I have this in 10.13.3.
solution for me is wireless

Hmmm, I have been using it setup that way since October and have only started having issues since the last MacOS update. So your camera and all the USB-C ports on the monitor die too?

But only when Im on Skype and have wired internet
Switching to wi-fi an unplugging the ethernet cable is the workaround for me

Ever since 10.13.4 came out, my downstream USB ports on the LG have not been working well. If I am FaceTime-ing and using the LG camera, the camera will disconnect and then all the USB ports stop working. This is annoying because I use an ethernet adapter to the LG and my internet keeps dropping when doing this.

Anyone else having issues?
On 10.12.6 here... The LG loses microphone during FaceTime.

Does anyone know this reseller through eBay?

I wonder, whether he is just selling those really messed up early models or also has decent ones?

Crazy, how he manages to actually sell those models.
I bought one from this guy last June, seems to work fine. No idea how to confirm if it has shielding issues, but I have a VPN WiFi router probably 2ft away and it seems okay (other than the usual sleep/wake issues).

Woot has the 4K Ultrafine refurb on today, April 10th, for $190US.

After all the trouble I had with the LG 4K when they first came out I can't believe I bought one, but this is a great deal. I quite dislike the colours on my dell 4K, miss the built in speakers, and I also don't think 27" is the correct size for 4K resolution. And now that Apple said no Apple monitor until next year its worth a shot.

I hope the problems have been figured out with the hard crashes and clamshell mode.

Apparently it's possible to plug in both the eGPU and the display into your MBP and it will passthrough the signal. But this will drop performance and you won't be able to accelerate games. The only thing that will be accelerated are apps specifically built to use an eGPU (pro video editing apps for now).

No other solution until TB3 graphics cards become available.

Edit: actually, it seems that games are accelerated, but frame rates suffer because of the passthrough. Hard to gather any information on this... try the egpu.io forums

Cheers for that.. I will check out egpu.io. It seems like Apple is being quite selective about which softwares can utilize a egpu..

There's a sticker that you can see if you remove the stand, or you should be able to view it via System Information while it's connected to your Mac.
I received my monitor in January 2018 and I think it came assembled. I can't seem to be able to remove the stand.

Nevermind. I found it.

Thanks for the information.

I've got a rMBP mid 2015. Can I get it to work using a tb3>tb2 adapter?

Also have all the instabilities been sorted out on the latest High Sierra?

Relatively speaking (on both the 2015 MBP support and the stability). You’ll get 4K resolution only on the 2015 MBP.

As for stability I still have issues once in a while with one of my 2 5Ks not showing anything (a simple unplug and plugin fixes that). I also have issues with night shift not working or staying stuck in the on postition during the day on one of the two displays.

Also, image retention is horrid on one of mine.

4K on the 2015 rMBP? I have one hooked up to a 2015 rMBP and can get full 5K resolution

One Thunderbolt 2 cable

5K -> TB3-TB2 adaptor -> Thunderbolt 2 cable -> rMBP

This is wonderful news although I'm worried that it just happens to work for you and won't for me. Guess I could buy the 5K LG and give it back if it doesn't work but the cables which I'm sure are expensive would be a waste of purchasing if it doesn't work for me.

Thoughts?

Are there other who get full 5K res on a rMBP mid 2015 model?

Hi all. I'm here because the USB ports on my 4K Ultrafine have stopped working suddenly, after moving to a new office. The display was not dropped or damaged, and all the cables are the same ones as before, so I don't know if the issue has anything to do with the move or not.
I downloaded the latest version of LG Screen Manager and it neither shows me what version of the firmware my display is running nor gives me the option to check for an update:

The monitor seems to function normally besides the nonworking ports. It's plugged into a 2017 MBP. Any advice warmly welcomed and greatly appreciated! Thank you!

I highly doubt the monitor will run properly. It most likely have a restricted refresh rate or some other limitation.

TB2 only have 20Gps bandwidth. In order to run 5k @ 60Hz - 8Bit, it required 22.28 Gbps. At 10bit is 27.84Gps.

That's interesting. There're some differences with your connection and mine (2016 MBP). Yours is showing 24-bit color while mine shows 30. Though yours has rotation enabled while mine doesn't reference rotation at all.
