Everyone likes these colored leather cases until they realize that they don't patina well. If it's not brown or black, chances are that patina isn't going to look the greatest.
Not true at all. My Bullstrap Oceans always look amazing. I’ve used red leather in the past that looked amazing. Of course, it’s all up to the individual so probably best not to generalize.Everyone likes these colored leather cases until they realize that they don't patina well. Can’t even notice patina on black 🤦🏻♂️Everyone likes these colored leather cases until they realize that they don't patina well. If it's not brown or black, chances are that patina isn't going to look the greatest.
Is this serious? There are plenty of pictures in this tread of cases that patina. Andar, Keyway, Ryan London, bullstrap, bare….the list goes on. And they even patina on the sides 🤯Nomad horween brown is the only leather case I have seen that get's real patina, most are just grime from hands.
Mrs has the 12 max folio it's the real thing.

Patina is patina... it consists of oils, dirt, scratches and scuffs.Nomad horween brown is the only leather case I have seen that get's real patina, most are just grime from hands.

Nice. Will Crep Protect slow the patina process? I love how slate looks fresh out the box. I understand patina, but if there’s a way to slow it down on a BS case I’d try it. I’m interested in seeing your patina progress in time.![]()
My Bullstrap slate has arrived
Ordered Friday from the USA and it’s arrived via DHL Monday 10am in the UK! Now that’s service!
Applied what I always use on leather cases; Crep Protect which is actually for leather shoes and trainers but I’ve found it works well at protecting leather phone cases as well.
It has slowed it on previous cases, and when it does start to appear you can either re-apply or it seems to be a lot more of an even patina (rather than dark edges first). Plus it adds some protection from water and other fluids.Nice. Will Crep Protect slow the patina process? I love how slate looks fresh out the box. That's one of the nicer Dune patinas I've seen.Patina is patina... it consists of oils, dirt, scratches and scuffs.
The Nomad doesn't show the "grime" because it's already a dark shade (rustic), if you look at the tan version that looks the same as any other leather case - the only difference is it's a thin piece of leather slapped on the back. A nice case, but not a proper leather case IMO due to the sides.
That’s because it’s one of Bullstraps marketing photos. My 4 month old Dune doesn’t look anything close to that, kinda disappointing. That's one of the nicer Dune patinas I've seen.
Bandwerk is the only alternative that comes to mind for me. Haven't held one so can't comment on it but its at the other end of the price / protection spectrum from Lonli. Can anyone recommend a good Nappa leather case?
I love the feel of Nappa, so I ordered the Lonli nappa. It came today and I'm really disappointed, the fit is poor (the lip around the top right of the phone is noticeably lower than everywhere else), the buttons aren't great (the lock buttons aren't as tactile as the others, and the volume and action buttons are wonky) and the cutouts at the bottom are a little sharp.
Is there anything else I could try? Doesn't even have to be real leather, happy with one of these 'vegan' leathers if it feels like Nappa.
I've got the Andar Aspen, and as much as it's a good case I just want a nappa/similar feel.
Oh, damn. That would make sense as to why it looks so good. I thought that was a personal pic lol. That’s because it’s one of Bullstraps marketing photos. My 4 month old Dune doesn’t look anything close to that, kinda disappointing.
Check out the nappa leather case from YMW on Ali Express. I am very happy with the fit and feel. I have tried the Lonli Edition and the Mujjo. I like this one the best. Can anyone recommend a good Nappa leather case?

How was the leather from the one you had last year? I am considering ordering the black or coffee color from AliExpress.I just got a black YMW crazy horse case, really looking forward to it, had the one last year as well.
