What's wrong with the copy/paste and the sounds? Way easier to add custom tones in Android.

Copy/Paste is very clunky. Sometimes you want to paste something but the Paste button will appear in such a way that it blocks the access.

As for the tones. There is no set system to set them. First of all you have to have a third party filesystem browser to set them. Then when you set it, you cannot remove it, it seems. Also how to set custom message tones? Email tones? etc... in iOS it's all in one place, and while the initial transfer is cumbersome and you have to use iTunes, when it's on the device, selecting and setting tones is super easy.

Never happened to me with the copy/paste.

You simply place the tones in the Notifications folder on the device then they appear automatically for selection. Far easier than iOS where you have to convert them to a special format.

Also in Android you can set any song in your library as your ringtone.

Not sure what you're saying. To paste I just tap to position cursor and long press to paste. Text selection on android is also less cumbersome without the manifying bubble like in iOS.

For ring tones just copy to the media folder and it will show up in selection. Or to remove just delete from there. Very simple without going through complicated itunes steps.

Yeah I don't understand what Cod3 is saying. I fyou use an ap like zedge to download tones they are all automatically stored in the media folder so if you decided to change anything itll ask what app you want to look in, which you can select zedge or media....

A nice thing especially with Samsung Androids is the Clipboard function, where you can copy multiple items without the latest erasing the previous item copied, some Android keyboards like TouchPal support this to, so that means I can copy multiple bits of texts and images e.g. when I copy/paste articles or quotes to a forum, to WhatsApp, Twitter etc... Without having to go back and forth, I can sit and paste all that I copied, my damn iPad can't do it thanks to limited iOS, but this has been a function since the Galaxy S2 in Samsungs.

EDIT:

Lets not forget Smart Select and Image Clip in the Note series, I can copy text and images from images, widgets, posters, FB, Twitter, Instagram etc... Anything that is on the screen I can copy without having to take a screenshot, I just highlight exactly what I want and boom, its in my clipboard, it will take what I select and break it down to Images, Text, Numbers etc... So if I go by a poster e.g. on FB, I can smart select the whole thing, my Note 4 will recognise contact numbers, Images and Addresses, and give them to me each broken down, so if I want just the address, I click on it and Google Maps opens up, I want the contact numbers? Hit Contact will allow me to save, call or share that number.

Android isn't laggy anymore in my experience. My original Galaxy note was laggy as hell, but all the android devices I've used since the Galaxy S3 have been lag free. The nexus 7 2013 runs stock android and is as smooth as any iOS device I've ever used.

Is this why Android is so 'laggy'

Not sure that argument has a 'leg' to stand on ...... ;) :)

Oh damn, I did not know you could simply drop files into those (Ringtones, Notifications) folders. Thanks!

Still though, you need a third party file manager for that.

What I'd like is something like Windows. A built into sound manager for Android, where you can change not only ringtones and notifications, but system sounds as well, such as the tapping sound. You need to root your phone as far as I know to change that.

Oh yeah, but most of devices comes with a preinstalled file manager. If not, then you need to install it from playstore... Never needed to do that myself...

You have two options

1) Connect it via USB to PC or MAC then drop the files in the folder.
2) As you said install a 3rd party file manager on the device.

Neither of these very simple options are available on iOS.

Kind of sounds like you are trying to make this harder than it needs to be

The thing I don't like about Android copy/paste, besides the already mentioned difficulty in selecting text, is that the icons are so confusing, instead of having simple words like 'cut, copy, paste'.

It must be really frustrating for new users in particular. I really appreciate things oem's add like LG's and Samsung's clipboard tray which keeps last 4-5 copied text items, and its better than stock.

I was doing some reading, and someone said that the reason android is not as smooth as iOS is because android runs in something like virtual box but with iOS, it is run natively on the phone.

Not quite true.

Someone heard the term "virtual machine" and went running with it...

Among Android's, ahem, artful borrowings from others in the computing industry is its vellum-tracing of Sun/Oracle's Java virtual machine. The Android VM, Dalvik, provides the playpens that each app runs in. It bears zero resemblance to VirtualBox, which allows entirely different and diverse operating systems to be run as guests on a single computer.

The technical explanations of Android lagginess was a point of spirited discussion a couple years ago. https://plus.google.com/+AndrewMunn/posts/VDkV9XaJRGS is a great example and has been updated with commentary and links that cover inaccuracies in Munn's original post. It's worth going through the links.

But ultimately it's kind of an obsolete topic, as the lagginess has largely been eliminated in the more-modern, more-powerful hardware that most on this forum might be interested in.

My Z3 is pretty smooth, so did my S III before the Android 4.3 update crippled its performance.

iOS 8 on my iPad 3 is a very laggy experience, however.

Swype makes this worlds easier. With it, you just swipe from the Swype symbol in the lower left corner to C, X, V to copy, cut, and paste, or to A to select all. Totally intuitive, just like doing it on a computer.

How text editing worked on Android is what I miss most since going from Note 2 to iPhone 6 Plus. In this regard I really feel that I've taken a step back in terms of productivity.

On the Note devices, it is very easy to select text using the S-Pen stylus. I admit that doing it using a finger could be another story.

I love Android. But only stock/close to stock Android used on Nexus devices or phones by Motorola. I can't stand anything put out by Samsung. They have great hardware but the OS modifications kill it for me. So much useless apps and skinning that really kills the Android experience for me. I had a SII and SIII and after a few updates... you could really feel the system start bogging down. The Nexus 4 and 5 I have right now have been the complete opposite. They both run fantastic.

I'm currently using a Nexus 5 and it's been my favorite devices so far. But I'll be making a switch to iOS soon with the iPhone 6. Why the switch? I want something different. I want to see what iOS is like (again). I haven't used an iOS device since iOS4 with the iPod Touch 4.
