Android 4.3.1 ROMs are now popping up for the G2

Oh? I haven't seen that, any links? I'll have to see if there is any chatter on XDA forums.

Just last night I installed CleanROM XE which takes away all the bloatware, takes away CIQ, and does a lot of streamlining and other cool stuff. With a custom ROM it's so smooth.

It's out on D802 already, not sure about the American variants.

Nice, I'll check it out. I'm on an AT&T version, but my current ROM is a D802 based variant.

edit: I see there is a Verizon G2 nightly also.

there is a att version that people are using, its not certified or anything but it's out there now on xda.

Hmm, is it in the G2 forums? I'm not seeing, can you put up a link.

edit: Never mind, I see it in G2 android development. Good stuff, now to decide between CM or CleanROM, sigh.

Cant speak for the Lumia 1020, however the LG G2 came joint first place with the Galaxy S4 in relation to its camera.

iPhone 5S only came in 3rd place.

Overall the iPhone 5s was on par with the LG G2. (Check the conclusion page to see).

Judging from that review, both seem to be the "best of the rest" that isn't a Lumia 808 or 1020. My brother has an LG G2 while I have the 5S and I'd say this is about right.

Swings and roundabouts. Heres another comparison in which the LG G2 beats the 5S in certain camera categories, but not in others.

It is however, a very good camera and can only see it getting better as its fine tuned via updates.

Cyanogenmod runs very nicely on the G2. I'm having some issues with the GPS being on all the time, and I don't think that CIQ is in cyanogenmod, but I'm still investigating. CM may be a little too hardcore for me though and I'll likely return to CleanROM XE, but I will give CM a couple of days.

I so badly want to like the G2 but there's just so many things that seem to be little problems that I just can't do it. The S4 is the best Android out for my money right now. Best all around package - hoping the Nexus 5 will wow me, but rumors of a 2300 mAh battery worry me.

May be worth it to revisit cm later once they get it ironed out a bit too. You're on the bleeding edge right now. :)

Lol, yeah. CM is really quite solid, it's got some weirdness here and there but I'm impressed with how solid it is. I love the options, lots of them in there.

I'd love to try AOKP, but I have no idea if the G2 is even on their radar at all.

IMO the S4 is one of the worst devices that you could buy right now. Poor battery life, laggy UI, the worst dialer/contacts experience, overall just really slow, etc. Most of those issues are caused by Touchwiz, and I'm aware that there are custom ROM's to put stock Android on it but those drastically reduce one of the S4's best features: the camera. The G2 seems much, much better.

What are the reasons you think it is the best device out there for your money? Honest question, not trolling or anything.

I like the S4's camera and all of the different options it provides. Takes amazing pictures. Love the 5" screen with it's bright colors even it a bit over saturated. Love the ability to expand the memory and changeout batteries if I so choose to do that. The speaker is good, not as great as the HTC One but has good sound that doesn't sound hollow and tinny sounding as the G2. Although Samsung adds a lot of bloatware to their phones, they do have some great software that I like- I like using S Health.

As far as lag, I use Apex launcher with a few different themes and the lag is instantly gone when I use Apex and various themes. These have no effect on the camera so I choose to use those instead of ROMs.

Sure the G2 has great specs but I need more than specs. I don't like the button placement for one. The camera is hit or miss and has provided a very lackluster experience from what I've seen. That is a huge part of it for me...

Want to get this phone but it only comes in 16gb in the UK

16gb is way to small isn't especially since I will have this phone for 2 years

I had the same concerns, but so far its best phone ive ever had!

As im with 3 and have "All You Can Eat Data", I decided to take full advantage of Google Play Music, Dropbox and embrace the cloud!

Im also going to get one of these - will work out around £12 delivered, but will clip on my keys which I always have with me anyway.

People with the G2, how does it play with IOS devices, OSX devices and icloud?
Is it a big disruption to the "eco-system"?

Cheers!

Oh I was thinking of leaving EE and moving to three....You recommend them yeah?
Hmm yeah the SD card seems a good solution but would hate to have it hanging from my phone all the time lol....
16gb is way to small for todays phones, especially when you consider apps, photos etc....and this will be on a 2 year contract.....

Only alternative is for me to get the htc one which is 32gb or get the nexus 5 or iPhone 5
