It's not that hard to set the standards for 2017 flagships if one is the first 2017 flagship to be life....

Reading the positives and negatives I have to say nothing special there, just another phone from LG.

For me what's special is the form factor. Having a narrower phone, with a much larger screen in a smaller package is flagship worthy, especially if they didn't have to use gimmicks like a curved screen to achieve it. IMO a truly boring "flagship" is something like the HTC10, which ticks off all the marks but fails to be any better than a $100 Moto G IMO because of the awful form factor.

But of course LG goes and ruins it with their locked bootloader and less than stellar software.

Edit: Wait, it's not an OLED screen?!?! Bleh, well that ruined the interest I had in it. I'm curious how they do an always on screen and not kill the battery.

They are only test units that have been reviewed but all opinions on you tube so far are very positive for the G6. Hhmm.

Mostly agree, but I think if the G6 is well reviewed, it'll serve as a great option in the Android space for those who don't want to deal with the curved screen offerings from Samsung.

Also, LG (along with Apple finally waking up from their slumber this year) will keep Samsung on their toes with competition.
The top notch design is going to make people notice this one more than most of their previous phones I think. That and the excellent media attention they've managed to get by showing up with this new aspect ratio and minimal bezel approach before the S8 is even officially announced. For me personally, this is the first LG phone I've really cared about for...years. I think this phone may do great things for them.

I kind of like the timing of the release, I get the G6 with time to try it and if I do not care for it I would return it and try the S8 almost immediately.

The 18:9 ratio might take some time getting use to. The g6 will be tall but without large bezels at least it would be mostly screen.

The battery test results are in from GSMArena. The G6 doesn't really do that well. It does better than the G5 it not impressed.

That's the deal breaker right there for me. This is a 5.7" phone, but with a small 3,300mAh battery. The S7 Edge is 5.5" and has a large 3,600mAh battery.

In my opinion this phone should have gone with like 3,500mAh minimum, and I wish one of these manufacturers had the balls to stuff in a 4,000mAh battery like Motorola used to do on their Droid Turbo phones and those had much smaller screens too.

Reviews are saying this phone gets like 3.5h to 4h Screen On time, which sucks and is unacceptable in 2017.

I personally could not live with edges, false touches and trying to screen cover it with a protector. Video and games were another minus for me with edge display.

Impressive they kept the weight down on the Edge with its battery size and it also has a nice screen to body ratio. But I lived it and decided for me it was not the way to go. We will see how I feel about the g6.

How could these old 5.2" Android phones fit in LARGE 3,900mAh batteries, and a 5.7" device can only do a 3,300mAh battery. These old Motorola phones were raved about for their battery longevity;

2014 Motorola Droid Turbo - 5.2" screen, and 8.3" thick = 3,900mAh battery
http://www.gsmarena.com/motorola_droid_turbo-6727.php

2015 Motorola Droid Turbo 2 - 5.4" screen, and 9.2" thick = 3,760mAh battery
http://www.gsmarena.com/motorola_droid_turbo_2-7713.php

I'll take a slightly thicker phone, with a 3,900mAh battery over a thinner phone with small battery. WTF manufacturers grow a pair and put bigger batteries in.

I guess it will be about what I experience with my S7 and maybe a little better than my HTC 10 or about the same.

I keep going back to us being limited to 32GB onboard and my complete lack of knowledge on how good LG is about updates on security patches.

I definitely otherwise quite like the overall design of this phone. But now I am leaning toward Samsung...either sticking to what I have now (nice flat S7 and HTC10) until Note 8 comes out, or looking at S8 more closely if it brings something new to me that I am currently lacking from my Android experience. I'm still not sold on all the curves yet.

I won't really know for sure what I like until I actually see and hold it and try it for at least five minutes.

Time, because it rules EVERYTHING!
Some pics of my Spigen case VS:

The G6 case is the white silvery one, this is it compared to my Note 5 case:

The G6 case inside the Note 5 case:

Compared to my iPhone 6S 4.7" inside its official Apple leather case, this is an example I think of why a 5.8" iPhone will NOT be the same size as the iPhone 7:

And this is the iPhone inside the Spigen case and out of its own Apple case:

Gotta be the weight. Why did Motorola go to mods and then down to a 2600 in the Moto Z?

Yep, the droid turbo was a hefty beast even if its 'stats' don't seem to suggest so. I had one (Moto X Force here) and whilst it may have had a bigger battery but SOT in daily use was only at max 3.5-4 hours. It also had a piss poor QHD amoled screen (very yellow tint), the plastic screen was also very easy to scratch regardless of claims of shatterproof, and it had a hefty weight - 190g ..... I wouldn't hold it up as a bastion of anything ...

Anyone know if the unlocked one will work on CDMA carriers in the US? Tempted to preorder one over at B&H.

T Mobile has it priced right. The AT&T deal would be ok but my husband and I took a similar deal to get our Note7s and now we have S7 Edges on that deal after the recall and we are stuck with the line we opened for two years. And hubby has no interest in the LG G6. So...I'll have to see how the unlocked pricing and availability is if I want it.

I don't care to have Google Home because I already have Echo Dots. We like to ask Alexa if she is a spy for the CIA. She's always so firm that she's not spying on us. It's cute but creepy because I assume these days she is, anyway. The NSA and CIA will hear a lot of burping contests and grocery lists. Anyway if it's free I guess I'd take it but it's not really a compelling freebie for me.

Wow, on March 30th at least my grubby hands will be able to give it a go checking it out at a Verizon store to see if I like the look and feel. Usually my local store gives access to the Play Store so I am looking forward to a good nice trial for first impressions.

B&H Photo in NYC will carry unlocked versions. I wonder what the price will be. And how will you get updates? I hope they aren't as bad as Samsung has been with my unlocked S7, which is still stuck on the December update.

I want one but I think it will be a no go for me. I like the wide angle camera, though. Very nice.
