I just received my custom configured 1.8GHz/80GB MacBook Air yesterday and decided that I really can't afford it 
I have listed it for sale on ebay with a "buy it now" price of what I paid. It is unopened. If anyone is after this configuration and doesn't want to wait Apple's 2-3 weeks, you can get it in a few days.

If you are paying $3100 then you are purchasing an SSD. The SSD will beat your C2D MB any day.
Maybe in about half of the hard drive tests, but overall not even close.
That's great news! Checked mine, still in Shanghai, but shipped on the 4th. Anybody know how many flights out of Pudong today? I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Actually good question, does anyone know the Fedex flight numbers out of Pudong today? (especially the one that left around 4:00 PM local time
)I can't seem to locate them.

Mine hasn't changed but they now give me a delivery date of 2/11. So much for 2-3 day shipping.
Mine shipped on the 4th too, but the updated delivery I just got says the 12th!
Damn it!

You should still get it before then. Mine left Shanghai on the 2nd and was delivered on the 4th, even though my delivery date was Feb. 6th

I got the same new estimate of the 11th.
Guess we're travelling together.
I can't really complain, chances are I wouldn't have found a 1.8/SSD in a store till sometime in March anyway.
so i've had my 1.8 80gb for 24 hours now, and i have to say. im very impressed, and i do not regret making this purchase at all.
this will be my only laptop/computer for the time being until i get an imac in the summer, and for my needs (email/web/itunes/office) it is more than just fine.
only one drawback so far has been running office 08. a tad bit slow loading, or maybe it had to do with the fact i was syncing my ipod.
but all in all, its amazing.

Looks like my unit is finally moving -- it 'left Fedex ramp' at 9:50pm local time. I hope that means it is on a flight out. Also, check out Flytecomm.com (link below). It lists 3 flights from Shanghai to Anchorage today. Maybe they are trying to get as many units out of China before New Years starts.

I ordered mine on 1/16 9am [1.6G/SSD]. I am sure that it will not arrive on the 11th as it will not ship out till the 11th. If it does not ship by Wednesday Shanghai time, everything will close till the 10th night. As a result, it will only ship out on the 11th evening 9.55pm flight!

woot woke up checked this morning my air is in Vancouver!! just arrived at my local depot! i called up fedex right away hoping for a pickup on my way to work since it's like 5 min away from me.. and
Cybergypsy was right! darn her! hahaha
Apple doesn't do pickups until after the 1st delivery attempt
so concerning this i asked whats the chances of getting it today and she said very high casue it's already on ti's way and it's early morning
however
she said the commitment isn't till tomorow so theres a small chance it might get delivered tomorow!
so i'm hoping for a on truck for delivery status soon... come on fedex!
I just received a call from Apple (a three-way call with a customer service rep and the man I placed my MBA order with).
Apparently, when I requested an upgrade to next-day (by e-mail, which was granted and "on the house"), the request was called in but not applied properly. So as an apology, they are crediting me 50 bucks, which rocks as I didn't pay extra for the next-day request anyway.
I then proceeded to ask them if they knew the status of my computer, and they said it left Shanghai this morning (although this isn't reflected on simpletracking yet), and that I should receive it by Wednesday or Thursday.
I hope they're right, but either way, thanks Apple for the free $50!!!

It DOES appear Apple is trying to make amends for the less-than-stellar rollout last week...

So mine's still not yet shipped on a 1/15 order. Called Apple and its still within their original Feb 6-12 window so "not to worry". However, other orders from much later have already been received. Would trying to get upgraded shipping prompt anything and does it really save any time? Guesses.
