I really wanted the V20 but LG took so frickin' long to release it. Samsung rushed their Note7 while LG took their merry time with their V20. I had all the early reviews downloaded and waited patiently for it. No doubt the silver V20 is the one I would get but alas. Timing was terrible with both South Korean companies that I had to look elsewhere. Besides, I didn't want to rotate between 6-7 phones anyway so I made a practical choice and got a computer since my current one on Windows 8.1 was giving me a headache.

I think this V20 is still one of the best phones of 2016 thanks to how easy to swap the battery out and excelling in other important areas other than battery life. But I feel 2016 is NOT the year to upgrade for a flagship. Too many glaring flaws to each of them and arguably the best one of 2016 only lived two months and will no longer receive updates. The point for people buying a phablet is longer battery life and LG broke that reason already with a 3200+ mAh.

I hope Samsung and LG can learn their lesson. Samsung should come back stronger next year with the S8 with 4K screen and foldable display technology. After boot loops from the G4 and V10 and weak battery life of the G5 and V20, hoping LG comes back wiser packing a bigger battery life and better optimization matching S7 edge Exynos quality with the G6 and V30. And hopefully no ugly camera humps either. I wish companies stopped being obsessed with thinness.

Too late, LG. Apple just got my $900 but for a computer. Better luck next year, LG. Better timing, please? Not have the Pixel come out sooner with Nougat. At least with the early death of the Note7, S7 edge, V20, and the Google Pixels became the Android alternative for many former Note7 owners. I can see threads of V20 on Android Central stating V20 is the logical choice for them coming from the Note7.

With the death of the Note7, it was basically V20 or iPhone 7 Plus for me. Or nothing and we just wait what 2017 will bring us.. Nintendo Switch, Microsoft Scorpio, Nokia Android, newly design iPhone 8, Galaxy S8 with 4K, and Galaxy X (foldable display) are definitely some of them. 2017 will be awesome...

Mine came in. Pretty meh about it. Huge step down in camera from the note 7, and the design is not on the same level at all.

Oh well few more months till the s8

Really ? Camera reviews were very positive :( what aspects are poor?

Design was always going to be subjective, but what don't you like compared to the N7 ?(overall size / build etc..)

What do you think of the software / android skin ?

Thanks in advance

Taking lowlight shots (I just got it and it is night) the v20 really blows out a ton of details, and casts a really unpleasant hue compared to the note. I will need to do further testing but almost any camera is serviceable in daylight these days. Where the note shined was in low light.

As far as the software it is actually pretty nice. It mostly stays out of the way, and has a very logical layout, and cohesive modern motif. No complaints there.

I think my main issue is the software keys. I really miss the home button, and physical back/multitasking keys. I know some people prefer this but I hate wasting screen space, and constantly having to stare at the buttons. I also hate having to hunt around for the reader.

The phone itself is well constructed but it is huge in comparison to the note. It is also not nearly as sleek. The second screen is actually a really redeeming feature and having media controls there really will come in handy. I was out walking my dog, and it was convenient to change tracks without waking the phone.

The LCD is no where near as nice as the oled on the note. It is washed out, and doesn't have anywhere near the punch. Considering LG is king of oled TVs it is inexcusable that there isn't a oled panel in a phone at this pricepoint

One other annoyance is that all my quick charge 2.0 gear seems not to work at all. It charges glacially. I bought 4 for my house 3 for my cars, and one for my desk so now I need to replace them all.

I think any phone I switched to would be a negative move. I really, really loved my note. It felt like holding a slab of the future in your hand. It was basically the realization of all the future smart phone renders we have been seeing for years. Giant screen floating bezelless bristling with all the latest tech.

Perhaps with time I will grow to love this thing but it has some big shoes to fill.

Ugh.. this dilutes my excitement awaiting the v20 that just shipped from TMO.

How is the audio ? That's a biggie for me!

I realize that I may be being hyper critical since I didn't want to leave my note. It is a perfectly serviceable phone. Don't want to damper your enthusiasm. Give it a shot.

As far as the audio goes I can't really say. I use beats studio wireless, or Plantronics back beats, and will probably never plug a set of cans in that can take advantage of the sweet DAC.

Really been thinking about picking up the V20 but I know I have had LG phones in the past and the LG skin that they lay over android always kills it for me.

Yeah I've only ever owned a LG GPad and the skin was atrocious and it's why I've avoided all their handsets so far myself too.

6 hrs 23 min according to Phone Arena is pretty mediocre when one of the main reasons consumers opt for the phablet size is for better battery life. I check LG V20 threads on Android Central and some people are too optimistic with it or in denial it is poor. Other reviewers on YouTube aren't detailed at all with it. GSM Arena also measured it to about 6-7 hrs. I see Apple iPhone 7 Plus reaching at 9 hrs and 5 min. Surprising the iPhone 7 isn't that far behind.

Glad I opted for a laptop with 12h battery life. Still at 75% after a few hours using it. V20 would be 50% in comparison and maybe far less if streaming YouTube. I really wanted to get V20 but LG just hasn't delivered in battery life with it or the G5. Then the boot loops from last year with the G4 and V10. LG has quality control issues themselves. Then they took their merry time with V20 when they first announced it a day before iPhone 7. Some folks at LG need to be fired.

I do like LG though as a brand and perhaps even more than Apple and Samsung. I prefer air conditioners made by them and only Android OEM still offering removable battery. Will wait for the V30 instead and hopefully third time's the charm. If not, there is still good ol' Nokia. Return of the king next year...

I'm really more interested in the S7 edge, but the price difference makes the LG very appealing. I'll have to spend some time with both phones in the store to see what I think of them.

I don't like their skin/overlay either..but I usually just slap my trusty Nova on it and it's good to go... If I can't deal with the device itself..well..that's what TMobile's Jump On Demand is for ;)

Couple days in, and I am becoming more enamored with it. The wide angle camera is a serious feature. It is the real unsung top thing about this phone.

No other smartphone has the ability to take pictures like this.

I still am not crazy about the hardware but I will be more than happy to spend a few months with it.

Finnaly gave my replacement Note 7 back to T-Mobile and pre-ordered the V20 which should come within 6 days. Still going to use my iPhone 7 Plus as my main phone until the S8 releases.

The wide angle was a great G5 feature that got lost in the faux metal and friends talk. If only it had the battery stamina without needing to switch out the battery I may have kept it.

Unfortunately the V20 isn't officially coming to the UK so I ruled it out. Looks like a nice device and caters to a certain type of user.
