I was so excited to get Google now as I really thought it would be the nucleus of my device lol but when the jellybean update finally came I was disappointed. It told me the weather, the distance from work and my football teams score. That was it. I always wonder if it was more useful for people in the US.

Yep, Maybe it is better in the USA, but here it's auto suggestions / info served is definitely basic

Additionally Google On Tap is very 'meh' to say the least. The least impressive addition to Marshmallow

Just search through Google's own apps on the play store. You should be able to find it if your using a Samsung device.

the link just give me "Sorry! This content is not available in your country yet. We're working to bring the content you love to more countries as quickly as possible."

so maybe this is the reason why hidef cant find it either.

Maybe try this link ?

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.chrome.deviceextras.samsung&hl=en

Never mind - see it's the same link - strange that its now limited ???

Chrome Samsung Support Library IS installed by default on S6, S6 Edge, Note 5, S6 Edge Plus and if I remember correctly on the S5. It's very easy to tell because it is the first app that updates itself.

Here in the USA on Verizon anyway.

Chrome is still WAY terrible compared to Safari on iOS.
[doublepost=1452103594][/doublepost]App wise:

Chrome < Safari in rendering speed, usability, ad blocking. I also use CM Browser but it isn't much better.

Google MAPS Framerate jumps way SUB 30. No smooth transitions, just jittery jump jump jump when hitting navigation buttons. On the most powerful SoC right now on Android (Exynos 7420, with 8 cores). Nice Google nice. It's much smoother on iOS.

Google Play Music is way screwed up in sync and playlist management. I won't get into it.

DoubleTwist has no fade, pauses on Navigation, generally is a HORRIBLE piece of software.

Shuttle (which is what I use now) plays music well but periodically gets kicked out of memory so my S6 Edge Plus does NOT autoplay in BlueTooth when in my car (2015 Mercedes C300)

The Outlook App CAN'T turn off the vibrate for notifications. I don't want email vibrations in my pocket all day, I only care about messages.

Android actually uses MORE battery life while on WiFi when the device is not in use. I mean, is this really rocket science? What is wrong with your programmers that you can't even leave WiFi on without draining the battery?

Hangouts is plain inferior so I won't get into that either.

Facebook - If you disable background app refresh the app will periodically stop working "No Connection". Ok, do I take this error versus battery sucking iOS Facebook App? It's a tossup.

Some Apps I use:

ZipGrade VPP - I just got an email saying their Android App (costs the same money) doesn't support all of the iOS functions yet. Well great.

The "command centre of android productivity" ? Ok a little bit over melodramatic ;)

Google Now offers me the weather and a basic assortment of links to read. That's as much as it helps in my productivity. For you it may prove essential but for me and I doubt I'm alone it's just occasionally 'useful'. A very nice feature to have access to, but hardly 'the command centre of productivity on Android'. That's like saying 'Siri is the Mary Poppins of iOS, whereas Google Now is the Martha Stewart'. It's a good soundbite, but means little.
What is the name of the app/plugin ?

It's called Samsung chrome browser extension or such. It looks like depending on your firmware and locality it may be installed by default for some which explains why it may not be picked up by your device. It certainly wasn't installed by default here in Ireland on my sim free unbranded devices (S6 Edge / Note 5 / Edge +) anyway - but poster above says it was on his Verizon Samsung device.

I have non of these problems on my 6P... Sounds like a Samsung problem.

I'm reasonably sure OP doesn't even own an android device. He's an iPhone user.
ding ding ding....i think we have a winner! :) I don't think OP does either. Or he tried it once years ago and his opinions as based on that experience.

So my wife has exchanged her iPhone 6S Plus with me cause I was browsing on her phone more than she was using it. She is not very particular about those micro lags and all that syncing stuff...must be nice being her...care free :) Anyway...

Maybe it's just been awhile - is Safari on iOS all that great? I switched to Chrome long before I switched to Android and haven't really missed Safari.

Safari is great on iOS. It is very smooth, fast and can have ad blockers. Plus if you have a Mac, Safari syncing via iCloud. Great! I know Firefox can do the same as well but it is a kludge; both on my Mac and the Note 5. On my Mac, browsing on it eats through my battery cause Firefox causes the processor to spin up. I can see that courtesy iStat Menus. I suspect on the Note it is the same cause it is usually on the top of my battery charts. And of course, on Safari, you do have that nice looking dictionary I so long for on Android. It is a little buggy though when other apps use the Safari browser..e.g., Feedly

Two is already done on Nexus devices. It's really not that complicated. Chrome on android is great.

In my experience, it still lags and wails. And on the Note 5, it is a bigger battery killer than even Firefox. And most importantly, it does not support ad blockers.

Chrome on nexus devices is good. On Samsung devices it's Rubbish. The stock browser is a lot better.
+1. Just shows that the whole iOS story of optimised software is not junk. The optimisation to device does matter after all despite the all powerful JVM. The Samsung browser is really a good example of how optimised software can make a difference in the Android world. Pity it does not support ad blockers.

How is Chrome on android good? On my 5X it's slow to load and I can't have an ad blocker.
On the Note 5 thread, someone mentioned "nochromo" which is basically Chrome with an ad blocker. I did not get to try it on the Note 5 and my wife is happy with the Apus browser anyway. Maybe worth a shot?

So far on the iPhone 6S Plus, it has been good. What is amazing is that this thing has got really great standby time. At the end of 2 days, I still have 60% left whereas on the Note 5, I am at 70% at the end of day 1. The Note 5 was probably spending way too many CPU cycles ...either due to a bad app (though I use the same apps on iOS and Android) OR due to an Android process doing something unnecessary for the user but necessary for Google. Not sure but even the Samsung built Doze feature in the Note 5 did not help.

Other issues with iOS remain though. Primitive share capabilities is at the top. Lack of customisation is the other (so much white everywhere!). Just today, I wanted to snip a screenshot...missed my Note 5 stylus.

Fast wireless charging on Note 5 was beyond awesome! iPhone seems to charge at a snail's pace....

My chromecasts are suddenly not being used much...Yet to find decent casting apps for music and video on iOS. Android has plenty of these. And I refuse to buy Apple's overpriced Airport express!

I am constantly trying to get out of Apple's eco-system; I have given up on Windows and resigned myself to the Mac...do not want to give up on Android.

I'm going to just come in here again to repeat that the thing said before. There is nothing wrong with Google's Android. Well, barely anything. I'm on the lookout for an iPad Pro competitor. The Pixel C is the closest, but it's so much smaller and it doesn't have tablet features. Those might come with N.

I can't wait for iOS to be as functional and productive as my Android.

- Still no file management
- No Multiwindow in iPhones
- No app to app sharing
- No proper widgets
- Lack of fast charging in iPhones etc etc...

I'm running iOS9.2.1 Public Beta on my iPad, hoping it gets to AT LEAST as productive as my old Galaxy S2 was, still nowhere near that.

In fairness if you use the iPad charger it does charge at 2.1A (akin to fast charging) as opposed to the charger it ships with at 1A... Not sure why Apple don't just ship them with same charger as in the iPad given the premium we pay for iPhones in the first place.

All iPhone 6 models and newer support quick charging (capped at 2.1amps). Why Apple doesn't include this fact in its literature, I do not know? And why doesn't Apple include a 2.1amp charger with the iPhone now, I also don't know (other than the old 1amp charger saves them a penny and they are being stingy, as usual).

The main issue with Android is that in its stock form it's very bare bones as far as configurability goes. CyanogenMod fixes a large number of these issues for me. Likewise custom ROMs help with performance and battery life.

With iOS it's all much harder because jailbreaking is so difficult and usually means you are stuck with certain iOS versions for months before new jailbreak exploits are discovered, tested and released. There are so many things I would like to change in iOS but just can't. It gets a bit better with every version but way too slowly.

App quality for phones is pretty much equal on the two platforms. iOS has far better tablet apps.

Because Quick Charging is a thinly veiled band-aid for horrible battery life. My S6 Edge Plus gets 1/2 to 1/3 of my 6S Plus, both SCREEN ON TIME and Standby time.

- Doesn't need it
- No one uses multi window on a phone
- Plenty of app to app file sharing. It's called "Open In"
- I don't even use Widgets on my S6E+, except for the stock clock/weather one on the main screen.
- When I first bought an S6 Edge in the summer, I had to make sure to NOT use Fast Charging because it overheated many devices and burned out their accelerometer/gyroscope sensors.

A file system would be great to have I could down load whatever i wanted without having the app to segregate it. Like straight within my browser.
I use multi window everytime i use YouTube. It's a great example of how it can be done. But to each his own.
Widgets are awesome...they save time and effort.
I use quick charge on every device that supports it and have never had those issues you mentioned.
We all use our devices differently. You can't dismiss a feature just because you don't use it. Other may think it's great

Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book are the closest, despite their hefty price tags, having a full blown desktop os optimized for these tablets are damn nice. I run Visual Studio a million times faster than my laptop from last year.

- Knowing file placement helps with manual defragmentation.
- And yet, Google received it as one of their biggest feature requests which has been noted to be in the next android build.
- Both architectures support this.
- But you do use widgets then, don't contradict yourself.
- Fast Charging and higher mAH are always a positive as long as it doesn't degrade the battery much.

I don't know about any of you, but this whole SOT thing is stupid. As it is already pointed out, Apple doesn't give accurate numbers and if you want to figure that out, you'd have to do some old school math. Google by far gives the best accuracy. Also, on my 6P, I get a full day of normal usage between 1-7 hours of SOT. I charge overnight like most people but could sacrifice a day thanks to DOZE. Explain to me how that's a bad battery life? Because my wife has to charge her iphone 6+ every day at around 6pm cause the phone is somewhere in between 10-20%. And she uses her phone for basic usage, no gaming or social media(she has an ipad for that).

Yeah. But I want it to run Android. I have a Pro 3. Also, I have grown to dislike fans.
