I don't consider those to be flaws either.

LG has done an outstanding job with the UI on the G2. It is very fast and seamless with no lag at all. The battery life is very impressive!
It has been off the charger for 33 hours and still has 55% battery life left!
I am impressed! :)

That is very impressive. How do you use your phone on a typical day?

Normal use for me. 30 emails and 50 texts about 3 hours of screen time. Maybe 20 minutes of voice calls.
Facebook and i play chess......

Samsung's response is sure to be strong with the S5.

Seems like the LG G2 has swept in last minute and might be able to snatch android smartphone of the year from the Galaxy S4.

It is worthy ......but LG doesn't have the advertising budget that Samsung has. I have not seen one advertisement for the G2.

What exactly do you do on your phone? Those numbers are insane!?!
It is normal use for me. Look at the screen time it is 25% of 44 hours.....So I am on the phone alot playing with it and getting to know it since it is new to me. The only game i play is chess. So most of my time is spent on emails and texts and Facebook! :) I also workout 6 days a week so I listen to music for 2 hours a day while at the gym. I also have an S4.....and it would not making it more than 18 hours for me. So the battery on the G2 is making me like the S4 less and less. The UI on this beast is FAST. If you have a chance go to your carriers store and check it out. This is my first LG phone. To say the least I am impressed!

I wonder how it does on call time? This has me leaning towards a LG G2, vs a Nexus 5 with a supposed smaller battery.

It's funny...i don't make a lot of calls on my phone. I was on a voice call for about 15 minutes yesterday. But really do not make that many calls......

Hmmmmm.

So about 5 am this morning my phone is done charging while Im playing grand theft auto 5. I unplug it and stick it in my room. It is asleep until i wake up around 12:15. I look at my phone, after being charged, and have only been sitting asleep for about 7 hours.... and the battery is down to 56 percent.

What the **** mannn. This cant be right, why do I always get the defective units.

do you use google+ also check in settings under location access and see if you have "wifi and mobile network location" enabled. this drained my battery real fast when I had it enabled.

its really frustrating. Anyone have anything I could check for before going back and exchanging the phone? I have push notifications for facebook and instagram, but I dont see any reason those should lower a phone to 55 percent while asleep.

I turned off the moble and network option^. I also changed my notifications for facebook and instagram.... although I didnt see push settings for facebook, but I assume if I disable the notifications that is disabling push.... I dont know what to do beyond that. I shouldnt have to make all these sacrifices for battery life based on what everyone has said... especially almost half gone from being asleep for 7 hours.

You've probably already done this but have you check under the battery usage details to see what is draining so much?

From the last charge, it is android system, android OS, screen, and phone idle. The screen shows 13 which is ridiculous because it was asleep. And the android system usage shows like 5 minutes total but 34 percent of the usage.... Something is up. Its weird though because I charged it the day before and used it from like 8 am to 12 midnight heavily and it lasted the entire time.

You can try booting into safe mode. In safe mode, all your downloaded apps are disabled and only the apps that come preloaded are enabled. You can run it in safe mode for a couple of days to establish if it is a problem with the device or a user downloaded rogue app. If you find the same problem in safe mode, it is likely a problem with the phone.

On my S4, safe mode is entered by switching off the phone, restarting it and then holding the volume down button as the phone boots. Likely the same on the G2, but you may need to confirm.

I am impressed enough by the LG that is tempting me to give android another shot, and sell my Galaxy S4 to fund a G2.

We'll see. iPhone 5S drops Friday, and god willing 4.3 should be available for the S4 in October for Galaxy Gear release.

you need to check for a wake lock.

So I charged to 100 and got the phone into safe mode.... let it it sit asleep from 2 am to about 1pm so like 11 hours, and the phone is at 92 percent. That seems MUCH more like it.

Now I am stumped because I barely installed any application since I had just gotten the phone. Any tips on how to narrow the search down? Like I said when it died quickly no app showed as taking a lot of power.

you need to check for a wake lock.

What do you mean exactly?

I stopped by my local Verizon store and spent some time with the G2. I was very impressed, more than I thought I would be. It looks a lot better in person than it does in the video reviews too.

That's the difficult part. If you have just a few apps installed and don't mind reinstalling them later, i would suggest doing a factory reset. Then after a day or two of settling, start installing them one by one, allowing a day or so between them to gage effect on battery.
