I also see it on my M2. I can do a Google search on Safari and then use Chrome on the same search but I don’t see it on the chrome search while scrolling. I went back in fore but never did show on the Chrome. Some sites such as Reddit look OK on safari. Hopefully 16.2 with fix it.

I notice that as well. Even when I use google on safari, I don’t see the problem. Now on the app Apollo for Reddit, it can look pretty bad

I would encourage everyone who has this issue to file a bug report with Apple at the following link:

Only takes a minute but will hopefully bring some attention to the problem.

Thanks, done. Hate to return the iPad but will get it again once the issue is resolved.

Same issue here on an 11" iPad Pro, considering returning as well. Reassuring to see it may just be a software issue, I thought the panel was just that slow in the pixel response time department.

This does not appear to be a widespread problem. Really didn’t find much at all searching. I called Apple and they are sending me another one. Should be here early next week.

Hope you have better luck with your replacement unit. I just returned mine and will wait for a software update to see if it fixes the issue. My 2020 iPad Pro will do it for now. I will miss the screen though.

Yeah, if I had an M2 Pro I would keep returning it until I got one that isn‘t affected. For those of us with out-of-warranty M1s a software fix is our only hope anyways.

If anyone goes to the Apple Store can they checkout the display models to see if they do it? I am going on Monday or Tuesday can report back then.

I am not planning to return mine. Given this behavior only happens in Dark Mode and Night Shift on (and vanishes if the latter is off) I am pretty confident it is a software bug. Don't want to play the display lottery. My 12.9 is otherwise pristine and not giving it up for that rather odd behavior in specific circumstances. I will check how it does in movie settings though in the next two weeks in case there is anything else going on.

Did you try scrolling a full-screen reading app in dark mode? Even with Night Shift and True Tone off, I saw a dimming/blurring of text on Kindle and similar apps even though it didn't change color. I also saw it in Safari with any narrow text in dark mode regardless of other settings. When I rolled back to 15.7, it all worked fine again.

Turning night shift off cleared up some of the issues, but not all in my experience. But I only knew it because I had a year of good scrolling as a benchmark with my 12.9" M1 iPad.

There is some blurring, I agree. That it vanished for you when rolling back to 15.7 confirms it’s a software issue that eventually will be addressed with an update.

Glad to see more people are seeing the issue. Fingers crossed a software can fix this. Cause besides this issue and some blooming, I love the screen
On iPad OS 16.1 on my new 11” M2 Turned on Dark Mode and night shift and I get ZERO trailing or blur none

I think this is happening only on the iPad Pro that has the mini LED display which the 11 inch doesn’t. My 2020 iPad which is not MiniLED is also fine.

I just thought I’d try my 12.9 m1 out of curiosity and I’m on software 16.1 and I don’t have this issue.

Immediately noticed it after I installed 16.1. Noticeable trailing/ghosting/blurring, white text dimming on dark background. Scrolling also does not look that smooth anymore. And Energy saver mode looks like 30FPS instead of 60FPS. It's horrible.

Well I went to Apple Store and the display models have it to in dark mode. When I toggled off True Tone in dark mode there is no yellow when scrolling. It has to be software.

Same exact issue on my brand new iPad 12.9 M2, noticed a lot of blurryness/ghosting on text or while scrolling. And now I did the test with your settings and got the same exact issue.

I first notices it when opened the Apple Store App (The one you purchase apple stuff not the App Store), went to the iPad section and move up and down and the iPad miniatures distorted a lot.

My 11” M2 is exhibiting the issue, only with night shift and dark mode enabled.
Do you notice any other blurryness on text or stuff like that (without dark mode or night shift enabled) go to the Apple Webiste or Apple Store App search for the iPad Pro miniature image and scroll up and down do you notice any distortion?
