I mean, I care for specs as much as you guys, but I still think it's a great phone.

Looks very sleek, great screen, improved skin, good specs, etc.

It's not perfect, obviously, but the S8 won't be either. For me, the AMOLED panel (with future possible burn-in issues) and the round edges of the screen are big setbacks, despite the phone having the new 835 and better specs.

4GB RAM should be enough for a phone. 32GB I agree is starting to become too little.

The screen looks beautiful, with amazing colors and brightness. Another win for me.

It's a very nice phone despite not having the best specs, but I also agree about some of the stupid LG decisions regarding specs by region.

So:
Asia: Higher DAC, 64 GB version
US: Wireless charging
Europe; what exactly? None of those features?

It's just mind boggling that a company would reserve some features for some markets this just doesn't make sense at all.

Also a snapdragon 821 chip for a quad HD+ resolution? Are you kidding me that's the same chip as seen in the pixel and v20 now 6 months old, how #one can put that into a 2017 flagship is beyond me.

And then...No removable battery

Man LG you needed a killer phone this one isn't. seems like the V line is Lgs new flagship. I fully expect this phone to cost at least 600 bucks and I'd rather do the smart thing and buy a v20 or one plus 3t and save the money for a nice dinner or whatever

Europe supposedly will have a DAC, but not as good as the one in Asia.

Yep, wireless charging and the quad DAC should have been on all devices regardless of region.
Amen. I just don't understand how they can make these choices that essentially mean dangling hot features and products in front of customers while saying "Hey, look what...you're NOT getting!" Just like when Samsung didn't release the Note 5 in Europe. I mean talk about creating non-sympathy for their company & brand. Is it all due to manufacturing capacity restrictions? Fear of taking financial risk? I would guess neither, and at any rate if the reason were something along those lines, they should find a better way of wrapping the turd than making customers feel cheated.

Love how the G6 looks btw.

But I love listening to music too, and I live in Europe...

Yep, and you know we will be paying the european premium (always pay more than USA & Asian counterparts) and that would be just about bearable was it not for the fact, that we know now we are getting essentially a 'lesser' version; which just rubs salt in the wound.

With the LG G6 revealed, the Galaxy S8 leaked and iPhone 8 leaks it looks like the next innovation in smartphones is getting rid of; buttons, shrinking bezels and increasing screen size.. Im loving this.

While the price was not revealed, I thought I saw $799 for the USA. Cannot remember who reported that be if it is true, .....

I'm curious, around what price point was the LG G4 selling at when it launched? Has the G-series always been priced as a premium-segment product?

Its Flossy Carter. One of the best no frills tell it how it is reviewers out there.
I thought that cat looks familiar. I don't have time to see the whole vid at the moment. I'm glad Flossy got his review posted already.

Nice to know I have an option outside the S8 with my carrier. I am impressed with the G6 and Xperia XZ Premium. Solid crop of flagships from MWC.

Yikes that's a lot of money. I mean considering what the S8 is likely to cost. And with an S8 I could do VR. I'm not sure if the G6 will work with Google's Daydream VR system.

I keep complaining about this phone yet I keep looking at it. I find it oddly compelling even though it's just a rectangular slab. It's just so nicely flat and rectangular with those cute little corners. This is so weird but it just looks "friendly". I'm not so sure the finalized price will look too friendly.

A lot of good first impression videos popping up, including MKBHD and Krystal key (who loves the device).

I'm really believing in the 18:9 ratio. It shows more up-down info on screen, which is great for scrolling through browsers, Facebook, and really anything. And it allows the device to be a smaller footprint than the Pixel XL. Even smaller so compared to the iPhone Plus, which is preposterously big by today's standards.

And accomplishing all this without needing edge screens.

Hush, you. Hush. You and @jamezr just hush now about this phone. ;)

Yeah I'm liking the danged phone too much so far. I'm liking the wide angle lenses. I love my iPhone camera but sometimes it just can't capture enough of a scene when I'm out and about. Selfies are a nightmare if I want more than two people in them. Forget about backgrounds. My Samsungs thankfully have a wider field of view for selfies. But this takes it up a notch. I keep imagining the fun I'll have with it during trips.

But I don't want to like the phone because of those weird regional feature restrictions. I want to pout and be grumpy over in my corner instead of going  I need dis!

I do not need it. So y'all just hush about the cool stuff. o_O ;):D

If I recall correctly the LG G2 was priced approximately 200 dollars lover than the Galaxy S4 for example. It sold well and since then LG hiked up their prices.

I've watched a lot of hands on videos now and have to say I'm really impressed with the G6 (bar the silly regionalisation of features).

LG's ui still isn't my favourite by a long mile, but it seems to be much simplified over previous years and more coherent and the split screen view of stock apps in landscape is a good idea.

I may look at getting a G6 from Asian market after it's been around for a while and price has dropped to around €500.

It makes one wonder what they've got planned for the V30. And how they will crush hopes and dreams for people in different regions with that phone!

I read that they based these regional decisions on their marketing research. I don't know whom they polled, but it certainly wasn't the people who frequent these news and blog sites!

Didn't the G5 come with the SD820 ? And now a year later the next generation G6 just gets the SD821 LAME. I would dare say the SD821 might actually be worse than the SD820, because all the 821 really is, an overclocked 820, meaning it runs hotter and would drain a little more battery too. For 2017 the SD835 is very important, because supposed to be much more EFFICIENT and run cooler, while also being faster but I like it for it's battery friendly design.

And then the 3,300mAh battery in a 5.7" screen phone, come on guys, that just sucks. This phone will probably have ok good battery life, but it won't be a champ. WHY THE **** ARE MANUFACTURES SCARED TO PUT A NICE SIZED BATTERY IN THESE LARGER PHONES ? This G6 would be sweet with a S7 Edge sized 3,600mAh or even little larger
[doublepost=1488299611][/doublepost]Only way I'd get the LG G6, is if the T-Mobile version bootloader is unlocked, and it gets CM14.1. What are the chances of that ?

Android Central has a video up on You Tube where a couple of their writers detail the behind the scenes tour they got with LG and they gave some pretty rational reasons for these decisions that on first glance had seemed irrational.

As to the choice to go with the 821 vs 835, that was a decision any manufacturer seeking a spring release was going to be stuck with. It happened to HTC, too. Simple answer is that Samsung pulled an Apple and bought up an entire production run of 835's.

I would imagine that LG and HTC had to adjust design plans and decisions and schedules accordingly. I'm not expressing it well but I think you will get what I'm saying. I'm starting a diet and fitness regimen and tapering off on caffeine so...can not brain so good. :p Sigh. Obsessing over chocolate donuts and coffee every time I see articles on the new Apple campus.
