Seems very M9ish with their approach this year.

I am not a fan of the LG skin but I like the buttons on the back as well as the camera.

Seems like a safe release but as we see with the M9 will that work? Samsung has to be loving this for the Android market as how stale some of the bigger competitors have seemed to have gotten with their releases this year.

Two differences that set it apart. It has a removable battery which eleviates battery life issues. It has a a supposedly great camera if it's pans out to be anything like the G3 or better.

This phone looks incredible. I think the form factor is perfect... it's 5.5" but almost the same size as the S6, and considerably smaller than other 5.5" phones like the iPhone 6 Plus.

Quad HD screen, removable battery, incredible camera... this seems like the perfect phone. The only thing holding it back, in my opinion, is LG's ugly skin. I have no idea what sort of process is required to put pure Lollipop on it and keep it updated, but I'm not sure I'd want to go through with the trouble after experiencing the seamless updates on the Nexus 6.

But still, I can't take my eye of this phone. I wish hardware manufacturers like LG would stick to hardware and let Google handle the software. :(

Man, how great would it be if Google chose LG to make the next Nexus device? Polish up the G4 a bit, throw stock Android on it. Boom. I'm sold.

On my G3, I put the Google Now Launcher and it's really similar to basically having your own Nexus phone.

Obviously there will always be a few differences but I reckon with the G4, that gap will be even closer.

People complain about the LG skin, which is absolutely fair enough. But just chuck your own launcher on it (takes 2 minutes) and you will only need LG's software for a few specific things.

The G4 is brilliant, from what I can see. Hopefully I will be one of the UK triallists next Friday, as I can't wait to try it out for myself!

Well, Google has used LG devices for Nexus phones in the past--both the 4 and 5 were LG manufactured devices and both were quite a bit difference in appearance from the phones they were based on. Rumor is they are also producing the next Nexus phone but I wouldn't hold your breath for a removable battery or expandable memory. They have offered the former since the Galaxy Nexus and the latter since the original Nexus One. Google has professed its preference that OEMs don't offer expandable memory so I wouldn't expect to see it in the next Nexus phone either.

I am very interested in upgrading to the LG G4, but I've never had an LG device before. Can someone comment on the LG customer support experience for customers in the US?

Not sure about US but very impressed with LG UK, they fixed my G3 for free when it wasn't technically under warranty.

With my smartphone addiction I am trying to figure out of I am going to jump in the LG world once again. The G3 was pretty dope but I just really hate LG's interface on top of Android. Time will tell the more I hear about it. Pretty content with my S6.

And the more manageable s6 size keeps my interest low on the g4.

Right, I thought it was going to be so hard for me to get use to the S6 coming from the Nexus 6 and 6+ but after about a good week I find myself adjusting to it fairly easy. I actually like the smaller form factor seems like it. Even with having big hands I see it not a problem for my usage.

The reduction in size when going from Note 4 to S6 has been a blessing. If anything I wish the S6 had come in a hair smaller at 5" even.

Overall I am much more satisfied with my S6 in daily use. I just don't see the appeal of phablet size screens or even screens bigger than the S6.

If the future I will stay the same in screen size or smaller.

Rubbish review from Ars, really missed the point.
I think the reviewer just didn't like the phone. It happens sometimes. But he shouldn't let that get in the way of an unbiased review of the product.
He really didn't like the leather backs.

Tbh I'm starting to lose interest in many of the more "professional" reviews, as you said the key word is "bias".

Much prefer user reviews and forums as a reflection of a device.

These reviewers frequently get device fatigue and can be under real time constraints.

I'd trust an MRU review from this forum over somehow who spends the 2 days with it and has to knock out 3000 words lol.

Coming from a one plus one, I agree.

I'm actually hoping this'll be my daily driver for the next year+. With such specs, I hope so.

Now, whether we get the updates in time is the question. Hope Samsung delivers.

Edit: goddamn one handed use of swipe typing on the google keyboard gives so many typos cause of palm touches.

Pre Orders up at Carphone....

LG has commenced shipments of the LG G4 in a few markets this week, although customers in the UK have to wait until May 28 — which is when Carphone Warehouse will start deliveries — to get their hands on the device.

The UK-based retailer is exclusively offering the Black Leather option in the country, with the brown and grey color variants also on offer. Carphone Warehouse has also mentioned that the first 400 customers to pre-order the LG G4 will receive an LG P7 Music Flow Bluetooth speaker — valued at £129 — for free.

Interested in the LG G4? Be sure to check out our review:

Unfortunately it looks like I didn't get acceptance into the G4 UK trial, bit annoying but oh well.
