Same here fellow 1.8/64gb SSD pre-orderees....

I ordered mine at 10:41am PST the day of the keynote and my status hasn't changed. Mine shows shipping by the 6th and arrival on the 7th...

Aaron

Not everyone. I haven't seen anyone with the 1.8/SSD that had their status change. My ship date is Feb 6 and it still says "Not yet shipped".

Ships by: Feb 6
Delivers by: Feb 11

Looks like apple is updating order status in terms of original ship dates. Sounds like everyone with a ship date of Feb 6th is getting there status changed to "prepared for shipment. Can people please confirm this by posting there original ship date when there status changes. My ship date is feb 7th and so far nothing has changed.

not everyone mine is Feb 6 ship date
but still not yet shipped status

i ordered a stock air with iwork installed with expediated shipping to canada and it ships before feb 6 and arrieves before feb 11

Hah-- when I signed on and saw the thread had bumped 3 pages I *knew* something was up.

Congrats to all of you guys with the changed status-- don't forget to post pics and impressions for those of us still waiting.

I'll bet they'll be in stores any day now...

JT

Just hope mine arrives by Feb 8th - I'm giving a presentation to our Mac User Group and would love to use my new MacBook Air. :)

I went for 1.8ghz and 64 gb SSD. I bought it yesterday and it ships by Feb 19th. I really hope it actually arrives earlier! (Should have bought earlier but I was debating...)

Ditto. Apple Enterprise put the order through just this morning unfortunately. Ships by Feb. 19th as well. Hoping a stream of them come down the pipeline soon!

I am calling right when they open in the morning to find out if tomorrow is the day for stores. With prepared for shipments today, who knows!

I wonder if I should just cancel my Amazon pre-order and go in store. Gosh I wish I knew what would be first.

It will ship out faster than you think...hang in there! I cancelled my order with $100.00 off from Apple online b/c I got an even better deal with Amazon...but it will be worth it!

I guess I might as well, I can always last minute cancel if they happen to be in stores staring at me.

1.8/64 SSD with an ship date on Feb 6. Not Yet Shipped. My card has not been charged in any way and it seems the CTO orders are not ready yet.

Although I ordered mine on the day of the keynote, got the student discount and my status just changed to "Prepared for shipment" I decided to at least order the goldbox deal from amazon.com to save $100.

What do you guys think, Amazon.com estimated March 28 as their shipping date.. will it ship earlier? I strongly hope so..

Has anyone with a SSD been charged or had had a status change?
I ordered 1.8 SSD within 2 hours of the keynote.
My order says CTO not shipped yet ships by Feb 6. Though it's a standard MB Air with SSD nothing else ordered with it or changed.

I ordered a standard 1.6/80GB with no options or upgrades @ 10:50Am the day of the keynote and mine has not changed....:(

In the time it took me to write the above post, it switched...

I wonder how close this is to being manic? It seems very close to what my DW describes...

I don't know if anyone has mentioned it, but with all the blizzards going on in China, it is highly possible that the shipment of Air will be delayed. And don't forget it is the Chinese new year in the early Feb and the earliest day people will go back to work is around mid Feb, so it's possible the Air won't hit US till the end of Feb...

Looks like only stock configs getting "prepared for shipment" - I ordered at 10:41am on the 15th - my 18/HDD still "not yet shipped". If in fact the Apple stores get stock of the 1.6/HDD, do you think there would be a noticeable performance difference from the 1.8? I'll mostly be using for travel and light office work stuff - email, web browsing, itunes, etc......

thoughts?

I know this is the "waiting for the macbook air" thread, but I couldnt help answering his question.
The extra 200 Mhz wont make much of a difference at all. The macbook air was designed for use as a second computer, one where mobility was emphasized over power. For what most people are going to use it, 1.6 is more than enough. Remember that Rev 1 macbook PRO's had core duo chips that were less powerful than the core 2 duo shipped in the macbook air. For most any computing needs it has more than enough power. If you are into games, 3D or HD video editing then the macbook air might not be what you are looking for.
To me, the $300 premium does not justify the small boost of only 200 Mhz. It really wont make a difference in normal computer use anyway, which is why I decided on the 1.6 Ghz. Saying that, if I had money to burn then I wouldnt mind an extra 200 Mhz, even if it only made a difference in my head. ;)

Don't you think Apple would have taken in to consideration the new year and would have avoided not making good on their promise of "two weeks" by having them in the US already for the shipment? I doubt Apple would have screwed up shipping due to the holiday.
