Yeah but I don't think iOS has so much bloat. I am talking roughly 20 of so apps. I was just looking on it from a general consumer. I am assuming the general public does not know how to disable and hide Android apps. Don't get me wrong, I am pro Android...just been my first time with a carrier phone.
[doublepost=1454519398][/doublepost]
I agree. Or at least make them removable. I wonder how does the carrier and lg benefit from these apps, if they benefit enough go lower their customers user experience hmm.

Yes and no... ;)
Had all the iWorks, Garage Band, iMovie, etc.. stuff too.... Not sure about all Android phones, but if the bloat is an app, if you uninstall it will either uninstall or disable/hide. Some of the Carrier stuff you have to go into Applications to handle.

Still, there are some OEM bloats that are useful. I remember a couple on my G3 and my current Note 5 has some. They are in the minority though. Be nice if they were all just Carrier / OEM apps you could download as you want, not shoved.
My whole point was that as time has moved forward, iOS has started down the bloat path too. Be nice if we could just avoid it.

well yeah that is true. I guess I have been spoilt by nexus devices the past 3 years. I use most if not all the Google apps, so I don't consider them bloat. I just think of it as how nice of Google to pre-install them for me haha.

I don't mind the carrier rubbish if it is removable but often you can only disable at best, and at core level it's baked into the rom/firmware. That irritates me. It's why I always try to go for sim free, unlocked / unbranded devices with generic country firmware. We have to give it to Apple to sticking to its guns and having a generic firmware for everybody.

This is the first time that LG will release its flagship device at the same time as Samsung. I'm hoping that LG becomes the new HTC and its closest rival :)

Or worst case scenario the S7 series swallows up the LG in promotional space / marketing leaving its big new device unveiling wallowing in a pit of press and public disinterest. That's exactly what happened to HTC increasingly as it went up against Samsung marketing juggernaut.

Very true, I hope that's not the case.

Time, because it rules EVERYTHING!
It's gonna be interesting to see what LG have come up with. Although I won't get a G5 as I highly suspect it'll be too big for me, I do respect them, my Nexus 5 still works and is my backup phone, sure it wasn't the best but that thing lasted me well day in day out for nearly 2 years, dropped it a few times too and it still kept on ticking and the screen never shattered, sigh if only the 5X was smaller.

Anyway it's the only LG phone I've had but certainly impressed me.

I have a theory for the cameras. I heard a rumour that one will be 16MP and one will be 8MP. Maybe one will specialise in detail, and one will specialise in low-light. Would be a cool idea, and one that would be vey useful for taking different kinds of photos.

That's actually a pretty neat idea!

It seems like LG will be the first to market for dual-cameras (if you ignore HTC's previous attempts).

While at the present my primary smartphone is the Nexus 6P, I also have an LG V10. It's a stellar effort from LG.

Previously I've owned and enjoyed the LG G3, and G4. Oh sure, the LG UI / Skin isn't the best, it's just different, not something I find objectionable. Admittedly I do like pure Android best, especially from Android 4.x.x forward, I still find I can work almost as fast with LG.

A huge advocate for variety and choices I hope LG continues to get better, they're an important part of Android's current and future success.

I've always been a big fan of lg phones too. I thought the buttons on the back is very intuitive, love the small bezels too.

Would love a lg form factor phone, with Samsung build quality, with Moto / lenovo software.

It seems like lg might get the build quality and form factor down for the g5. A much improved lg skin and Amoled would be perfect for me.

Where are the pics and leaks ? The S7 has been leaked all over the net for weeks now, with solid pictures and specs.

The G5 is being revealed on the same date as the S7, but haven't seen much anything yet.

That's what I was wondering as well. We've seen the S7, the M10 (unfortunately), but not the G5. I want to know how it stacks-up in terms of design to the S7.

I honestly think at this stage we should all know that leaks are very much choreographed affairs. They always happen just at the right time and help build momentum for product unveil.

So the fact there has been minimal suggests that LG are either

1) perhaps using this as a strategy so that if Samsung unveil essentially the near same design as we are all expecting, then LG come in out of the blue and unveil a radically redesigned device with some form of niche & clever twist or twists. It would suddenly garner all the attention in the media and somewhat overshadow the galaxies during that precious few weeks after unveil and right before release. A period filled with hands on impressions, early reviews and more marketing hype madness. It could a great coo for LG.

Or 2) it could mean that LG are afraid to leak physical info as it's not as radically redesigned as rumours suggest / intimate and is much the same as LG G4 and V10 falling as some form of hybrid in-between both.

I have more belief that of those two options, 1 is more possible (if they are using a decent marketing strategy), but it could also be realistically 2.

I am hoping for #1...we need something different to shake things up!

Why should we be excited about the whole always-on thing that LG and reportedly Samsung are doing. It seems very gimmicky to me.

I agree. I don't see the added benefit personally. Then factor in the rumored battery drain. I am not liking this new feature from LG and Samsung at all.
The G5 has my interest if rumors are true that they moved the volume buttons to the side of the device. That was a pet peeve of mine with LG phones. The metal build has my interest as well.

I think always on will be potentially VERY useful.
And the battery drain is only supposed to be 1% an hour.

And OEM battery estimates are always spot on. ;)

But seriously, as long as it can be turned off I'd have no problem with it. As is often repeated here, aren't options good?

I'm more excited about this sexy new metal design and shape, than the always on option, which I am sure can easily be turned off. But this G5 looks to be a real looker :)

And I am sure LG knows well enough to revamp their crappy UI, at least I hope they do.

If the G5 does indeed have an awesome metal design, and very compact size for a 5.6" phone, along with a overhauled UI, I will be a first day customer. But right now, I want to see the Marshmallow UI LG has come up with.

The skin is the one reason i never bought any LG flagship past few years. It's awful.
Is it not something that can be changed with Nova etc?
[doublepost=1455121058][/doublepost]
I had the G3 and the G4. Both great phones but too many concessions to live with, for me.

Could you explain further? I've never owned an LG (just Samsungs and Moto X).
