DisplayPort output? you mean like a dp to USB-C cable?
You mean without Wacom Link Plus? No, I have GeForce GTX 1050 Ti video-card with Display Port output and used DP->MiniDP cable to connect Wacom Link Plus then monitor via USB-C.

Hey all, just finished reading all 15 pages of this thread. So much info, thank you for this! I have the newer 4k LG Ultrafine (24" version) and a Lenovo ThinkPad E14, which has a USB-C port that supports DisplayPort. If I use the USB-C cable that came in the box with the monitor, everything works great except the brightness controls. I've tried several of the apps that are supposed to allow brightness adjustments with no luck. Am I missing something here?

Hello! I've tried my best but need help.

I bought a Mac mini and the 27" 5k LG monitor, which I love together. Started a new job and provided with a Lenovo T14 laptop with a AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 4650U with Radeon Graphics 2.10 GHz. I picked up a Wacom plus and USB-C to mini-dp cable from Startech product CDP2MDPMM1MB in hopes of using the monitor with my laptop. Connected the USB-C to the monitor and Wacom, then the miniDP from the Wacom to the laptop and USB from the Wacom to a USB A of the laptop skipping use of the HDMI port of the Wacom altogether. Nothing but audio through the monitor.
Thanks in advice for any advice.

What's the CDP2MDPMM1MB for?

Audio on the LG comes through the USB connection. You just need to fix the Mini DisplayPort input of the Wacom Link Plus now.

Doesn't the Lenovo T14 come with USB-C or Thunderbolt? Why do you need a Wacom Link Plus?

The laptop has no miniDP port so the Wacom miniDP port goes to a USB C on the laptop. That’s the Startech cable.
The Lenovo has no Thunderbolt but does have USB C.
Thx for the help

You can just connect the UltraFine to USB-C using the "normal" USB-C cable that comes with the monitor. No need for the Wacom Link Plus.
Yes, no point using
Computer USB-C -> WacomLink Plus -> Display USB-C
when you can just use
Computer USB-C -> Display USB-C.

But remember that you won't get 5K resolution, only 4K
It remains to be tested (AFAIK) if the monitor will do 5K at 38 Hz. This is within its pixel clock limits when using an USB-C connection (about 600 MHz).

As far as I know, only one person has tried it. I would like to see this success reproduced by others.

Do you have a normal USB-C cable to connect between the Wacom and the LG UltraFine 4K?
The LG UltraFine 4K comes with two cables - one is Thunderbolt and one is USB-C (not Thunderbolt).

I am using the one with the thunderbolt 3, not the normal type c, that’s the one I should use right?

Is the Wacom Link Plus' USB 2.0 cable plugged in to the laptop?
I just tried plug the micro-usb on wacom and usb on my desktop, the desktop now recognize the monitor but nothing happens.

To whoever still has issues with setting up the monitor, here is maybe something that may help you, I am using the new LG Ultrafine 4k which I bought in Jun 2021, I also have an LG Ultragear gaming monitor:

The LG Ultragear has two HDMI and one display port, not a lot but enough for me.
The desktop I am using is an Alienware R12 with RTX 3080 which has three display ports and one hdmi.

I need to use both of the monitors for working and gaming, I tried a lot of the methods in the previous 15 pages, I used a lot of cables and adapters and none of them work (maybe I missed something lol). Eventually, I was able to make it work using the cable that was mentioned on page 6:

I didn't use the Wacom adapter which is like 100 CAD. However, it does work. I returned it eventually since that amazonbasic cable is all you need. (big thx to DeanL, if it is not for him I won't be posting this here)

The only change I did is that previously, I was using a dp to dp connecting from my LG Ultragear to my desktop, I changed that with HDMI to HDMI, and left three Displayport left on my desktop, now using one of the display ports and cable to connect to the LG ultrafine 4k.

One thing I should mention is that because I am using an HDMI to HDMI cable that came from a Nintendo switch, I am only running 2k 144hz, which is slightly lower since the LG Ultragear 27gp83b-b is a 2k 165hz, so I am purchasing another HDMI to HDMI cable which supports 2k 165hz.

Thx to whoever helped me with the setting up, good luck!
