I will just wait till they have sales on this phone.

In past I always picked up lastest and greatest. Always iphone first day. Always Galaxy first days. Paid full price for lg G3 first day cause I wanted to try to lg G watch back in 2014.

NEVER AGAIN.

Just wait for sales. I may pick up this phone next year.

Just got myself an lg G5 for $5/month att next Best Buy promo. None of this $20-30 a month "credit". Phone is literally fire sale for $120 installment payment. $8 sales taxes.

You need to remember. Those iPhone 7's are all full retail units with possibly updated hardware since launch to resolve or improve on any issues and several software updates.
And ALL those LG G6's being tested are 'pre-production' units with unfinished and buggy software.

Something to keep in mind, we need to wait for the proper retail hardware and software to fully rely on any results.
:D:D:DI know. That's why I'm so excited...it's already this good, even with the flaws! I'd already take those results as they're better than what I have on my SE and my HTC 10.

The one thing it can't do is work with Daydream and certainly not with Gear VR. But that's okay, as it is I worry I'm shortening the life on my poor S7 and S7Edge. They overheat pretty hot in VR, sometimes. I'll probably give up on phone VR and get a PlayStation or something, at some point. Meanwhile I'll keep enjoying my Samsung VR.

Yeah, their sure are some bargains if you go a couple of gens old. I will be looking at a new phone this year, trouble is in the UK I expect the iPhone 8 will cost £1000 or more and it will never be discounted, I don't think I can stomach a phone costing twice as much as my iPad Pro.. where as the G6 will be discounted by the market and it may even start from £600. So a potential price of half that of the iPhone and less then an 128GB iPhone 7 4.7".

It makes you think...

Yeah. Different countries have different pricing structures. iPhones on sale seem to be "cheaper" in the USA than other countries.

Right now. I can get an iPhone 7 32gb for installment pricing for $480 PLUS another $100 gift card from big electronics seller Best Buy. Even with taxes and activation. It comes out to $530 and plus my $100 gift card they give me. So effective price out the door is $430 for a $650 iPhone 7 (plus taxes) so around a $700 iPhone for $430.

U don't have to wait a couple of generations to get deals. The lg G5 is like only 10 moths old and selling with big carriers in the USA like att sprint and Verizon for $120 now. It's not an old phone. It was $650?

Google pixel was selling for a ridiculous $240 at Verizon a couple of months after its release in November 2016.

Just be patient. Don't buy these phones at launch time for full price. Wait for deals.

It depends...sometimes carriers do BOGO deals at launch, which is how I have a free S7 Edge plus a free Gear 4G enabled watch and a free 256Gb SD card to use with it. That was all preorder stuff for the Note7 that I got to keep after the recall.

I did get a deal on my HTC 10 after it had been out awhile.

The only benefit I got getting an IPhone months after launch was they had fixed most of the launch day defects by then. ;)

LG G6 was said to be one of the showstoppers at MWC2017 in Barcelona. It looks great with its huge screen and tiny bezel, but it's the camera that excites me most. However, pricing and availability information is yet to be disclosed.

I buy my phones out right and not on contract so have to wait for them to drop. It will be worth holding off on the G6 anyway to ensure their are no issues like with the GPS as their were on the G5.

Keep me sane! I want to preorder but I should wait, too. I really want an unlocked one. Buying through my carrier is a pain even if we want to pay upfront for a lot of tedious bureaucratic reasons I never understand and won't bore you all with even if I did understand it. I don't know if every carrier is like AT&T but sometimes I think I need a lawyer to sort it all out. Even my husband gets a headache and he sorts through complicated stuff for a living.

Anyway part of the fun is window shopping these things.

I would have also been interested in the Huawei P10 but USA got excluded on that one. Lol, I found on Amazon some LG G6 cases that mimic some of the Huawei colors. So I won't be shut out of that weird celery green color, after all. :p

T-Mobile's LG G6 might be released on April 7
Promo material posted on Twitter (apparently by someone who works at T-Mobile) shows the magenta carrier's G6 with an April 7 date on its home screen. Quite often, promo images like these can reveal launch dates in this manner - via what's seen on a phone's home screen.

If this is true then it is a big fail on LGs part. Most rumors have the Galaxy S8 Pre orders on April 10th and to hit shelves on April 21.
Most people will just wait to see what the S8 is all about and LG G6 will be a faded memory by then.

LG should have the G6 in stores by mid march or risk it getting swept away by the marketing blitz Samsung will have for the S8.

They are shooting themselves in the foot so many ways on this poor phone, I have to wonder at what their executives are thinking. The really big mistake is not going 64 GB minimum onboard storage for all regions. There are plenty of people who would be thrilled to have that and not feel like they also have to shell out for an SD card.

At least throw that bone to Europe since they aren't getting the DAC and the wireless charging.

There must be some really tight constraints they've drawn around themselves in trying to align their features and pricing. To me, reading forum comments, it seems like they don't have a strong grasp of what their customers want, but maybe their marketing data tells a much bigger and more accurate picture of what their consumers want at certain price points than I could possibly glean from internet rants.

I'm really looking forward to real world impressions. The G6 isn't a home run for me, but I'm liking a lot of decisions that LG made with it. I suspect people not interested in Samsung will, too. I think it can also steal away people who are frustrated by Google's inability to stock the Pixel.

If LG can stick the price and launch, they'll be giving themselves a really solid chance at undercutting Samsung/Google and, to a lesser extent, maybe even Apple.

I've bought a G6 thin case to get an idea of its size, I'll take some photos comparing it to what I have if I get the chance when it turns up, still looking like a good device so far. Still no UK RRP yet though, shame we won't get wireless but I guess fast charge USB C makes up for it.

Well I've read somewhere that it will be £699. Can't remember where.

I got a Spigen case from Amazon and it fits inside of my iPhone 6s Plus. It's pretty impressive, actually. Apple has some work to do...

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01N6T3N9T/?tag=pocketlintc07-21

Got it in white, I am looking forward even more now to trying the pocket test out!
That case is gorgeous in white. Now I don't feel so bad about the USA not getting the white G6. Unless it's going to be a carrier exclusive somehow.

By the way, to anybody who might know-- how good or bad is LG about getting security updates out to customers? Either on carriers or unlocked. I'm on AT&T in the US. I do okay on my AT&T S7Edge but my unlocked S7 is months behind on security updates. I'm pulling the sim out of it and putting it back in my S7 Edge and never ever touching another unlocked Samsung unless they change their ways.

Real impressive the screen to body ratio. Of course it needs to check lots of other boxes before I go for it. I am hopefully optimistic and can use my Jump if I like it enough.

Shame... I was doing some research and it looks like LG doesn't provide a way to unlock the bootloader for the US models. If so then FU LG, I'm getting tired of this locked phone crap from manufacturers. If for some reason LG does provide a US unlock then I would definitely consider it, seems like an awesome phone and I have more interest in it than the S8.

LG is apparently crapping on every non Asian market. Well, they are giving us wireless charging...but only 32 GB base storage and no white color option for us and no high end DAC.

I am waiting to see if white is some sort of carrier exclusive. I'm so sick of that, too. I'm sick of Asian based companies giving other regions the lesser specs and more limited color choices. I can maybe understand there's a marketing reason for limiting the color choices. But I don't understand why they would shortchange us on something like 4GB system RAM vs 6GB and 32 GB storage vs 64GB or whatever better specs they reserve for Asian markets.

I think it's a lot more competitive in the Asian market because they have loads of different manufactures making android phones, most of them we haven't even heard of over here and never release outside of Asia. So I think they have to offer top of the range specs/ features/colours just to compete. It still sucks though and I'm not even considering the LG G6 because of the rubbish they are trying to serve us up in Europe.

I think you're absolutely right on everything in you post right down to being served rubbish in Europe. Though at least you folks get a chance to consider the Huawei P10, which is snubbing the US, probably due to politics if my guess is correct.

The thing is...the G6 could be a real contender at long last in your market and mine, if they hadn't been so stupid withholding everything that made the phone such a perfect package in the leaks to our respective tech publications. At the very least, bring up the minimum storage to 64GB so all my apps will fit easily and I can save my SD card for photos and media. Europe should have gotten the good DAC, at least. I'd actually prefer that for myself but we got wireless charging so I'm not going to sulk over the DAC. I understand LG wanted to keep costs and prices at a certain level and some sacrifices had to be made.

But it is so insulting that Europe got nothing.

LG G6 review: it flies… like a G6!

Positives
Glass/metal build is great
Excellent camera quality
Wireless charging on the US model
Solid, smooth performance
Impressive battery life
18:9 screen is fantastic
Thin bezels
IP68 dust and water resistance
MicroSD card expansion as standard

Negatives
Speaker is weak
Only one storage option for most regions

Bottom Line
9

LG’s return to form involves going back to basics. From the unique 18:9 display to the dual camera and excellent overall package, there’s a lot to like about the LG G6, which sets the standard for flagship phones in 2017.

It's not that hard to set the standards for 2017 flagships if one is the first 2017 flagship to be life....

Reading the positives and negatives I have to say nothing special there, just another phone from LG.

Mostly agree, but I think if the G6 is well reviewed, it'll serve as a great option in the Android space for those who don't want to deal with the curved screen offerings from Samsung.

Also, LG (along with Apple finally waking up from their slumber this year) will keep Samsung on their toes with competition.
