upset. maybe if you had an iPhone you would be happier.

sorry but i just lol when i get snapchats from people using android phones that are 10 frames a second and the quality is 140p. EVERY SINGLE TIME.

I have a iPhone 6 64GB actually.

Right so because you have an issue with a 3rd party app on Android that makes all Android phones "absolutely garbage"?

This is interesting because all of the snaps I get from any phone (mostly iPhone 6 & 6+) all look pretty sub-par. Though I've never thought of snapchat/instagram as having great image/video quality though.

I don't know if I could go back to iOS after moving to the Nexus 6. Maybe the iPhone 6s+ or whatever it's called could tempt me back if iOS makes some drastic updates to the UI. I had to leave because iOS 8 was so uncharacteristically buggy, and the first update causing more headaches than they solved.

I used to be in the camp of "Android is laggy, slow, jittery"... tried Motorola Moto G, a budget Android with an almost stock Android... changed my mind. It does need improvement in some areas though such as:

Text Selection, Cut/Copy-Paste need to be improved.
Levers, UI controls need to be more interactive - Precision scrubbing is needed.
Undo.
Built in Dictionary.
Sounds customization.
Homescreen redraw fix.

On the other hand I can list a ton of things that need to be improved on iOS too, so no OS is perfect.

What's wrong with the copy/paste and the sounds? Way easier to add custom tones in Android.

iOS has just as much lag. The difference is the lag in iOS is consistent and made part of animations.

The problem is not lag but difference in reponsiveness.

In iOS, home button has a long animation, but its the same every time. So do most other things. Everything in iOS is designed around this.

In Android, home/recents can be fast, but next time they will take longer, which to the user is much more noticeable because the system isn't consistent.

UI designers know this and thus app repossess time is much more important than total time taken.

Enable reduced motion in settings to disable this long animations and replace them with quick fades.

IOS is not designed around them.....

I'm picking up a note 4 this afternoon. I do notice the odd bit of lag on my 6+, nothing crazy but the odd second here and there. I'm fed up chasing the 'perfect' smartphone and am happy to just enjoy using them and their various functions. A second or two is not going to impact on my life in reality, so if things sometimes take a bit longer to open, it's not the end of the world.

If the note 4 runs smooth overall, the delay in opening recent apps isn't going to frustrate me like it once would of and I'll be keeping it.

Lol, calling Android garbage due to a 3rd party app is just pathetic.
Whats with the trolls around here ruining a discussion that was good???

Snapchat and Instagram pics+vids done on my Note 4, friends GS5s and iPhone 6s all look about the same, I can't even tell who is using what.

Agree 100% One of my biggest gripes with the platform.

When i think of lag in Android or iOS, i am thinking the device has choppy low framerate or the animation isn't responding immediately.

Usually in iOS it is mostly long animations but they run smoothly and mostly lag free and are quick to respond to an user action. Wheras Android referring to lollipop, is faster and usually responds instantly, (previous versions of android did not) is almost if not as smooth, except it drops major frames when scrolling or pinching to zoom.

That is how i see it anyway after going back and forth between the two Systems.

I guess what this really shows us is how hard it is to design a modern touch based smart phone as its not like apple and google don't have their best working at it.
