I was watching the review and then suddenly ahhhhhh for a moment I had forgot about that thing with no wireless charging outside USA and no fancy DAC outside South Korea. LG y u hate Europe m8?

It's frustrating that such a nice piece of phone tech is so hamstrung at the start by these regional snubs. I'd get the wireless charging but the 32 gb storage would be annoying if I were to get it loaded with bloat from my carrier.

I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with the V30. I think they are already absorbing the negative reaction to the doofus decisions they made on the G6 and will adjust accordingly.

Time, because it rules EVERYTHING!
I'm still keen for the G6, don't use headphones and I've seen a review claim the US model none super DAC model is a VAST improvement over the G5, so much so that you would need expensive headphones to tell the difference between the G6 DACS.
I would of been annoyed with no wireless charging if it wasn't for USB C fast charging.

How can your US carriers do these BOGOF offers ? Are they contingent on you taking another cellular line/contract ?

Well we have everything all under one account, but when we did BOGO for our Note 7s we opened two new lines to get the deal. When we got our Note 7's the second Note was not free but offered discounted to the full price of an S7 Edge at that time. So we were to pay whatever the difference was between the Note 7 and Edge 7. But the recall happened so the replacement S7 Edge ended up being free.

So now I have two lines and my husband has two lines. We each had a line our iPhones were on, with phone numbers we had for years. And now we have these new numbers for our Android phones. I'm finding it extremely convenient having two lines even though I don't work. It would take more words than it's worth to explain why. But it's been a revelation.

I forgot to explain that for the "free" phone, we are committed to keeping that line for 24 months. We also are "stuck" with that free phone and can't upgrade it until 24 months are over. At least that's what I heard as we bought it. We don't care as long as we get unlocked phones we will swap sims and AT&T so far has let us.

yep, for instance, Verizon has a $200 trade in offer with the G6 pre-order. But, you get that $200 spread out over 24-months, therefore, you'd have to stay with Verizon if you want to get that full $200.

email fine print: **$672 device payment purchase req’d. Less $200 trade-in/promo credits issued over 24 mos; credit starts w/in 1-2 cycles & promo credit ends when balance is paid or line terminated/transferred or changed to an ineligible plan; 0% APR. Eligible trade-in must be in good working & cosmetic condition. Limited time offer.

Kind of. What they do is that in order to get the bogo you have to sign up for a payment plan, and then they credit your payment plan every month.

So for example, let's say the payment plan for the G6 is $25 a month, so every month they'll charge you the $25, but on the same bill will also give you a $25 credit, so if you keep the line active for 24 months it ends up free. But if you cancel early, you have to pay the remaining balance.

That's the deal breaker right there for me. This is a 5.7" phone, but with a small 3,300mAh battery. The S7 Edge is 5.5" and has a large 3,600mAh battery.
You need to remember that you can't compare screen size between different ratios. The 5.5" S7 Edge has a screen area of 84.5cm² to the 86.5cm² on the 5.7" G6.

Also, don't forget that the rumored 5.7" S8 will only have a 3000mAh battery.

Essentially, these trade in promos are contracts. T-Mobile's bill payment system sucks, which has me worried about ditching my S7 for a S8, iPhone OLED model, or Note 8. My brand new S7 cost me $250 before selling my Nexus 5X and flipping the free SD card I got with it. So I going to do my research first and foremost before trading stuff in. I don't plan on leaving T-Mobile in the next 2 years though.

Don't forget LG might offer some customers a free TV too, which is good to flip if you don't need.

i agree..... My Pixel XL (3450 mAh) and OnePlus 3t (3400 mAh) both have smaller batteries than my S7 edge (3600 mAh) but both get significantly better battery life than the S7 edge for me.

Bloody hell. I work in a phone shop at a weekend in the UK and man am I glad we don't work like the US contracts work!

I'd be scratching my head alllllll day long!

It's bad enough doing a contract and a customer being 'pre-approved' an ID mobile connection without the need for an additional credit check. Worth it if they have kids and need a well priced sim only, but I often have to ponder for many more additional moments if they accept the second line (rarely happens) haha.

Back on topic though (sorry!) the G6 looks amazing I think. Guy I work with at CPW is a big LG fan (rocking G4 at min) and is due his 2 year upgrade and is opting for this soon as it comes in. I think it's a lovely design.

Never had an LG phone myself.

Easy to explain: Samsung has awful standby battery life compared to industry leaders.

Sometimes it's insanely good on my S7 Edge, S7 and hubby's S7 Edge, rivaling my iPhone 7 Plus's better days (which has been comparatively mediocre on the last iOS 10 public release). And other times it's like an electricity vampire was feasting on them as they sat doing very little.

There doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason to it. I think they have a secret life and run off to bars and sing karaoke and do terrible "dad dancing" when we aren't paying attention. Or troll Apple fans on tech blogs. ;)

My HTC 10 is nothing to get excited about in terms of battery life, but it is far more predictable and consistent.

I am planning on doing a factory reset tomorrow to see if it improves the battery life because a full charge shouldn't estimate 16 hrs.

Wow. I'm out on this one then. Sorry, LG. 32gb internal in 2017 isn't gonna cut it.
Yes that's a sticking point for me, too. I don't consider myself an app hog and load in only what I truly enjoy but after the bloat from the carrier and the manufacturer is loaded in, cough cough...Facebook...there really is surprisingly little left for consumers. I can certainly work through the limit, but for that price I don't want to be rationing my space. I want a bit of luxury. Which is what a nice big storage allotment is. On Android, I'd certainly be happy with 64GB as long as I can also use an SD card for photos and videos and music.

Having used the adoptable storage feature on my Nvidia Shield TV first gen, I would be very surprised if you actually noticed any performance difference day to day with a decent SD card.
Well another reason is that I wanted to be able to pass the SD card to the next device. But it's good to know you aren't noticing a performance difference. Thanks!
