It’s been a downhill ride for the Keyway since its fall into the puddle of melted snow and salt about ten days ago. The leather did dry out but now feels quite awful. It’s rough and taken on a dull greyish tone that I hate. I can’t stand the water stain around the logo and tonight the little bit that goes around the charging port broke. So the Keyway is being retired after 3.5 short months. Back to the silicone case for now until I decide what’s next.

I love leather but have come to realize how little protection it actually provides. I haven’t dropped a phone in a few years and got really lucky that there was no damage in this fall. The last time I had a phone in leather fall the phone was a total loss. So as much as I don’t like the idea maybe it’s time for a Nomad. Phones are getting more expensive as is everything these days so maybe it’s time to prioritize protection over fashion.

Also leather just sucks because if you drop it, it's almost guaranteed to get knicked in a gnarly way. They don't provide you multiple drops unless you're okay with peels on the leather etc. some are, but they bother me personally.

Man that sucks, you had a nice patina going on it too. I would try the Ryan London closed bottom since it’s basically the same case without the X and just use a leather conditioner to waterproof it some.
Yeah I’m still kinda ticked about it too. I could get another Keyway for like half price between their repeat buyer club and my Keyway points. But I think I want a little more protection. I got so lucky with the fall that the phone didn’t get damaged. Got me a bit nervous now.

Yeah my replacement back one is 100% a different feel to the slate case was, it's almost like two completey different products!
How did u get a replacement for a black case? My slate turned to **** and they didn’t let me replace. The suede feeling is putting me off. Such bad customer service claiming life time warranty.

Moss is such an underrated color for the Andar Aspen. This is roughly a 3 month patina after daily usage.

I sent them photos of the power button that had come away, so it wasn’t just the feel of the case not that I would at all urge you to make your power button come out…

This has been answered soooo many times in here.

Yes it will. Use it and it'll grippen up.

I've been using my Moss one for 10 days now and it's a lot more grippy than it was out of the box. No creams etc applied.
Now you can add another o.

Thanks for your help.

Not a phone case, but thought some might be interested...

My black Andar Apollo wallet arrived today - really nice quality and very compact and slim. Can recommend.

For me I complained about fast it aged and how it feels like a suede saying it looks great but doesn’t feel great; referencing my 10+ cases from them over the last few years since the release of my 12pm.

Etsy has some really cool leather wallets. I just commissioned this one. The one I got has an AirTag and extra pocket on the back. I got black too. I get it in next week

I’m not sure I’d attribute it to luck as much as you are. I have used strictly leather cases for quite a few years now and have taken some nasty drops. Not once have I had a damaged phone. Sure, the leather gets damaged but that’s a part of their charm. Leather heals.
Nomad cases have come a long way in the last few years. They’re much more comfortable in the hand than they used to be and the buttons are truly fantastic. I used one for about 6 months on my 14 Pro last year and I’ve been using an English Tan one on my 15 Pro Max since day 1 this year and I love it. Sure it’s slightly bulkier, but the protection is unparalleled
Agreed. I used one on my 13 Pro after seeing a friend’s work iPhone 7 in their rustic brown case. They’re really nice. Not to mention they have some of the best buttons in the business. 👍🏻

As mentioned above, that’s the whole allure for leather enthusiasts. It gets nicks and scars that add to its character, just like we do.

Andar Aspen turquoise update
Mine is looking similar, loving it so far. This is actually one of the first cases I’ve owned where I don’t care too much if it get knicked or wet. And I’ll say it’s showing the character rather well so far I think. On hard days like i’ve had recently working on my
car I’ll wipe it down with a damp microfiber and then use their leather balm on it.

Ok I just ordered one. Never had a Nomad before so I hope it doesn’t disappoint.
I don’t think you’ll be disappointed, on a side note every once in a while Verizon has sales for certain iPhone cases. I picked up my Nomad case from there for the 15 for only $40 total.

Thanks. I’m in Canada so it’s pretty rare to be around a Verizon store for me. But appreciate the tip.
