I guess for some it's a make or break feature. However, the pattern happens year after year...if you can hold out for another year, one would get a phone with more features at about the same price. But then one would potentially lose out on using a phone with a feature one would find useful.
I suppose every year brings some kind of incremental update so unless you are one of the few who upgrade every single year, you’re going to miss out in the short term anyway. I don’t feel these devices change enough to warrant annual upgrades personally but everybody had their own set of the expectations.

Anyone else going to open up a new thread when there’s already MULTIPLE threads in the exact SAME topic instead of joining an existing thread?

You won’t upgrade because of no 120Hz. Got it. No one cares.

Aside from that, no one but Apple knows for sure.
How else are we going to know they’re not going to upgrade ?

I wonder how many other people there are out there like me. I used to be an iPhone user, but moved over to Android and the Pixel line initially quite a few years ago, before moving to a OnePlus 7 Pro about a year and a half ago now.

However, I've been considering moving back to iPhone. But there's no way I'll do so unless the iPhone has a 90hz or 120hz display. I get that some people might not notice the difference in going from say 60hz > 90hz, but for me it's a night and day difference, and moving back to 60hz would be a regression for me. To be fair, moving from the full screen, notch free display of my OnePlus 7 Pro back to the iPhone's notch would also be a regression, but that's a sacrifice I'd be more willing to make.

I just think, as others have said, not implementing a 90hz or 120hz display, even if you only did it on your 'Pro' range of phones, is laughable. Especially when you consider how long this technology has been available elsewhere.

I'd wait until next year. With how good the Android market is right now, I think you'd be disappointed.

I really hope the 12 has Touch ID on the power button. Thats enough to warrant an upgrade for me. We live in a mask world now and another option besides Face ID isn’t optional, its a requirement now. FaceID has permanently lost its value for the every day user and is now completely useless when out in public, and that isn’t changing any time soon.

I agree 100%. This would make it an instant buy for me.

Apple’s iPhone 12 lineup won’t have high-refresh 120Hz displays, says analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
Someone prefer to have better battery life.
But I do care this. I want smoother scrolling and animations. What's your idea?

iPhone 12 Rumors (1).jpg

If the rumors are true then for whatever reason Apple decided to make the battery capacities smaller. With the inclusion of 5g and 120hz the battery would need to be at least 4500 mah. Rumors say around 3600 mah for the biggest battery in the iPhone 12 pro max. If that’s the case then there is no magic the A14 could do to give reasonable battery life. So 120 hz had to go. So I’m hoping the rumors are not true and we are in for some surprises. That’s just wishful thinking at this time

Thank you! I forgot 5G connectivity also drains battery.

I think its pretty much set by now that the iphone 12 won't have a 120 hz, such a shame, I wanted it to happen so bad, because you know apple will only use it on the pro models, so I wanted the clock to start turning so we'd have the feature maybe in two years time on the non pro models? Now it's going to take at least three years for the non pro models to have 120 hz screens .

Also a bit ridiculous that apple shrinked the battery capacity why give us the same battery life and not BETTER battery life? I'd go for an android, but with oneplus now shunning stock android, there really isn't a phone that has pretty much all I want ...

I think if you're going to buy an iPhone then buy the 12 mini or 6.1 non pro.. For me Pro users are getting ripped off for what you will get

How do you know the battery life is going to be the same and not better though? It’s entirely possible a more efficient processor and OS will compensate for the lack of increase in physical battery capacity. It’s not just figures on the side of a battery that tell the entire story.

I’ve never seen the need personally in paying considerably more for the Pro’s when the mid tier devices are 90% as good. Everybody has different desires when it comes to phones though but as the years go on I’m less impressed with the Pro iPhones compared to the lower models.

Of course I don't know, but whatever increased efficiency the new A14 offers it's very likely going to be diminished by the inclusion of 5G
