I think this is more of a Big Sur problem. On my 2019 i9 iMac I am getting very weird Bluetooth issues too. System Preferences is locking up for me (cannot disconnect any of the Bluetooth devices, right click is not working). I cannot turn off Bluetooth when it gets in this state. My headphones (5 year old Sennheiser Bluetooth) act up. I need to restart the entire computer. Everything was working flawlessly until Big Sur. No changes in wireless interference in years.

I hate to say this, but my Hack (of all things), running BS 11.1 is simply flawless with Bluetooth connections to all of my devices.

Airpods 1
Magic Trackpad 2
MS Sculpt Mouse
Thinkpad Silent BT Mouse
Logi Pebble BT mouse
Magic Keyboard
DualShock 4

Whatever is up with Apples own native hardware in this regard needs to get fixed - stat

A hack user with generic PC parts shouldn’t be having a better connectivity experience

Yeah because it is a software issue. This was the first thing I verified by disabling anything WiFi, USB 3 etc.
Yep that makes sense as I am having Bluetooth issues on my 2019 iMac with Big Sur. I also find my Magic keyboard randomly disconnecting and reconnecting. I never had this issue from the day I purchased this iMac until I installed Big Sur.

41 days and no problem with Apple Magic 2 KB & Magic mouse, dual displays, and Klipsch sound system.

No Wifi - only wired Ethernet from my 27" Thunderbolt display.

I've had some stuttering on my M1 MBP with the Magic Trackpad and Magic Keyboard, as well as audio dropouts on AirPods Pro and AirPods Max. While it happens briefly every once in awhile, it definitely happens more when the machine is under certain amounts of load (though not all the time when doing the same thing). I also had my first time yesterday where all bluetooth devices stopped working at all and I had to reboot to fix it.

Awful

Apple has got to get this fixed

Has it been confirmed if its an M1 Mac problem or a Big Sur problem? I am thinking its more of an issue with Big Sur as my iMac is having Bluetooth issues too.

Some combo of recent hardware/software I think.

My BigSur Hack uses a native Apple WiFi/BT card from 8 years ago out of a MacBook Air and has zero bluetooth issues

After 2 weeks of just working my bluetooth is acting up now, I only use a pair of airpod pros and the bluetooth has died a few times requiring a reboot or restart of bluetooth. When it works the range is amazing though, my airpods work all over my house, even that basement, my hackintosh cut out just going downstairs.

Man, my Mac mini seems to somehow be getting worse and worse. First few weeks I had ZERO issues. Then my BT keyboard wouldn't connect once or twice a week which required a restart. Fine, I'll use one of the USB slots for the dongle and not have to worry about it. Nope, the keyboard somehow still doesn't recognize my Mac from time to time requiring a restart. My mouse has also become EXTREMELY laggy with tracking. Again, a restart fixes it for a day or so, but then it starts lagging again.

Never once had any of these issues using the exact same peripherals on my 2016 MBP.

I run my Magic Mouse 2 on a brand new M1 MBP and while I luckily experience no bluetooth disconnects at all, not a single one, I feel like my Mouse is always behind and sluggish. It's a long time since I actually owned a bluetooth mouse but I use them here and there when I'm at my parents house but the lag and sluggish feeling is more then your average bluetooth lag. It's still useable but I tend to notice the difference when I'm using my built in trackpad. Although it takes me more time to actually navigate it still feels way smoother and better to use. The mouse movement is actually arriving at the moment I'm using the trackpad and not 100-300ms later.

Overall I feel like the apple plug and play prestige is finally over. I have to adjust so many things and find workarounds to get normal things to work. They often advertised switching off airpods from iPhone, iPad, Macbook only works seemless between my iOS devices. It hands off the airpods to my iPhone but it doesn't hand back the airpods pro to my mac when I'm switching between Youtube videos on my devices.

At the moment I don't know if the magic mouse 2 itself is just crappy as I bought it one week ago and if I wouldn't be better off with a magic trackpad. I also consider the jump of faith to the beta as it sounds promising. I just wonder if you can really go back to the stable version without having to reinstall everything afterwards?!?! Reinstalling a OS and playing in time machine backups also seems to be a thing that works poorly for me compared to earlier times. The last time I did it blocked around 40 gb of disk space for no apparent reason and I had to reinstall the whole OS.

@Jogge

That is a perfect description of what I was experiencing with the magic trackpad 2 and my M1 mini

I also wholeheartedly agree with you that the “it just works” thing is long over now.

It seems like they are just trying to do too much, too quickly, consistently
I wish on the software side they would slow down with features and UI changes and just fix bugs

This guy seems to have found a link between his Bluetooth issues and the USB-A ports. Anyone want to try his remedy and report back?

I also notice that coursor is stuttering and lagging really intense for 3-4 seconds after a restart while loading up all the programs. In this time I have no control over the mouse.

It's a M1 Mac issue, somehow related to wifi since disabling wifi or going on 2.4Ghz wifi seems to fix the bluetooth issues for most people. This is fixed with 11.2.

Okay I guess I have to find it out myself and make the leap of faith. Can I really just roll back to the original version by a few mouse clicks?
