I posted side by side comparisons of my G2 and 5s showing same time off the charger. Well actually, my 5s had been off the charger 5 hours longer and still performed better than the G2. Looking at your shots, you are showing 11% usage over the past 3 hours, you are hardly using it. Of course it's going to last. Get that usage up to at least 20% and let's see how the battery does.

lol...i was hardly using it when I took the screen shots.......The battery on the G2 last longer than the IP5s in realtime usage side by side. My teenage son and I was both using our phones over the weekend while in the mountains fishing. The G2 lasted almost 24 hours more than the IP5s...again realtime side by side....
If you don't like the G2 return it.....stick with Apple if that is your preference. You don't have to put the G2 down to validate your choice.......

From reading on various forums the consensus seems to be a properly working G2 has tremendous battery life. If I don't end up with one it won't be because of battery life concerns.

You still have it? I returned mine and went back to my 5s days ago. Why would you want a phone you have to turn off main features, keep the screen dark and dim, baby and constantly monitor just to keep a full days battery?

I've had it for a month. I don't turn off any main features and my screen isn't dark and dim so I don't know what the heck you are talking about. I have auto brightness set so you set it for the brightness you like for that light level and then it adjusts if it is darker or lighter and it's almost always right where I like it, not dark and dim like you say. Only time it is dim is when you are in a dark room it does that because who the hell what's a bright ass screen in their face then. I've already told you a dozen times I have 40% or more left every night when I plug it in so I am not having any issues.

usage is how much the battery percentage has dropped in the past 3 hours, not how much you actually used it.

you also need to stop saying I had a problem with my phone because I don't. Go back to your iphone and leave these thread alone.

regarding battery life:

i have my display at 100% brightness all day, have 4g on all day and dont use any type of battery saving app or anything like that. at home i have crappy phone signal so it is always hunting for signal, but I still always finish the day with around 35% battery left.

Shoot, I work, so I get TONS of battery life :D

Anyway, found turning off LG MLT (LGs snooping app methinks) frees up ~150MB of RAM.

This phone with a debloated ROM, and Xposed framework is quite a bit better, it's the first phone that I abhorred the stock UI. To be fair, with a few tweaks the stock UI is much better, and quite a few of the Carrier apps can be disabled.

I read that MLT isn't a snooping app, it's LG's memory manager. Or MLT also stands for mirror link technology and in the hidden menu I saw a MirrorLink Test option, so could also be that.

I haven't touched that and my phone seems fine. I've been running google now again for the past 2 days and it isn't killing my battery. all is good.

side note I tried different launchers (apex and nova) didn't like them as many widgets I used didn't work with them.

The biggest culprit in battery life seems to be Carrier IQ, which is very easily disabled on a rooted device.

I think the main issue, which I've run into, is group messaging on android is kind of garbage. I don't know if it's changed on 4.3, but before that it seems to never work, at least it never does for me. I've tried most of the aftermarket messages systems and they are much better, but still kind of crappy.

Also imessage is nice in that it can go to any of your devices, ipad, computer, etc. so you can pickup a conversation wherever you go.

There are probably solutions, but forcing all your friends and family to switch to a specific app isn't a solution IMO. Google needs something that is stock and baked into the OS just like Apple. There also should be some kind of universal standard so different OS can communicate with each other.

I definitely miss imessage, it was very elegant and easy to use with no setup or tweaking required.

Don't know if you know about it, but have you tried Textra? It's probably the best SMS replacement app on Android. Also supports receiving AND sending emojis (over 800 emojis baked into the app) to iPhones. Not to mention that it also supports group messaging. I highly recommend you try it out, you'll love it.

How does the G2 work with macs? Samsung phones suck with macs but my Moto X worked perfectly with Android File Transfer and Helium.

Yes, I am currently using Textra, it's VERY nice. I haven't had any group messages in a while so I'm not sure if it's working, but otherwise I'm happy with it. What I like is that it integrates and takes over your text messaging so I don't have to mess with the stock app at all.

I had both the S4 and the G2 for a while. I chose the S4....for 2 reasons....
1) the volume/home buttons on the back......just could not get used to it and kept hitting the volume button or the camera instead of the home button.
2) The overall sound volume was low for me. I tried a factory reset and turning it up to maximum. But the sound volume on the S4 is much better.

But it was extremely close. The G2 is an awesome phone!!! I am excited that LG is making the next Nexus phone!

I like my G2 over the S4, but I won't say "love". The rear placed keys can be annoying, but at other times they function well. The G2 feels much more solid than the S4 to me, just less flex and give, and I'm kind of into how a phone feels in the hand. I also feel the screen on the G2 is much nicer than the S4, and more readable in daylight.

Plus I paid peanuts for my G2 off CL so I can't complain.

When I had my S4 it worked perfectly with my Mac using Android File Transfer, maybe yours was just buggy? Nevertheless, I'd assume the G2 would work just fine with a Mac.

That's the beauty of Android; you can set your default apps.

As much as I love my iPhone 5S, I'm REALLY tempted to sell it and buy a G2. iOS 7 is amazing, but I also love Android. If it weren't for my Galaxy S4's constant lagging, crappy Touchwiz UI, and generally poor battery life, I would've have kept the device. After selling my S4 and upgrading to a 5S I was excited to he back on iOS, but now that I'm back I'm really missing the big screen of the S4 and the better camera (in my opinion). Yet, iOS apps are just so much better than those on Android. Even just the fact that nearly all iOS apps incorporate in-app browsers (Twitter, Facebook, etc.), make using the device so much better when compared to Android apps that do not usually include in-app browsers. That isn't even including overall smoothness of iOS apps compared to Android apps (scrolling through Twitter and Facebook on iOS is buttery smooth; on Android it's pretty laggy and you can see that it drops frames and sometimes freezes up).

Then again, battery life is still an issue for me. The 5S gets better battery life than my 5 did and sometimes even than my S4, but in the end, I still can't make it from 7am-5pm without having to plug it in once or twice. I'm a pretty heavy user, but on my S4 after flashing ROM after ROM, I finally was able to find one that gave me the best battery life and my best screen-on time was 4 hours or so. A lot of people on XDA are raving about the G2's battery and how they're easily getting 6.5-7 hours of screen-on time. That is INSANE. I would kill for battery life like that; and that, combined with the G2's beautiful display, is what's causing me to really consider getting one. Not to mention the fact that I'm seeing G2's on CL and eBay going for ~$400.

Can those who are using the G2 as their daily phone please post their screen on times? Most of you are only posting stand and usage times, but screen-on time is the best way to measure battery life IMO.

I agree......the G2 feels nicer in the hand than my S4 does. Plus the battery life on the G2 is outstanding! :)

I think I'll get the G2 when I upgrade next month, the Nexus might grab my attention but if the smaller battery is true then it's game over.
Hopefully the Dev attention for the G2 picks up soon as well.

I saw that the other day, but I don't think it was battery issues. I ordered THREE extra batteries for the S4 and all of them performed worse than the OEM battery. Also, it seemed that it was more software based. Some custom ROM's only allowed me to get 2 hours of screen-on time, while other ROM's allowed me to get 3 hours, with the best ROM allowing me to get 4 hours of screen-on time. This is all with the same usage, so I'm chalking it up to software bloat and useless crap running in the background that caused the battery to drain so quickly.

will there be a google edition of this phone?

Doubt it.

I haven't followed battery time that closely, but it's pretty amazing. I know I drive almost 2 hours to get to work, I've got Waze GPS program running with the screen at 80% constantly. I answer maybe 3 or 4 phone calls each is maybe 10 minutes or so. By the time I get to work my battery is about 80-85%, that's pretty sick IMO. Both the screen and the gps program are pretty battery intensive.

After getting to work I use the phone several times, sometimes I'll look up a med, or look up something on google. Several phone calls, etc. Then I drive home again with the screen at 80% and Waze gps running yet again. I'll play a bit in bed, maybe a game or 2 or tinker with Android. By the time I plug the phone in it's probably still got 30% or more left.

If you don't mind, could you take a screenshot of your screen-on time at the end of the day when you're about to go to bed? That kind of usage/battery life sounds amazing, by the way. No way my 5S could do all of that and even make it halfway through the day.

Was waiting for the Nexus 5, but after plenty of though, decided to go for two of these (One for me, one for the missus). Good deal in the UK where they come with the LG Photo Printer for free!

I'm going to stop by Best Buy tonight and see if they have a live demo model. I may use an early upgrade on one of these bad boys.
