wow thats pretty crazy actually that must mean the first 5 hours or so
must have been a TON of orders

casue now from my end of day 15th order till now 17th are all in one batch

yeah, that's what i'm stipulating as well. hopefully the end of 15th thru 17th orders arrive monday at the latest.

would've preorded on keynote day, except that i was reassessing my needs, and whether or not it would be wise to part with my company-supplied X31 and over $1800.

The iPhone took time because there was not mobile service provider secured here. Computers usually arrive here at the same time as in the USA. I got my Mac Pro at the Apple Store on the day after it was announced in January (which matched the what occurred in the USA). That's the norm, and pre-orders are pre-orders. As it looks, despite the fact that we pre-ordered, Americans will be able to walk into a store and buy an Air long before we have ours in our hands. That strikes me as a poor decision on Apple's part, particularly after the Touch debacle with pre-orders. The UK is a very big market for Apple. They should treat us as such here, and clearly they aren't.

We don't know that the Apple Stores are going to get a large enough inventory. Adequate, so anyone can walk in, and walk out.

I really don't think the MacBook Air distribution will model the iPhone. Turns out most everybody in line waiting for the Apple Store to open, was able to get an iPhone that day.

I guess we'll see on Friday.

I was assessing whether I need one more Mac on top of my Mini, MBP and the iMac that's going in my office in March...

It took me about thirty hours after the speech to say, "Yes, I need an MBA!" :)

I ordered a Waterfield bag for my MBA(still missing) from sfbags.com

Ordered on Sunday, arrived on Wednesday. Now that's what I call great customer service.

This is my second Waterfield bag, and their quality is excellent.

Which one did you get? The hardcase or the sleeve?

Well, as I sit here looking at my "Not shipped" message I am reduced to pondering how clever Apple can be. Clearly these machines have been ready for a couple of weeks (maybe not in huge quantities, but ready) as the various pundits and review sites seem to have received "full" models -- not really pre-release versions. By making everyone cool their jets they have certainly revved up the excitement quite a bit-- added a bit of drama to the release.

Now that can obviously work both ways-- note that the reviews have been decidedly cautious -- check out how Jason Snell at Macworld navigates his review (just posted). And even I have found myself reconsidering a bit even though I fit the demographic very well -- drifting back to whether I should just go to the Macbook... though I will probably stick with the Air as the prospect of going from my MBP to the Air will be even more exciting as I leave for another round of flights on Saturday -- MBP in tow :( .

In any case, looking forward to the unboxing pics!

Refund

Hey, I thought you might find this interesting...

I just called Apple Customer Service and inquired as to the definition of the word "overnight" in the phrase "overnight shipping."

My MBA shipped on January 31st. It won't arrive until February 1st. That's not "overnight" shipping. They agreed.

They gave me $100 refund. Interesting.

I really enjoyed the 12" PB, my first Mac. I sold it to my brother who finds it perfectly adequate to build his iWeb sites and compose music. After toting around the 15.4" MBP, it'll be nice to get something a little smaller and a lot lighter. Like I said, if they'd come out with a 12" MBP, I might have gotten that instead.

With .mac and iSync (plus Retrospect and HDD's at home) , it's really not necessary to carry around all the stuff on one computer anymore.

I got the sleeve. Great padding.

Yeah, I had the sleeve for my 17" PowerBook way back when. I'm going to re-order same for my MBA-just trying to decide on adding the flap or not. Now, if I, like so many waiting, could just get my MBA to go with!

I got the flap. And this time I got a vertical bag, with d-rings to attach a strap.

Weird...my Superdrive and USB Ethernet Adapter have been shipped, but my MBA hasn't even been prepared for shipping (still says - Ships by: Feb 6, Delivers by: Feb 11).

What am I supposed to do with them without the actual computer?!?

I ordered at 6PM.
