The Mojave update is complete.
LG screen still not working.
I can't test my TB2/TB3 adapter, is that the problem?
I have been struggling with this problem for 3 days.
I'm out of ideas, I think I'll give up...

What kind of Belkin cable is this ? Do you have a link if possible? Thank you.
google Belkin Charge and Sync Cable for HUAWEI VR Glass
It takes DispayPort input and USB 2.0 and outputs USB-C. You'll also need a Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort adapter.

What does that mean? To test it, you connect the adapter to a computer's Thunderbolt port, and connect a Thunderbolt device to the adapter...

Did LG ever update this with a newer panel that's not a prone to have pink edges or burn in? I know the 2015 iMacs suffered from this but the 2017 ones seem better.

FWIW, I have no burn in or pink edges on my 2017 5K iMac.
My 2016 LG 5k has edge image retention, the 2017 lg 5k has pink edges and image retention, the 2019 iMac 5k has orange edges, and the 2019 Ultrafine 5k is perfect with no issues at all. I think it’s panel lottery and I’m not doing too well 🤷‍♂️

At least I haven’t had a dead pixel in 20 years. Those were the days…

People are going to go ballistic if the LG panel in the Studio Display starts developing edge issues.
I don’t think it would because it’s basically the same display that’s in the 27” iMac if I’m not mistaken. But just in case I have apple care on both of mine

What are some monitors that are good to pair with the ultrafine 5K? I'd like to run a 24 inch vertical monitor as a secondary monitor, but I'm not sure what specs would be optimal. Any suggestions?

4K for 24” would be a sufficient pixel density to effectively keep up with the 5K 27” in terms of scaled of text quality.

you have to send it to lg. I think it's a $250 fix.

My new work laptop is an 2021 (M1 Pro) 14-inch MacBook Pro. I tried to connect my 27-inch LG UltraFine 5K monitor, and the screen is black. I hear a USB connection sound play when I plug it in, however, indicating the laptop is being charged and getting power.

At some point, I plugged in the Mac power adapter and replugged the LG UltraFine 5K and it turned on after a few minutes randomly.

Am I missing something? Anyone have the trick to make this work
When mine died I had to send it in to lg for repairs. Happened again 2 weeks after I got it back.

I solved my issue by purchasing Apple's Thunderbolt 4 cable. Have not had ANY issues at all since that purchase. Highly recommended for ANYONE who is having weird issues with their LG UltraFine 5K monitor.

I have two LG 5k screens and wonder if they can be daysychained with the new m2 macbookspros?

I also wonder if I can use a 14 inch version to have them all connected?

LG UltraFine 5K displays cannot be daisy chained since they do not have a second Thunderbolt port.

Two LG UltraFine 5K displays cannot be connected to a single Thunderbolt 3/4 port (using a Thunderbolt 4 dock or hub) since the Thunderbolt port can only pass two separate DisplayPort signals and each display uses two DisplayPort signals so you would need 4 total to get 5K60 on each display.

If you want to connect two 5K displays to a single Thunderbolt 3/4 port, then they need to be Apple Studio Display connected to a Thunderbolt 4 hub or dock (Apple Studio Displays support DSC so they can do 5K60 from a single DisplayPort signal).

To connect two LG 5K displays to a M2 MBP, connect them to separate Thunderbolt 4 ports of the MBP.

Used my Ultrafine 5K that I bought at the same time as my 2020 Intel Mac Mini and mostly loved it. The occasional screen turning itself off/on was mitigated by running LG’s Screen Manager app on login.

I've tried searching this thread to no avail. My Ultrafine 5K's camera and mic stopped working for some reason. In the past this occasionally happened but it would be fixed after a reboot or (at worst) an SMC reset. I've tried resetting the montior via the LG screen manager but that doesnot seem to do anything. Any thoughts? I'm running a 2019 15" MBP with Big Sur 11.7.4

  1. Did anything change about your Mac? (macOS updates?)
  2. Do the camera and mic work with a different computer?
  3. Something that solved all of my issues was using a Thunderbolt 4 cable. It's expensive, but worth it.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, no changes - camera, speakers and mic were working fine yesterday and today no dice. The display still works (I do love the 5K) and I am going to plug in an old webcam I have around for now.
I will try with a different machine (good idea).
I'm using the TB/USB-C cable that came with the monitor but can try another TB cable I have (I think both are TB 3...)
