Called one of the Seattle area Apple stores over lunch. The guy I talked to said they didn't know when they would be getting them in, but it's usually the same time as you would get one if ordered online. I asked if they were carrying the SSD and he had to ask a co-worker. I could hear in the background "as far as I know we are just carrying the base model". He also said that they get packages in big unmarked boxes, so they often don't know what or how many they are getting until opening the box.

I'm sure the Apple store employees are loving this bombardment of the same question over and over again.

Then again, if Apple wouldn't be so vague, they wouldn't have this problem.

ughh, I don't understand why they are taking so long to ship, I just need it to do my papers, I cant concentrate in the computer lab...

Now I am just hoping that Steve-O keeps his word and they start shipping tomorrow.

What known procedure...

Not sure why people from NYC or other high sales tax locations are ordering from the Apple site when you can get it from Amazon and not pay sales tax. Saves $150.

You can also follow a known procedure to get Amazon to put the MacBook Air in your gold box and get a 5% discount. That saves you another $90.

If Apple is true to form, they will stuff the sales channels all at once and differences in delivery dates will be measured in days...

do tell or point me in the right direction:)

I think the concentration problem is because you keep thinking about the MacBook Air lol. I know I have been having issues. I sent a client an email instead of just letting them know their package will be in the mail tomorrow, I wrote: Your MacBook Air will be in the mail tomorrow.

I only caught myself after I sent it lol. That was an interesting apology to send.

Just got back from a trip out of town and saw that my MacBook Air has shipped and should arrive on Friday. Freaking awesome!

Here are screen shots - since I have now seen two people say theirs shipped and provided zero confirmation.

That might work. But most likely, since the air is thinner than the normal macbook, it is going to flop around in there. You can maybe lay some material inside to give it a more snug fit. I personally bought the Brenthaven ProLite I and velcroed some of the edges for my ordered Air.

Regarding MBA-specific sleeves -- I think that Belkin announced a nice set of them at MWSF. Haven't seen them on sale yet.

Belkin

For those of you thinking Waterfield -- you can always ask the owner directly about the sleeve fit: heygary@sfbags.com

The Brenthaven Edge I case is free after rebate at macmall, so if that works it would be a sweet deal

just got the waterfield case today in the mail,

it looks impeccable to say the least. can't wait till i have something to put inside ;)

do tell or point me in the right direction:)

1. Create new amzn account.
2. Go to recommendations tab, click "rate these items," find the MacBook Air Superdrive, mark it as "I own it"
3. Go to "recommended for you" and click "not interested" on everything except the MacBook Air. Keep doing this until nothing else is left.
4. Go to Gold Box and (hopefully) find the MacBook Air
5. You can switch to your normal account when you go to check out.

Lots of luck.
