Interesting that for many the V30 is losing its appeal. For me, it's quite the contrary. I'm going to hold off for a few months and then buy it as my new daily Android driver. Its main selling point? The incredible HiFi Quad DAC.
That's a legitimate selling point for me too. I feel that most people probably have no idea nor care about the phone's DAC. If you mention it they'd probably go "What's a DAC?" And that's completely fine.

But those who know... and have some headphones that could take advantage of the extra oomph... appreciate it. ;)

Well has interest renewed now that the Apple event is over?
I'd have to say yes. But I'm still holding out for the Pixel 2 XL. In all honesty, I am interested in the V30 because I am hoping it's a sign of what's to come with the Pixel. :D

If the Pixel disappoints, this phone is on my radar however.

The LG V30 at $750 is looking like quite the nice flagship compared to the iPhone X at $1,000 base starting price, and Note 8 at $950.

For me the best phones this fall would be LG V30 rooted and custom TWRP running Lineage 15.0, that would be a nerds wet dream phone, or the iPhone 8 Plus for $799 with a stable untethered Jailbreak :)

So far this year I think the v30 imo is the best phone released. Only drawback that I don't like is the front facing camera. Waiting on the pixel xl2...Would really love if the pixel was the v30 with a better front facing camera.

It's still on the table for me. I'm pretty set on the new Apple Watch and IPhone X but the V30 still has a chance with me. The Note 8...not really. I'm taking a break from Samsung for awhile, except of course to enjoy the glorious purple of my S8+. My husband might get a Note 8 if he can sell his S8+ and trade in his S7 Edge and knock the price down a lot.

In terms of design between the three big recent flagships, the Note 8, the LG V30, and the iPhone X, the V30 still wins.

It's a real beauty.
Yep, it really is the stunner of the year IMO. Close second behind the Note 8.

Two tiny bezels top and bottom, makes the side bezels look all the more non-existent and the whole front come off as all screen. More so than the iPhone X. I wish Apple would have chosen this strategy.

How much would he want for the s8+? I would buy one if the price was good

I don't know offhand. I think he's selling to a friend at work though. There's at least a couple of guys interested, which is why he told me I could sell mine, too, but I decided to hang onto mine for VR use at the very least. I'm hanging onto all of my Samsungs at this point for our VR Goggles.

Wow, from videos I don't think it looks that great. It looks pretty plain. I'd like to see it in person and hold it, that's where tech bloggers are insisting it's special.

Plain is better IMO. I'm not convinced I want the cheap plastic fake chrome... er um I mean the polished stainless steel surround of the iPhone X yet, guess I have to see it in person. I've always loved the blacked out, extremely plain front look of past iphones and can appreciate Samsung and LG doing it.

I completely agree on the ‘Chrome’ point but my guess is that the finish will be like those found on the stainless steel Apple Watches. Both the regular stainless steel and space black stainless steel finishes look and feel quite premium, IMO.

I think the iPhone X is quite attractive but wish the space gray was more like the jet black of the iPhone 7.

I don't find the SS of the AW premium looking at all, it looks like cheap chrome plastic to me, and yes I own one and wear it every day. I think they should have gone with brushed SS. I also have a black SS and it looks a bit toyish. I've never been in love with the AW looks, but I love its functionality and size.

Well, agree to disagree then. :D Aesthetics are of course, mostly subjective so perfectly understandable. I’m certainly curious to see how it looks and feels in hand when it’s eventually in stores.

I tried with the Apple Watch. Just no. Other than the health portions, I could not find a use case that warranted it. A smaller, less functional screen on my wrist seemed a waste. With a cellular version, that might change it up a bit but ultimately for me it's a nope. Which is too bad cause I really wanted to love the tech.

My main use of it, besides the gym, is for notifications. My hands are constantly busy and I can't pull my phone out of my pocket constantly, so I really rely on a quick glance to my watch to let me know what the notification is for. In theory it should work if I have a donor iPhone at home and on wifi, but we'll see. I will test it out extensively when my note 8 gets here.

UI looks better than I recall, and I love the wide angle implementation on the second camera. Beyond that, for me, I don't see a reason to choose it over the Note 8. It'll be cheaper, probably, so I guess there's that for two phones that seem fairly identical in features.

I think if the V30 releases at €700 (€300 cheaper than Note 8) then it has a serious chance and if your not an S-Pen user it would be a very compelling offering.

It's all going to boil down to price.
