Got a black Ryan london otw but in the meantime heres my Turquoise aspen coming up on 1 month. No more creaking in the case and the buttons really loosened up. Also getting a bit darker around the edges.

I know this is a leather first thread, but in case any of you are searching for alternatives: I ordered the Bullstrap FRWD case for my iPhone 15 Pro Max in SOLSTICE

Pros:
+ TPU material doesn't attract dust at all (in comparison to Apple Silicone Case)
+ Clicky buttons (except Action button)
+ Seems like it is really sturdy and has good drop protection
+ totally irrelevant: cool packaging
+ good MagSafe strength
+ raised edges at the front

Cons:
- adds significant bulk to your phone. Raised edges at the back make the phone feel sharper in your hands
- Action button is really mushy and has different material than the other buttons
- Back is a bit glossy and attracts fingerprints/smudges quite easily
- lanyard attachment spot could let dust enter the case..

Overall, I'd wait for Gen2 of this.

I feel like the closed bottom leather case could already be out if they didn’t waste time making this. I can’t understand the reasoning for it. You do leather, stick to leather. Plenty of tpu cases on Amazon.

I’d wager these were offered to them from supplier for peanuts, as they certainly can’t cost much to make…
By the time they release a closed bottom case option no one will be in the market for one as they’ll already have a case (or several).

I have a Camel Tan waiting for me in the mailbox. I think I’ll try the leather cream on that one & see how that is, if it helps with grip.

You only need a very small amount, otherwise it will get sticky especially when new as it’s got a wax coating already applied.

Basically all the leather cases that lack grip simply need to be used more, much more. Once that protective layer gets worn down it will reveal the actual leather and like a leather jacket will offer plenty of grip but also be smooth and comfortable.

UK members. I’ve got a week old Turquoise Aspen for a 15 pro I want to sell on. If interested, message me.

Loving all the patina photos of the turquoise andar. Just got mine and applied their leather balm so i’ll be looking forward to the next month with it.

6 days with my bs slate also. Not huge on the feel of the leather. It feels like the maverick to me in the sense that the texture doesn’t feel as nice as the sienna or ocean cases by them.

I cannot believe how quick that slate changes.

Owners of that case, you’ve gotta be disappointed with that surely?! After a week or two these are looking a year old?!

I wouldn’t buy a Slate based on the patina pictures I see here. It looks like some old cloth to be honest. Like a dirty Apple Polishing Cloth. This is the kind of patina we wouldn’t tolerate on a FineWoven.

In my opinion there are nicer colors / cases available.

Will show a picture of my YMW after roughly a week of use. It’s a deep purple, I also have a blue one on the way. Funny how I always start with clear cases, but end up with YMW.

Nail on head there to be fair, it does look like a dirty rag.

But it doesn’t get spoken about or berated enough because it’s Bullstrap. I’d be returning if I had one of those. I’m all for a patina process but the original colour should last weeks, not days

I’m not too thrilled on it. I like the color of it and how it looks and all but it I mean for a week it’s aged a little quicker than I had hoped.

I’d be curious how BS would respond to a return request based on color/wear. They put that little gotcha tag on their cases now so should be interesting.

I’ve tried the Aspen, RL open bottom, and RL closed bottom and I gotta give it to the Aspen. I’d rank it first, then RL closed bottom, then RL open bottom. The fit is the best of all 3. RL feels like they have slightly better leather on theirs. MagSafe strength feels pretty even across them all. Grip is pretty equal but I often use the MagSafe pop socket so probably not super relevant. Buttons are great on both Aspen and RL closed but pretty bad on the open bottom IMO.

Came down to the fit for me (and the turquoise looks cool lol)

I’m actually getting a black bullstrap case sent out to me after my slate just felt horrible in hand and the colour wasn’t looking great… I contacted their customer service, was polite but pointed out the issues and said I don’t want another grey case as it felt almost like suede after a week! I want a leather case to feel like leather, I do suspect the process to make the colour has something to do with it as I don’t remember my bourbon case ever feeling like that the last time I bought one years back.

Currently using my open bottom RL and it feels really good now it’s worn down a bit, very soft and you can tell it’s very high quality leather.

Gonna try support also and see if I can get a different color sent out to me. You nailed it on how it feels; I was trying to figure out the word for it and it feeling like suede is a pretty good description for it.

Yeah, mine didn’t start off like that it felt nice but as it wore down it got really dry feeling and suede like… cannot be right?! But the fact that they didn’t even argue with me wanting to change colours suggests they’re aware of the issues.
