(Excuse the miss typing though, trying to interact with your phone looking through another recording is fiddly)

But yep as you can see from the video, no hang ups or stuttering anywhere other than my attempt at pulling down notification with one hand whilst recording and my shocking typing looking through the other phone recording it .... The G6 I have is super nippy and great at Ram management too.

Played with a co-worker's yesterday. Yikes - stutter city. I wonder if he had a buggy device or that skin is just that poorly optimized. I had a G3 a couple of years ago and remember it being pretty smooth.

What carrier? I tried out the Verizon G6 for a few days and it was stutter city too, no matter what I did to clean it up. I merely blame Verizon, as @MRU hasn't had many issues. I would like to test out the unlocked, carrier "unbranded" version to see if it was merely the Verizon folks mucking up the firmware.

Coming from an iPhone 7 Plus, I used the feature of YouTube playing in the background on a daily basis.

On Android I start playing a news clip or song then tab out to my web browser or stop watch, or any other app, and the media goes off.

How do I keep YouTube playing the background ?

How do you keep youtube playing? On my 7+ it shuts off if the screen goes off, I've gone nuts trying to figure it out as I was using it for my babies sleep lullaby. I always thought that was a terrible "feature" and probably not youtubes fault, but rather something to do with Apples framework.

Kind of on the same topic, but why is Apple so behind when releasing having multiple apps open like Google and Samsung have? Please no crying that the screen is too small, my 7+ has plenty of room to run 2 apps.

Verizon! Wow, so maybe it's a VZW problem. Damn.

It's just a shame that a device is scuppered by a crappy carrier firmware. When your already the underdog those first impressions users have do count and poor firmware on a carrier model will put people off.

Yup. Don't forget my experience with the sales rep in store: "We don't like showing it and no one cares anyway." I happen to think the G6 platinum is GORGEOUS. I like its looks better than my S8 Plus, to be honest. I'm more of an old school smartphone guy (isn't it amazing that this tech has now been around long enough to call oneself that??) and I prefer a flat screen with small bezels to curved screens. When you pick up this phone it kind of reminds me of what it felt like to first handle the iPhone 4.

I literally cannot believe that sales stores say this kind of thing.
It's such a bad attitude.

The phone shop I worked at, we never deterred anyone from any device. The ony thing we did do though, was give a word of caution to those buying Windows phones and they were coming from say, an older Samsung.

A lot of people were not aware of the app gap (nope, you won't get your Candy Crush games etc!) and we certainly tried to educate people wanting to sign themselves up to a 2 year contract with a Windows phone but would never tell them not to bother. It's their choice, their money.

Also, I agree re the G6.
It's just gorgeous, one of my favourite designs this year so far.
It reminds me of an S8 / Xperia XZ love child. And that is a bloody good thing! The platinum one, anyway.
If I wasn't so obsessed with my KEYone now, I know for a fact the G6 would be on my radar. It still is. Damn that phone devil on my shoulder... :p

My word, to think that that is a 5.7inch Display yet the phone is so damn well sized, I can see it is genuinely smaller than my S7 Edge. Mind boggling.

Yep, very smooth and snappy I see. :)

I personally don't like LG's UI, but I must say, job well done to them with the G6.

When I had the G6 it was an awesome phone but I had a bad experience with the camera. I must have had a bad unit. I have seen some nice shots from the G6 on this forum (well MRU makes all cameras look good!) and at AC.
I might wait til the price goes down a little more and get a used one....

Just wanted to give a heads up about a great sale from Best Buy on the Verizon G6: https://slickdeals.net/coupons/best-buy/

$12/mo for 24 months and/or you can pay off the balance ($288 total, minus any $12 monthly payments you've made) any time you want to be able to upgrade again.

This is much better than those "monthly bill credits" type of deals where you have to stay with the same phone over 2-years and can't upgrade to a new one otherwise you lose your savings.

Look forward to getting my new G6 later this morning :)

Cheers!

Saw the G6 on sale here in Pamplona at a department store for €749 .... LG should have sold it for €599 RRP.

FWIW, when I upgraded my S8 on my iP7+ line at Verizon (paid off my iP7+ and sold on Swappa), I had a $12/month credit for a trade in last year that still had a little less than a year left on it. I was told it would go away and while I was bummed about it, I didn't really care because I was able to sell my 7+ for more than what I owed on it. Well, Verizon gave me a $95 credit on my bill for the remaining months of that trade in. I was pleasantly surprised! So it was nice not to lose out on that monthly bill credit when I paid off my iP7+.

Very cool. Thanks for the tip co.ag.2005 :)

Glad Verizon was nice and gave you the remaining bill credits. Was always worried with those bill credit deals about having to stay with the same phone for 2-years in order to not lose a bunch of money.

By any chance do you think it's a YMMV type of thing though where it completely depends on whether you get a nice rep or not? I always hate it when I have to call back a bunch of times trying to get a nice rep or haggling with supervisors.

Youtube intentionally stops it from playing unless you pay for youtube ted.

Purchase protube, its a one time purchase and you get background youtube.

There is lag from the time you touch the app to when it opens. Would drive me nuts.

Its instant on other phones like the Pixel and iPhone.

Good question. I'm not sure if it's YMMV or not, but it was done automatically, I didn't have to do anything to get it. Once I paid off my iP7+ (which the promotional credit was tied to), I got an email right away stating that I'd receive the rest of the promotional credit as a bill credit. I'm attaching the email contents here. Here was the subject line of the email "Your device promotional credit has been removed from your account" and the attached figure is the contents of the email.

I love my Pixel but it still has the exact same micro pauses when launching those same apps especially Google Play Music, Facebook and YouTube.

Could you please make the same video, but first clear all apps from RAM ?
And you are using Nova launcher, right? :)

Finally fondled one of these at BB today, extremely nice looking and feeling. The only thing was that a cursory look at the UI and it seemed very plain, maybe I'm just used to Samsungs bells and whistles. I wish we could get a developer model with vanilla Google, while I'm dreaming I'd install O-beta on it. Oh well, LG can't even give us an unlocked bootloader.

Can do but will be next week as I'm away from home at moment. Yes using Nova, but can do same using stock launcher also.

Edit. Did it using crappy hotel wifi. Used stock launcher to show no bias for another launcher. Only pause mid flow is when I realise I opened my tapped an extra app myzone and it loads but once loaded in the mix as you can see everything is smooth and even the small delay re-opening that was commented prior is a non issue with stock launcher so perhaps it's Nova's animation setting which I changed that caused that.

The LG launcher is fairly bare - hence I am using Nova on mine.

Thanks. Opening apps that are already in RAM is always super fast and super smooth. Now this is a real test, and it does look good I must admit. I'm still waiting for OP5, and after that I have to make a decision and going shopping. Once again :(

Yeah I've been very happy so far with the G6 tbh. It's the wide angle camera though that I love.

Just literally taken this ... Again excuse tapatalk compression as I am roaming.
