One reason is that Ultra Violet codes are available for more movies and there are more people using UV than iTunes. Just supply and demand. For example, there is not a iTunes code for San Andreas, Pixels or Vacation.

Yeah Disney kind of got it right.....wish the entire industry would work like that.....buy anywhere/watch anywhere.

I've stuck to mostly iTunes purchases in the past just because I never pay full price. I always have iTunes money that was purchased at either 20-25% off.

Thanks....this helped. This is all completely new to me, but fascinating!

So basically most these people have purchased the Blu-Ray of these movies and are selling the digital copy and keeping the physical copy?

-Kevin

That's basically it. Or they are keeping the DMA portion of the code and selling the DC+, or vice versa.

Yeah this confuses me (you can see how often I buy physically copies :D). So some Disney movies have multiple codes attached? Because, as long as you have your DMA account liked to iTunes, you can redeem a DC+ code in iTunes and have it appear in DMA.

Guessing like someone said before.....the DMA might give you the points where the DC+ doesn't.

-Kevin

Another thing some places say is: Please only use the portion of the code that you paid for.

Yes. A Universal (studio) movie has UV and iTunes. If you buy iTunes portion (same code) do NOT redeem the UV. As they want to sell or give away the other portion.

Disney gives 2 redemptions. And the redeemed can essentially get them both in iTunes with DMA. If I buy a Disney bluray. I will redeem the DMA to get movie and points. Then give away the DC+ for just the Movie. **however, if you redeem DC+ and click on Amazon for redemption you are then given Aamzon credits to buy ONLY that movie. Because Amazon gives you credits to buy the film, Disney sees it as a regular Digitsl Purchade (not a DC+ code redemption) and you get the POINTS as well as movie.

DC+ redeems at www.digitalcopyplus.com.

Ahhh I see. So they can actually sell both codes if they for example decide to burn the BluRay themselves. Or like you said....if they redeem the DMA, then they can give or sell the DC+.

That's why a lot of these sites say you will be banned if you redeem more than once. Got it.

This is really cool.....will be able to get some decent movies at a good price. Wonder how long until the movie studios make this more difficult. Wan't that what they tried with the XML stuff....where you needed the disc to redeem?

-Kevin

Does anyone know if a VUDU app will be coming to the Apple TV?
I have heard absolutely nothing about one but my thinking is this: if the process of getting an app on the Apple TV is as simple as checking a box and modifying a few lines of code in an iPad app to make Apple TV compatible, I would expect nearly every service with an iPad app to be on Apple TV as well. If the process takes more than a day or two of work, I don't know. It certainly wouldn't hurt VUDU to have an Apple TV app. They wouldn't be allowed to offer purchases per Apple's rules but it would add value to their service and could drive purchases at their website.

The XML / disc redemption was before iTunes in the Cloud for movies. And I know it actually would spin the disc for a while saying there was a file transfer.

But now with smart phones and code redemptions many people are redeeming on phones with no disc drive. And it means no extra disc. I don't think movie studios will make this harder. It is more beneficial for studios to get people using digital/streaming. It is less cost. And you really don't own the movies.

This is great but wish all movies did UV & iTunes. I've noticed some movies are only UV. Now I'll have to have iTunes movies, shared computer movies and assuming a Vudu app for UV movies for my Apple TV. Nice saving money but don't like having my movies all over the place.

There are sections on that community that do iTunes only codes.

There is also an iTunes specific community as well.

So you don't have to have multiple libraries.

I bought some movies from:
http://www.ultravideoz.com/ (Instant email)
http://www.thefastflicks.com/ (instant email)

http://nannerberry.com/ (Still waiting for email, purchased 2 hours ago)
*edit received email 4 hours later
http://uvcodes2.tictail.com/ (Still waiting for email, purchased 2 hours ago)
* edit received email 10 hours later
http://phoenixmovies.tictail.com/ (Got email within 2 hours of purchase)

Found all sites from comparing prices on http://ultravioletcinema.com/getuv.php?q=ITUNES.

I have bought 6 titles from www.thefastflicks.com. So far, have gotten great service and quick replies when I had questions. Pays via Paypal, for a sense of security.

That is correct but UV has more movies due to some not offering iTunes version of movie and only UV. So if I want a movie not offered in iTunes community I have to keep other UV movies on app like Vudu.

Then do what I do and buy those movies from iTunes. I could have picked up a Mad Max Fury Road for free or for a couple bucks as UV. But I much prefer iTunes. And bought it for $10 off iTunes.

I have about 6-12 UV movies
And about 180 or so iTunes movies.

Yea... I watch all my movies using Apple TV, Macbook, or iPad, so I would rather just keep all my movies in iTunes. Im up to somewhere around 375 right now.

Yeah I can do that. Just wish didn't have to but still money ahead. I looked through my movie selection at home and grabbed The Mummy code I never used. It gave me a iTunes & UV copy. Why can't all movies just do that gerr I know first world problems.

Well some studios are in full force to back UV. They helped create UV to have control and not let Apple control things.

Those studios are solely UV.

Other studios don't really care and offer the best for the customer

The sooner we get things like Vudu and Amazon on the new Apple TV, the better things will be. And if they can integrate with the universal search.....it won't matter where your movies are, the ATV will find them.

Sadly, iTunes will never be available on other things like Roku.

This might be a dumb question but I'm trying to redeem a code that I purchased through iTunes on my iPhone and it says 'This feature is temporarily unavailable. Try again later'.

Does that mean it is a bunk code or is the whole service down? Because I tried putting in a fake code (switched the last letter with a number) just to see if a different message comes up, and it gives me the same message.

I believe the whole service is down. Lots of people on the message boards having the same issue.

Right now that service on iTunes is down. Other people on other forums are having the same issue.
