Thanks for the kind words, glad you appreciate it!

jessica:
they are indeed IKEA stools! they were too high when I bought them so I cut them down with an angle grinder! I'm not sure about the green paint under the bench (where the stools are), I'm considering paneling it in with tassy oak (like the kitchen cupboards)

eji:
thanks for the remote control tip! at this stage I dont really have a need... but I'm going to check it out anyway, it might surprise me!

Tracey:
I'm sure having a MAC on your kitchen wall will encourage your husband to use/read the calendar! hehehe

iKwick7:
the track lighting is from IKEA, as are the stools! they look brilliant at night, even nicer now with the iMac in place

scan:
can I watch TV on it? As a matter of fact, yes! I have an EyeTV DTT box, I just need to plug it in, maybe use some double sided tape to stick it to the back of the iMac, and then watch watch watch! I just realised this DTT box came with a cool IR remote control! I think you just improved my iKitchen setup!!

Might go grab the stuff now and give a whirl.. back shortly :)

I just got denied! badly!

Maybe there's another tv app that works with 10.3.x and the Cinergy terratec DTT tuner...

I'm holding off upgrading the OS on this machine because we have three mac's in the house, and I'd rather just put leopard on them all when it's released.

if any1 knows of a TV tuner app that works in 10.3, or has an old version of EyeTV, let me know! I'm on the hunt!

Okay, it looks like I need EyeTV version 1.8.x

can someone help me out? I've got a valid EyeTV 2.x licence code, but the CD installer just wont work/run on 10.3.x :(

boo. googling my head off to try find a download of this older version..

James

*update, I got it working! I installed the latest EyeTV, then found the 1.8.5 "update", and just installed it over the top (downgrade?) it worked, I have TV! pics coming

Some pics, with EyeTV 1.8.5 working on it. doing a tune now, I dont get good reception with the included antenna (its crap)... so trying it now with it attached up high... I dont think this idea will work well, reception is aweful.

picking up only about 6 chan's, three of which are radio. bummer! maybe I can get a 'good' looking antenna for it! works fine with a long cable plugged into my roof antenna though!

If you're looking for a fantastic remote control, try the ATI Remote Wonder II. You can pick it up for about $30 US, sometimes less, and you can customize the buttons to control any application: VLC, iTunes, Quicktime, Safari... you name it. It works with radio, not IR, so you don't actually have to point the remote at the unit to get it to work.

I bought it for my pre-Front Row iMac G5 and it's brilliant. The Mac support on it is just great -- I really can't praise it highly enough.
Does this really work with OSX? On the link you gave they only list Windows systems as being supported...

please read the whole thread. It's a 2 year old machine.

But I thought I read that you bought it at the Apple Store.

Sorry for not reading the whole thing, its alot to read and I just really wanted to see all the pictures.

I wonder how many 20" iMac hits eBay just got from reading this thread...haha

Great idea, I was considering an iMac G4 for the kitchen here myself, thought it would look kinda neat in the corner of the breakfast nook.

I'll also add that you do have a really nice kitchen, I absolutely love the lights above the bench/table/thingy there. Gorgeous.

bigprince:
It's clearance/firesale stock, stuff that never got sold. But is still from an Apple Store, and still has 2yrs apple care on it :)

the don ditty:
Atari rox. The sig is more a piss take than anything :)

SuperCompu2:
I tried to bid on ebay for a unit, and was doing well. I'm usually really good getting in as the winner, but i got owned, and the auction went $9 over what I wanted to pay $1450'ish AUS.

A score I got this machine for $999 AUS hahaha, was a better model than the 17" i was bidding on too!

BTW, My wife is loving the feedback about the kitchen! hehe

Still don't quite get it. I was under the impression that all refurbs came with the latest OS.

That's the most important part! I guess that would make your project ok then (that's if she didn't like it in the first place). Gotta keep the wife happy!

On that note what's for lunch? (It's afternoon there isn't it?)

Great kitchen, great project, not much more to say! You did a really really nice job and that 20" looks gorgeous mounted on the wall like that. Good luck hiding the power cord more, once that is done it will be perfect :)

bigprince:
it's from a reseller, it was never sold, it's not a 'refurbished model'..

don ditty:
lunch... doing it right now, it's 12:40pm here in Perth... making baked bean and cheese jaffles (toasted sam's)

maxwell smart:
thanks!
hope to work on this power cable this weekend If i can find the time! indeed it will complete it!

That's unbelievable, I can't believe you picked up a 20" iMac with 512MB, Applecare, wireless keyboard and mouse, all brand new for only $600 US! That's an incredible price. I was under the impression that it was a refurbished machine. Nice find!

Really, this setup is amazing!

I am so jealous

I read the whole thread, but I don't remember if you mentioned it. How much was the wall-mount?
