I had the Sports watch but I didn't like it much because it felt too light. I'm glad I got the SS. It was a great investment. It'll last longer, you can get any band to use it with unlike the sport because all the adapters are SS. I say go for SS. She will love it and it's the perfect watch for a woman IMO.

Thanks Jmona. I appreciate your response. That's definitely my gripe with the Apple Watch Sport, all of my bands (other than the sport band) have SS adapters. I doubt the average person really notices, but it slightly annoys me.

Hey everyone, I wanted to get a woman's perspective on the aluminum watch vs. the stainless steel model. Does anyone with the aluminum watch think that its not "dressy" enough? I want to get one for my wife for our anniversary and want it to be as versatile as possible so she wears it a lot. Thanks.

I went with the sport model in space grey because it didn't look like every other watch in stainless steel. I find stainless tends to look masculine.

I got the SS and I love it. I tried on the sport WSB and I liked the brushed aluminum look, and I honestly think either one looks great, and I had a hard time making up my mind. But I decided I wanted the sapphire glass and realized I would be happier in the long run with the SS. I'm really glad I went with the SS now because it can dress up or down and it looks professional at work too.

I have the stainless steel Space Black with the Space Black link bracelet, and it's gorgeous! Elegant enough to wear anywhere, yet also works fine with shorts and a tee. I love it so much that I haven't yet bothered to buy any other bands! I also like the weight and heft of the stainless steel -- it looks like and feels like quality. The black works comfortably with any other jewelry -- silver, platinum, gold, jade, whatever -- and so is very versatile in that regard.

I'm admitting defeat. I got the white sports watch, mainly because I wanted to have it on launch day. I originally wanted the SS with modern buckle but the site kept on crashing on me so I went with the sports so I could get it on launch day. I don't have any problems with the sports. It looks nice enough although I admit that the SS looks better. However I've gone and bought the Milanese loop, classic and modern buckles so in that sense it doesn't make sense for me to keep the sport now that I've spent so much on bands which would look better with the SS. The deal breaker has been the modern buckle. I've wanted the band since the watch was first shown off in September last year and I finally got my hands on one. However it just doesn't look right with my sports watch:(

The Milanese and classic buckle I could fudge it but the modern buckle doesn't look right. I'm just going to have to get the SS. I'm very OCD so I didn't know how I'm going to deal with the hairline scratches. I've had SS jewellery in the past and I didn't like the scratches and didn't have much luck in getting them out myself with the polish. I suppose I could just take it to a Jewlery store and ask them to buff them out. I've decided that I may as well keep my sports watch as the re sale value isn't that great. I can wear the sports if I think there is a risk of it getting bashed about or if I go by the pool or I'm on the beach.

I appreciate the responses from both of you. I decided just to take her to the store and have her pick it out. That way I know she has the one she wants!

Where did you get that from? The casing wraps around the back (covering the sensor part) so that doesn't appear to be an issue ...

It's like leaving the Watch off your wrist, no activity tracking, and if you didn't want to put your PIN in, you'd have to turn the passcode option off.

Also I'm going to go check out this French Bull band, that I almost got the same design for the Fitbit, at bestbuy today! I kinda like the multi color design so I'll let you know!

I just bought this band today. I like it a lot. It is a bit thick but it seems well made and is very comfortable. I love the colors.

I looked at it in the store but for some reason I really don't like that adapter style...I know I'm in the minority but that's just how I felt! I love the pattern and colors I just wish they had tried to mimic the sport band look!!!

Thank you for that. I did ask the question to the creator and yes, you do have to have the pin option disabled to not have to put it in every time. I'm in IT and my current company supports Apple. I am contemplating a change in company where Apple products are not. I think this could be a good compromise if I am not "allowed" to use my watch at work. Something to think about though as I actively use the tracking and fitness aspects of the watch every day.

Ha ha, you're the (potential) backer. You would be asking the Creator. ;)

If you can't wear the Apple Watch on your wrist, I'm not sure how much fitness tracking you'd get having it around your neck or in your pocket.

Yes of course. I meant creator ... It was early and we have three small kids! .

I do my training in the morning before work so would have that tracked but during the day would be a bust. I did back the project but I don't think they will reach the 25K they are seeking. It's only 100$ so not an earth shaking "investment". We'll see how it ends up. :)

Alright Ladies.
So. I got the ThankCase Charging Station today. It's normally $99 but I got it on sale at Amazon for a good deal on the link below. However after spending some time putting it together, I realize I wouldn't have bought this even for $20 because it was too much of a hassle to put together.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00TGXQHT0?vs=1

Pros:
It's stylish and you have the ability to charge one iPhone through the charging dock simultaneously with the Watch. You can also on front of the iPhone align another iPhone or an iPad or charge an iPad instead of an iPhone through the lighting cable's dock end.

Cons:
Extremely difficult to put together.
They include 6 normal size screws and 2 small ones for the bottom of the stand, 2 handles that stick up to receive the watch cable coming down from the dock itself and although placed rightfully on the rest of the bottom dock, it's extremely difficult to keep the cable aligned in and out of the back of the station.
It took me an hour to put together.
At first I thought it would be easy to set up but sadly the instructions are barely legible so it was a guessing game for me. Screwing the black part of the docks down was the hardest of it all and what took longer the most.

Overall it is a nice dock but it is complicated to say the least and although you seem to get a good charging station for the price, a dock set up should never have to be this complicated.
I bought it so you didn't have to, and now if you buy it'll be at your own discretion.
Also you can charge your iPhone with a case but not the watch which makes it easier to scratch.
Took several photos and well, about 25 of them so here they go.

Sorry for the crazy amount of photos but I wanted to post detailed photos of the dock. I hope they're appreciated.
I used my son's iPhone for the demo and I took all photos with my 6+.

I'd be concerned about the watch being damaged if it were swinging around at the end of a chain in the pendant style. I like the look, it's really cool, but I wouldn't want to take chances with my expensive watch. Also, yes, the usability of it would definitely be affected if one can't keep the passcode in effect and therefore wouldn't get notifications, the tapping reminders for standing up, etc., etc.

I don't feel that the watch is expensive so that really isn't my concern. I'm more interested in the usability issue. The scenario I outlined (job change where Apple products aren't "allowed") where this might be a plausible work around :).

I've backed the project so we'll see how it ends up!
